The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World
Chapter 180- The Cliff End
CHAPTER 180: CHAPTER 180- THE CLIFF END
"Husband, you finally woke up. Is your health alright?"
Boulevard nodded his head, "I feel a lot better after that ginger lemon tea you left for me".
Last night he drank too much; thankfully, his wife put him to bed and even made a hangover relieving tea for him.
"I see in that case, do you remember anything from last night?"
She questioned in concern. However, her inner motive was something only known to her and Reinhardt.
"About that, it’s all a haze. No matter how much I try to recall, I cannot remember what happened last night. Though I do recall we were all enjoying last night. What a bummer, it had to be stopped because of me." Boulevard looked a little regretful.
"O-Oh, don’t worry about it, it was indeed a fun party."
Melissa’s acting was impeccable. Nevertheless, there was still a trace of relief on her face from the fact that her husband did not remember anything from last night. That aside...
"Are you heading out already?"
"Yeah, regretfully, I cannot stay another day here. I have a meeting with a baron from a nearby territory. Then I have to head back to the capital".
It looked like the Marquis had a fair share of his own burdens.
"Very well, it was good meeting with you. Especially last night, I had a lot of fun". Reinhardt turned to look at Melissa, whose face blushed for some reason.
"Ah, Sir Reinhardt, for a divine person such as you to say that. I feel so gratified".
There he goes again, once he starts saying stuff like that, it becomes quite weird.
After talking for a while, Marquis Boulevard left. Now, it was only Reinhardt and his assistant inside the office.
"Come here you," Saying that, he wrapped his hands around Melissa and pulled her closer to his embrace.
"W-We can’t do it here. Lord Governor has a lot of work that needs his attention right now. M-Maybe we can do it later tonight".
While blushing red from the passionate touch of the man with whom she had an affair with last night, she prioritised her work first. Quickly brushing aside his hand, she ran towards her desk.
Well, he was only teasing her. However, after seeing that side, a part of him wanted to do it in the office with her now. Regretfully, he had far greater and important work to do now.
The letter sent by her majesty detailed the content of their new mission. An ancient labyrinth had appeared near the borders of the tainted land. The knight order to discover it was the Knights of the Lunar Veil, one of the Seven Great Knight Orders that only recruits female knights.
What’s more, it was led by one of the most beautiful and powerful women in the kingdom, Leona Marcella Valkyrie.
They have already started exploring the labyrinth. However, after a certain floor, their path was blocked. To break through that, they needed the aid of another knight order.
Her majesty, after reviewing Leona’s report, chose to assign the mission to his knight order.
"Hmm, Her Majesty knows that I have my hands full with just managing my new territory. However, despite that she chose to assign this mission to my order..."
It could only mean two things. Either the thing blocking the path of the Knights of Lunar veil was so powerful that it needed the combined strength of two of the Seven Great Commanders to break it open, or they needed holy skills that his order specialised in to get past whatever that was blocking them.
"I guess there is no helping it".
"You say that, but your face looks quite happy, Lord Reinhardt."
When he reported that he would be leaving her and Ryley in charge of the safety of the city, Melissa narrowed her eyes and gave him a deep look.
Was it that apparent? Reinhardt touched his face. Indeed, he was quite happy about it. These past couple of weeks, since coming here, his days have been quite hectic but fulfilling in their own way.
However, there was still a part of him, or should he say the knight side of him, that was craving for battles and adventure.
"As I thought, you can keep the knight out of battle, but not the battle out of one." His secretary, as if reading his thoughts, sighed exaggeratedly.
"Alright, you can leave managing the territory to me. However, you should be careful. I don’t know what my father is planning, but he will try to sabotage your mission somehow," Melissa warned.
Now that she was completely attached to him after last night’s event, his safety was more of her priority rather than the mission her father gave her.
"Then I leave things in your care here."
After finishing the pile of work that needed his immediate attention, he made his way to the new headquarters of the Order of the Temple of Light.
On his way out, Karina manifested before him.
"Master, may I come..." Before she could complete her sentence, Reinhardt cut her off.
"But, there is a chance that someone might harm you," She stubbornly insisted on going with him. She didn’t want to see him get hurt again, especially afterwhat happened to him when he led the knights of the Eastern Front Alliance to fight against a battalion of the Forces of Darkness.
The historic battle that was now known as the Battle of the Black Tide which she hadn’t been a part of.
She didn’t want the past to repeat itself; she did want to just be a bystander and see her master get hurt again.
Seeing her current attitude, it didn’t look like she would listen to him even if he told her to stay.
"The real reason I want you to stay is because I still cannot trust Melissa. Although she is attached to me right now, there is no guarantee that she will never betray me now that I am no longer in her sight".
