The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World
Chapter 147- A Single Knight: Vangeance (3)
CHAPTER 147: CHAPTER 147- A SINGLE KNIGHT: VANGEANCE (3)
"It’s an intruder," the mafia members informed.
"How many and what organisation do they belong to?"
"The intruder appears to be a single knight from the Temple of Light order. I have already sent Vito to handle things".
"Well done," the boss nodded, then he thought of something interesting and smiled.
"That’s right, guild master, come with me to watch a show while we drink. Since you were so worried about the knights of the new knight order, I’ll show you how different they are from what the rumors make them to be."
While saying that, he stood up unsteadily with the bottle of rum in his hand. The others followed behind him, interested in the fight.
From their office on the third floor, they arrived at the corridor where they could easily see the parlor. Below, a single knight was surrounded by the members of the mafia.
"See, he couldn’t even defeat a single member. That’s how overblown knights are. Haha, Temple of Light my ass..."
The boss’s words were drowned by the thudding noise of bodies dropping like flies. At that instant, all eyes on the third floor widened to the extreme.
What? What just happened? The members of the mafia and the knight were just standing still in that position. Yet the next second, those guys dropped on the floor, severed at the neck.
After killing the mafia members surrounding him in a single instance, Vangeance looked at the third floor, and there they were, his targets, all three of them together.
The next second, he bent down and jumped, almost causing the parlor to collpase.
Whoosh... he was so fast that he appeared on the third floor in just a second or two. Now standing on the railing of the third floor, he looked at his targets.
HIEEEK... Not expecting the knight who was just a second ago on the ground floor to appear next to them like a ghost, the mafia boss accidentally let out a weird yell in his drunken stupor.
It was the same for the fatty union leader and the cowardly guild master. All of them were looking at the knight of the Temple of Light as if he were a monster.
"Protect the boss." At this moment, the right hand man and the other mafia members sprang into action, but the moment the knight’s sword moved, they were already dead bodies.
SHING... SHING... SHING.. light flashed, too fast for an ordinary person’s eyes to follow.
"[Holy Blade Arts] Second Technique. Your blade shall carry the weight of your vow. Your movements and your swing shall become one with your mind, breath, and blade. Finding unity in all three will remove all gaps".
Vangeance muttered the words Reinahrdt spoke on that day. As one of the knights who admired the Commander like his idol, every word and detail the latter said was etched in his memory.
Every time he swung his sword or practiced the [Holy Blade Art], he would utter those very same words as if they were a mantra. Of course, as there was no magic, the chant did nothing.
However, Reinhardt did just utter empty words. These little tidbits of words were the essence and the complete understanding of the first two techniques of the [Holy Blade Art], achieved through the Divine Trait [Heaven’s Memory] that gave him unparalleled comprehension.
So in a way, it could be said that those words were a mantra as they helped the knights reach a deeper understanding of the [Holy Blade Arts].
"Hmm, as expected of the supreme sword technique, it’s quite difficult to grasp hold of it. Although after rigorous training, I am now capable of matching the swing with my breath, it is still hard to match it with my mind and blade. Not to mention finding unity between all three is still far away. Maybe I am lacking in the weight of my vow?"
To the three leaders alive, the knights muttering sounded like the omen of death. Their minds now wide awake from the sobering reality that was the man in front of them.
"You see, I heard something while I was down there."
Suddenly, the sword was thrusted down the throat of the mafia boss.
"Was it this tongue that slandered the Order of the Temple of Light?"
SLASH... Vangeance turned his sword, cutting the mafia boss’s tongue.
"Uuurghhh... gugh!!" the latter cried in anguish, or more like gurgled with blood flowing out from his mouth.
"H-Haabm H-Habm me" (Help me) He asked for help, but there was no way those two fellows could help him. In fact, they seemed like they would faint from shock any moment now.
How did things turn out like this? How could this knight be so powerful? Was it even humanly possible?
At this sobering moment, he recalled the words the merchant guild leader told him about the Order of the Temple of Light. One of the Seven Great Knight Orders that had repeatedly fought against the forces of darkness and repelled them numerous times.
At this moment, the great feats they accomplished didn’t sound like impossible anymore.
Can a human be this powerful? Am I going to die like this?
"Don’t worry, I won’t kill you since the Commander wants to make an example out of all of you".
Vangeance slowly spoke those words near his ears.
"However, you should pick your opponents carefully next time. We are not like those fakes you called Tinker Knights".
These were the last words the Mafia boss heard before losing consciousness. As for the two others, they were already out cold from fear.
Outside the labor union building, a crowd had gathered, attracted over by the sudden loud screams and noise coming from the building. They were simply spectators and had no idea what was as going on.
The events from the iron factory had yet to reach the ears of all the central district residents.
SPLAT... SPLAT.. Suddenly footsteps could be heard drawing closer. For some reason, it sounded quite alarming, like someone walking on a wet floor or something far more disturbing than water.
