Chapter76

At this moment, Harriet was still awake. She immediately

grabbed Ellsworth’s arm.

But Ellsworth only held her tighter.

Harriet slowed her breathing, about to speak, when Ellsworth,

holding her from behind, rested his chin on her shoulder and

whispered in her ear, “I’ve never touched any of those people

outside. You think they’re dirty-I do too.”

Harriet hadn’t expected Ellsworth to exin. The grip of her

hand on his arm loosened a little.

After a long while, she finally said, “It’ste. Let’s get some

sleep.”

With that, she reached out her right hand to pull Ellsworth’s

hand away.

However… not only did she fail to pull him away, Ellsworth’s

hand slid up along her skin, brazenly caressing her.

Harriet quickly grabbed his arm. “Ellsworth!”

Ellsworth chuckled. “What, I can’t even hold you now?”

He added, “If you don’t believe what I just said, you can take me

to the hospital tomorrow if you want.”

“…” Harriet felt like he was implying something about her.

His warm hand gently massaged her lower abdomen as he asked, “Is your stomach feeling any better?”

Harriet didn’t answer him. Instead, still holding his arm, she asked softly, “Are those projects of yours almost signed?”

Harriet knew that two of Ellsworth’s major projects were already in the process of being signed.

Although Ellsworth had just given her an exnation, the

problems of their three-year marriage couldn’t be resolved with

just a few words. His debauchery was real.

They were not right for each other.

So, while Ellsworth was in a good mood, she took the

opportunity to ask about the progress.

Ellsworth’s interest clearly waned when Harriet suddenly asked

about his projects. He replied, “Not yet.”

Harriet turned to look at him and asked, “How much longer will

it take?”

Ellsworth replied with little expression, “Probably more than half

a month.”

He added, “Harriet, we can talk about the divorce, but you can

forget about leaving thepany.”

But Harriet only heard the first half of his sentence. Looking at

him, she asked, “Why will it still take more than half a month?

Hasn’t it already been almost a month?”

Ellsworthughed. “What, have you already found someone else

and can’t wait?”

It waste at night, and Harriet didn’t want to argue with.

Ellsworth. She said, “Just hurry up. I see Kelsey running to the

Since she herself didn’t matter, Harriet used Kelsey as an

excuse.

After she finished speaking, Ellsworth rolled over and pinned her in his arms, pressing her wrists down with both hands. “Ms.

Chavez, you’re really considerate of others.”

Harriet turned her face away and said nothing. Ellsworth leaned

in and kissed her.

Later, when Ellsworth got a bit too carried away, Harriet finally

couldn’t hold back and called out, “Ellsworth.”

Seeing her little temper, Ellsworthy back beside her

unhurriedly and said, “Once it’s convenient in a few days, let’s

make a baby.”

Harriet felt a chill in her heart. Had everything she just said been

for nothing?

She looked up at Ellsworth, but he just kissed her on the

forehead. “Go to sleep.”

With that, he pulled her into his arms.

The next morning, when Harriet opened her eyes, Ellsworth was

already awake.

Ellsworth wanted to drive her to thepany, but Harriet said

she needed to go to the nning bureau, so she didn’t take

Ellsworth’s car and drove off by herself.

After a busy day, as evening fell and it was time to go home to

Auburn Heights and face Ellsworth, Harriet felt down-especially

when she remembered his teasingst night and the talk about

making a baby.

Harriet was even less inclined to go back.

So she drove to the Chavez’s mansion instead, going home to

see her grandfather.

When she got home, it was still bright outside. Ralph was in the

yard ying with the birds.

Seeing this, Harriet greeted him with a big smile. “Grandpa.”

Hearing her voice, Ralph quickly put his hands away and turned

to look at Harriet. “Hara, you’re back.”

“Yes, I came back to keep youpany, Grandpa.” Handing the

pastries she brought to Deloris, Harriet walked over to Ralph

and asked, “Grandpa, how have you been feeling these past few

days?”

The old man waved his hand and said heartily, “I’m fine, not a

thing wrong with me.”

“Then you have to stay healthy and live a long life, Grandpa.”

With a smile, Harriet stayed in the yard with Ralph, ying with

the birds and helping him tend to the flowers and nts.

After dinner, Harriet didn’t mention going back, and Ralph didn’t

ask. He simply told Deloris to get the room on the second floor

ready for her.
