Chapter 78: Great Danger
CHAPTER 78: GREAT DANGER
Certain conditions were necessary for the dungeons to form.
The first of these was a sufficient number of magical monster bodies.
While Andromeda Ariadne Hiera ruled this world completely, it was very easy to create many of these dungeons because, due to the era and the backwardness of both technology and living beings, there were not many settlements in the world.
This allowed a woman like Andromeda to set the world ablaze on the backs of Ancient Dragons and Ancient Phoenixes and kill enough magical monsters.
This also allowed her to create many of the dungeons.
The second condition was the Sacred Intervention.
As the name suggests, these were dungeons created by gods and goddesses who wanted to select people who had fought in wars and make them sacred individuals, meaning people who could rise to high ranks in their temples.
Gods and goddesses such as Ares, Artemis, Zeus, Odin, and others had used this technique for a long time, and the dungeons born from these techniques still allowed the ’Hunter Guild’ to surround the regions they were in and even allowed kingdoms and empires to turn those regions into cities.
The third condition and method was the ’Life Energy’ method.
This was perhaps the dirtiest method of all, though its name did not make it entirely clear.
These were dungeons that could be formed by stealing the life energies of a spirit or sacred, or even evil, power in the region.
The North was the most likely region for this to occur.
The massive gates that opened every year for over two million years, the accumulation of millions of monsters emerging from them, and their being drawn inside to create the dungeon were undoubtedly the most likely scenario.
If this happened... it would certainly be a major problem for the new rulers of the North, as this dungeon could not be too far from the Great City, Selene.
It couldn’t be far away.
After all, the life energy was immense, aside from the fairies’ spells, and when they took into account the life energy in this region, which used to be a village, and in the river with its immense depths next to the city, everything continued to be pushed towards a disastrous possibility.
After all, the fairies couldn’t block everything; they had tried to do everything they could. Especially since these fairies had weakened so much over two million years that they had lost their size and shrunk to a small scale, which highlighted the seriousness of the situation.
So the third condition and method was the only possible method.
"A spirit?" Are we sure?" Hannah had questioned. There was no need to explain how serious this was.
"It’s possible. Many people have died in the North’s Cold. Who knows how many were betrayed or felt abandoned by the world and surrendered to the cold... It’s not impossible for malevolent spirits to have been born, Mother." Luke had replied.
"Is there anything we can do?" Hannah asked directly.
Luke, his eyes turned to ice by the white fire, replied, "I must leave as soon as I finish building the walls. Leave the empty lands to me, father. After I handle the dungeon matter, I will take care of the building constructions."
He no longer needed anyone’s help with construction or anything else; he would go directly to the other side of the north and complete the remaining wall construction, finish the walls themselves, and return to the Great City, Selene.
That’s why he didn’t even bother to listen to what Kassadin had to say; he simply climbed onto the back of the Ancient Dragon Shenhal and said, "Hurry."
Luke managed to finish every part of the walls without resting for even a second after only half a day, and without saying hello to Kassadin or anyone else, he managed to return to Great City, Selene, at seven o’clock the next morning.
The first thing he did was knock on Kevin and Callum’s doors as if he were breaking them down:
"THUD-THUD-THUD!"
Both Kevin and Callum were staying in adjacent rooms, so they woke up very quickly.
After Luke explained what had happened, the two of them stared at him with wide eyes.
"This is very bad news. We must find the dungeon immediately. I will call in the elves and soldiers. Lady Zoey is busy sleeping, so I must take on this task, Your Majesty," said Kevin, and then he began to run seriously.
"Cilla, go and tell Elsa to gather every dark elf who can fight," Luke said suddenly, and as soon as the young woman Cilla stepped out of the shadows and left the room, he looked at Callum and ordered, "Go, Callum, I’m giving you one day to find that dungeon."
Callum immediately knelt and said, "As you command, Your Majesty," and then left the hall.
Meanwhile, Luke had finally managed to return to the bedroom.
When he entered, he saw Zoey sleeping messily on the bed and went into the shower without making a sound.
He cleaned himself up and sat down on one of the chairs in the room. He didn’t think he could sleep. That’s why he kept browsing the shop panel, looking for things that might be useful in a possible battle or dungeon clearing, or at least in freeing the monsters inside.
There were even strange weapons made of elements he had never seen before, like explosive fusion bombs, but Luke could sense deep down that they wouldn’t be useful.
There was nothing in the shop panel that could increase security.
Luke knew he couldn’t enter that dungeon with Shenhal. It was impossible to bring a huge dragon into a dungeon.
That was precisely why Luke realised he had to rely on the creatures of his city and his own soldiers. Perhaps it wouldn’t be the harmless battle he had hoped for... of course, that was a possibility if the dungeon suddenly broke open.
If Luke and his men could raid the dungeon, they could do something like unlocking and sealing the dungeon themselves, because the thing that prevented a dungeon’s lock from breaking was someone entering and exiting it.
Still, this didn’t apply to unstable dungeons, and the one Luke was facing could have been the most unstable dungeon of all.
