Chapter41

The girl knelt in front of the booth to pour Ellsworth a drink. Seeing Ellsworth’s gloomy expression, Johnathan grinned and said, “A few days of filial duty at the hospital got you all

depressed?”

Before Ellsworth could reply, Johnathanforted him, “It’s just a few days. Sir Chavez will be discharged soon. Hang in

there.”

As soon as Johnathan spoke, Ellsworth felt even more

frustrated.

He shot Johnathan a cold nce, picked up the cigarette box

on the coffee table, shook out a cigarette, and bit it between his

lips.

Seeing this, the girl who had just poured the drink quickly.

picked up the lighter on the table, knelt over, and tried to light

Ellsworth’s cigarette.

Ellsworth didn’t use her me. He just took the lighter from her

hand, waved her away, and dismissed her.

Chapter41

Johnathan found this amusing.

He lit a cigarette for himself, blew out a smoke ring, and asked

Ellsworth, “Is it really that bad?”

The ce was noisy, with someone singing on stage. Ellsworth

exhaled a smoke ring, tapped the ash into the ashtray, and said

coldly, “Sir Chavez advised me to get a divorce tonight.”

Johnathan immediately became more attentive and looked at

Ellsworth, asking, “So, have you and Hara settled the alimony

issue?”

At this moment, both of them were quite serious, putting away

their usualzy, roguish demeanor.

At Johnathan’s question, Ellsworth’s brow furrowed even deeper than before. He said, “She wants nothing. She’s quitting as vice president, and the confidentiality agreement is already

drafted.”

Looking at Ellsworth, Johnathan was speechless for a while.

Everyone had thought that when Harriet married Ellsworth, she

must have cared at least a little about the Townsend family’s

status. After all, everyone seeks their own benefit, and that was

understandable.

That’s just human nature.

But Johnathan never expected that after three years of turmoil,

Harriet would want nothing and even resign from thepany.

Was this girl a bit foolish? Besides, after working so hard for the

Townsend Group for three years, it would only be fair for

Ellsworth to give her something.

Staring straight at Ellsworth for a long while, Johnathan finally

stubbed out his cigarette and asked, “So what are you thinking

now?”

With Harriet wanting nothing, Ellsworth should logically be

happy, but right now, he didn’t look happy at all.

In fact, he seemed a bit troubled.

ncing indifferently at Johnathan, Ellsworth exhaled heavily

and said bluntly, “I never thought about getting a divorce.”

The moment he agreed to marry Harriet for Sir Chavez, he had

never considered divorce.

Chapter41

He had thought Harriet had schemed to marry him, that she would obediently be Mrs. Townsend for life, be vice president for life. He never expected that after just three years, she would

walk away from it all.

Johnathanughed at Ellsworth’s selfishness.

He said, “You went too far and now you regret it, right? I told

you before, y all you want, but when you go home, you still

have to coax Hara. Did you ever treat her like a wife? Hara has

her dignity too. She can put up with you for a day or two, a year

or two, but do you think she can put up with you for a lifetime?”

Ellsworth still frowned, smoking in silence.

Seeing this, Johnathan smiled and said, “Alright, just go home

and coax her. Women are easy to coax. If you really can’t even

do that, then you might as well get divorced. Otherwise, are you going to stay away for a lifetime? Drag her along so she can’t

have kids or be a mother?”

“As for everything else, I’ll find a chance to help you talk to her.”

Johnathan ended up advising him to get a divorce too. Ellsworth nced at him, not even bothering to respond.

Noticing Ellsworth’s look of disdain, Johnathan chuckled and

said, “Alright, stop looking at me like that. Hara’s still at the

hospital, right? Go bring her somete-night snacks.”

Ellsworth couldn’t help butugh.

Coax Harriet?

Impossible. She didn’t need anyone to coax her.

Even though he sneered and decisively rejected Johnathan’s

suggestion, after leaving the bar, Ellsworth still drove to the

hospital.

There was even ate-night snack sitting on the passenger

seat.

In the hospital room, Harriet sat motionless at the bedside,

holding Ralph’s hand, not feeling the least bit sleepy.

Ever since she registered her marriage with Ellsworth, she had

devoted almost all her time and energy to him and her work.

She rarely even went home to have dinner with Ralph.

Looking back, she felt quite guilty.

After all, it was her grandfather who had raised her.

Chapter41

Still holding Ralph’s hand, gently pressing it to her own cheek,

Harriet murmured to herself in a soft voice, “Grandpa, you have

to stay healthy, live a few more years. I’ll spend more time with

you from now on.”
