Chapter 56: A Threat Under The Guise Of A Feast
CHAPTER 56: A THREAT UNDER THE GUISE OF A FEAST
"Shenhal, come to your home."
When Luke uttered these words, the same thing happened again. Everyone within earshot trembled with fear.
The Dragon Language had different dialects. Different styles of speech, different behaviours and levels of respect, and so on. Luke knew every dialect and, therefore, the language itself from birth. Still, he was unaware of this. Every Hiera knew these dialects, the language itself, as if they were their own names.
It was called the Ancient Dragon Language because the first Hiera, Andromeda Ariadne Hiera, had named it that way.
This language was useful for dragons, phoenixes, and other sacred beasts. They could understand it very clearly.
Those who did not know the language, however, heard something completely different.
They heard a crackling sound, followed by the words themselves. Immediately afterwards, they were overwhelmed by the magic of the letters forming words and the words forming sentences.
This language existed to rule over the sacred beasts, which were magic itself.
The only reason the Hieras, or rather Andromeda Ariadne Hiera, did not rule over the other sacred beasts was because she did not want to.
Otherwise, the Hieras would have already possessed everything that this world could offer.
So when Luke called Shenhal out, the words that travelled from where he was to the city were like magic itself.
A pure current had passed through everyone.
Luke was still a novice, at least in speaking the language. This naturally meant he couldn’t control the pressure the language created, and he was using the ’Command’ dialect of the Ancient Dragon Language.
A roar echoed from the city’s vicinity, kilometres away, and shortly thereafter, the massive Ancient Dragon Shenhal, over a hundred metres long, appeared in the sky.
Luke smiled proudly like a father and then pointed to the area above the palace with his hand.
"There," Luke said, and as soon as he said it, Shenhal seemed to understand and entered one of the habitats formed by the ’hand’ motifs above the palace.
Luke then turned around and said, "Take Zoey’s belongings and mine to our chamber. Then choose your rooms. Kevin, Callum, Cain, Aelia and Amber will have the most luxurious rooms. The rest of you are free to choose rooms from the lower floors."
As the servants began to move after these words, Luke added, "Don’t forget to choose rooms from the east wing of the palace," and then turned to Zoey and said, "I have a task for you. I hope you’re not too tired."
As Zoey and Luke walked into the palace, Zoey asked with great curiosity what the task was, and Luke replied kindly, "I want you to write letters with your own hands. I want you to send letters to the nobles in every part of the empire and let them know that one month from now, they shall be here, and tell them that there will be a feast in honour of the official establishment of the Great City, Selene."
Zoey stood still, trying to comprehend what Luke had said for a few seconds.
"So you want to add the northernmost point, one of the four points the Empire doesn’t own on the continent, to the Empire, is that right?" Zoey asked.
Luke rolled his eyes and then said, "Not really."
"So are you trying to take revenge on your father?" Zoey asked.
"Of course not...I really do not care about him anymore, to make him proud or happy, you may say, my dear Zoey. But I could say I’m trying to take it from the nobles. After all, I’ve seen the looks on the faces of many nobles, including my father, outside of my own family. I remember every one of them. How each of them turned their backs on me." Luke replied, and then continued without pause:
"I will show everyone that a true Hiera stands in the cold of the north, forged from fire, never forgetting anything and always waiting for revenge, so that in the future, neither I nor my dear wife Zoey will be looked down upon, mocked, or disrespected."
When Zoey heard these words, she understood once again that this was all for her sake. When Zoey herself went to the imperial palace, she saw that low-ranking nobles who wanted to consult with the emperor were waiting outside the palace before she even entered.
She could feel the disrespectful glances of almost everyone of them.
Despite being a Wirgo and a woman seen as the future leader of the Wirgo Duchy, Luke’s tarnished reputation had affected her.
Luke wanted to cleanse his tarnished reputation and ensure that no one would ever do such a thing again. It wasn’t because he was aware of the glances directed at Zoey... He had simply made a guess, and it was correct.
If necessary, he would eliminate the nobles, but what he would do would be certain...
No one would be able to slander the name of Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera, the new King of the North, or Zoey Gloria Wirgo, who would one day take the Hiera surname and rule over the North with Luke as the Queen of all of the North.
This was Luke’s duty as a Hiera... and more importantly, as a future husband.
Especially with an Ancient Dragon at his command, having issued orders to other dragons and even phoenixes, no one... NO ONE could question those words or demands.
No one could refuse the over a thousand letters written in those two days.
These letters were written by Zoey and sent by Luke as threats...
[Either obey the new master of the Ancient Dragons and Ancient Phoenixes, or accept that you will not exist in the future world where the new King and the new Queen reign.]
The intention was clear, which is why Luke had personally tasked Elsa Frost and the over eight hundred Dark Elves who is not children, under her command to send over a thousand letters, and had built massive houses around Selene Palace, the new palace Luke had created, capable of accommodating nearly four thousand nobles, by erecting walls around them.
This was authority.
There were exactly 29 days left until the feast at Selene Palace.
The date was 21 March.
The feast would begin on 19 April.
Preparations had begun and were nearing completion. There was no need for rapid preparation, but the quality had to be of the highest standard.
