The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World
Chapter 158- The Changing City (3)
CHAPTER 158: CHAPTER 158- THE CHANGING CITY (3)
The building has to be grand, it should have the atmosphere of walking into a powerful and prestigious knight headquarters, and the stateliness to match with it.
For that part, the location also mattered. After much discussion, they were able to decide on the location. Here in the eastern district, next to a lake overlooked by the snow capped mountains in the distance.
In terms of view and placement, there could be no better place.
"Still, the demands are just way too high. Will the budget even cover it?"
For the construction of the knight headquarters, they were not using the money of the people of the Snowpoint City but rather the money that was sent by the queen.
As this was going to be their new home, every member of the Order of the Temple of Light had a say in this matter. And so with all the demands of his knights and new expenses surfacing, the budget became tight.
"Oh? Commander, so you were here?"
While he was looking at the floor plans, he called out from behind. Turning around, he saw Bob, Marcus, and Grey, his three holy knights, holding a bunch of papers.
"I was looking at the progress of our new headquarters".
"I see, well, given how there are so many constructions and projects going on all around the city, it would take some time".
"Who could have imagined the city would change this much after just a month? I cannot believe it’s the same city we saw when we first came here".
"Haha, it’s because of the Commander and his assistant".
The holy knights laughed merrily.
"So, what are you guys doing here?"
At that question from Reinhardt, the three of them showed the papers in their hand. It appeared that they were returning towards the mansion after teaching the outer district people the basics of reading and writing.
Melissa had drawn a lot of strategies and reforms to uplift the poor and the exploited. One of them was to open schools. The knights of the Temple of Light were also working as part time teachers in these schools as a part of their community service.
"To be truthful, we are starting to miss our training days. At this rate, we might just lose some of our edge," Marcus complained.
"What are you complaining about? I see you find time to train late at night every now and then" Grey retorted.
"Well, you point at him, but aren’t you too, doing the same. In fact, we are all cutting some time from our sleep and other activities to train" Bob exposed their acting.
The three then turned around and grinned at Reinhardt.
"Of course, we all started training after we saw the commander sneaking out at late night to come and train. Ever since that day, it lit a fire in all the knights, squires, and even the new recruits. Even though you are burdened with the task of managing an entire city, you still do not neglect your training. How can we have the heart to call ourselves knights if we don’t put extra effort too?"
The scene that the three holy knights were talking about was a couple of weeks ago when he sneaked out to move his body a little. Of course, thanks to the divine body carved by Dionanax and the many divine traits he possessed, even if he did not train, his body and senses would never dull.
Nevertheless, what’s the point of possessing a divine body, busted stats, and overpowered skills if you cannot even use them? It was like possessing a hypercar yet being unable to take it out for a spin?
On that day, bored of constantly being stuck to his desk, he slipped out at night to try out his divine body, his powerful stats, and his arsenal of overpowered skills.
Ever since that day, he made it his routine to take some time out of his busy schedule to try out some of his skills and learn more control over his stats. His intentions were no way as noble as these holy knights were making them out to be.
"Well, if it motivated you to train harder, then it’s more than I can ask. However, don’t worry. The training will start soon. Thanks to Melissa, the city has started to stabilise somewhat. Although the training won’t be as tough as before, I plan on working out a schedule that would not clash with your community work," Reinhardt informed.
Community work, helping the populace... it was all good. However, as one of the Seven Great Knight Orders, they needed to maintain a certain level of strength, and for tha,t training was necessary.
The Holy Knights rejoiced and turned around to leave, when suddenly Marcus remembered something.
"Ah, that’s right, Commander. I wanted to ask you something," He started blushing a little "What do you think of Miss Melissa?"
What brought that question? Reinhardt and even the other holy knights were confused.
"She is a competent woman who is far adept at administration than anyone in this city."
"I see, then is she seeing someone?"
Ah, so that was the case? Everyone finally understood what he was getting at. That said... this fool. Bob smacked his forehead and then forcefully made the Holy Knight bow his head.
"Forgive him, Commander. He had no ill intention behind saying that".
"Hey, what the hell are you doing? What’s there to ask forgiveness for when I was just asking about Miss Melissa’s relationship status?" Marcus slapped Bob’s hands away, perplexed by his actions.
"You fool, did you not notice?"
"Notice what?"
"There is no other way to make this dimwit realise other than directly breaking his heart," Grey spoke up "Miss Melissa; no, more like Misses Melissa is a woman who is already married. Stop oogling her dude. She has a ring on her ring finger. And besides, she is a noblewoman who is married to a Marquis, she is way out of your league".
