Chapter55

Then, a bit embarrassed, she added, “Sorry, Mr. Barton, I haven’t

officially interviewed at yourpany yet, so I didn’t recognize

you just now.”

Back in school, she had heard of Reginald’s reputation, but

Reginald only supervised PhD and graduate students, focusing

on his own research projects.

There had been two public lectures, but by the time she heard

about them and went to attend, even the entrance was packed

with people.

So, she had never had the chance to formally meet Reginald.

Reginald nonchntly shook her hand back, smiling as he said,

“It’s fine.”

After letting go, Reginald nced around Harriet and asked her,

“Alone?”

Harriet smiled, “My assistant is busy with something else.”

Reginald then said, “Let’s go to the restaurant together.”

Chapter55

“Sure.”

It was rare to run into Reginald, and even rarer to have a chance

to chat with such an expert in the field, so Harriet went to the

restaurant with him.

Besides, after leaving the Townsend Group, she would be

joining Gxy Innovations.

At lunch, employees sat in groups of three or five, and everyone

at each table knew each other.

Harriet didn’t know many people, and Reginald didn’t know

many either, though many knew him. When others came over to

greet him, Reginald ignored them and directly sent them away.

As a researcher, Reginald didn’t like crowds. There were very

few people he enjoyed talking to or found worth talking to.

At hispany, people were always begging him for

technology or to coborate.

So, at therge dining table, only he and Harriet remained.

Taking the soup Reginald served her, Harriet thanked him and

said, “Mr. Barton, I might need another half month to leave the

Townsend Group, so my start date at Gxy Innovations may

be dyed a bit.”

Reginald smiled and replied, “No problem, juste over when

you’re done.”

Harriet smiled as well, “Thank you, Mr. Barton.”

After taking a sip of soup, Harriet asked him, “I didn’t see you at the conference in the past two years. Why did youe this

year?”

Reginald served Harriet a piece of rib and said, “The higher-ups gave me a task, so I had to take a few days toe over.”

Some people attended the conference by invitation, some tried every way to get an invitation letter, but Reginald was pressured by the government to show up and give thesepanies a

chance to meet and talk.

Reginald usually worked with military-industrial enterprises, such as guidance systems for cruise missiles, buildingmunication centers, early warning systems, and so on.

Some of hispany’s R&D projects were in coboration with research institutes, while others were independent.

It was all veryplicated, so he rarely worked with private

Listening to Reginald, Harriet smiled and said, “For you, Mr.

Barton, it really is a waste of time.”

While eating, Harriet continued, “Mr. Barton, I heard Gxy

Innovations has been tackling wireless power issues recently.”

Reginald nodded and replied unhurriedly, “Yes, we’re

researching wireless power.”

“Although there is wireless power on the market now, it’s not

widely used. The reason is that during wireless charging, too

much energy is wasted, and a lot of electricity is lost to the

environment.”

“So Gxy Innovations has been researching this in the past

two years, trying to see how to reduce power waste, and even

find ways to absorb and utilize electrical currents from the

environment.”

When talking about work, Reginald seemed to shine, not at all

like a man in his thirties-he was still full of energy.

Reginald spoke earnestly, and Harriet listened with full

attention.

Not far away at the main dining table, Kelsey had been

watching Harriet and Reginald for a long time. Seeing them.

chatting happily, with only the two of them at the big table,

Kelsey patted Ellsworth and pointed at them, saying, “Ells, is

that Hara?”

“Is the one eating with Hara Reginald from Gxy Innovations?

Did hee to the conference too? How does Hara know him?”

Kelsey fired off a string of questions. Ellsworth followed her

gaze and saw Harriet listening intently to Reginald, her eyes

shining.

On this side, Ellsworth’s expression darkened.

He hadn’t expected her to know Reginald, let alone get along

with him so well.

After watching Harriet and Reginald for a while with a cold gaze,

Ellsworth withdrew his eyes and continued talking to Darrick.

Meanwhile, Reginald and Harriet were still chatting happily. For

the afternoon meeting, they sat together at the back.

Reginald wasn’t interested in business conferences, so while

the big shots were giving speeches and discussing ns, he

was dozing off.

Chapter55

Next to him, Harriet noticed that while others wereworking

and talking about making money, Reginald was sleeping, and she couldn’t help but smile.

Researchers really do have their own personalities.
