The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World
Chapter 362- Late Night Talks With The Crimson Knight
CHAPTER 362: CHAPTER 362- LATE NIGHT TALKS WITH THE CRIMSON KNIGHT
Reinahrdt was lying on top of the ruins of a collapsed building, gazing at the moon, not far from the tents of his leiges. At this moment, footsteps sounded out, and a figure stood beside him.
"You can just lie down next to me, you know". He tried using humor. However, this ice queen was impossible to melt.
"I’ll wring that tongue out of yours if you joke about things like that."
Who else could the woman who couldn’t take a joke be other than Erza Crimsonstar?
"Haha" the former chuckled.
Seeing him in a good mood, the Crimson Knight snorted and changed the subject.
"By the way, who was the opponent you were facing?"
"Ah. Just a random no name douchelord who thought that he was smart."
Of course, Reinhard was referring to Malcroth, the Eleventh Heavenly King.
"To call a Heavenly King a no no name random demon. It looks like you have become quite confident in your abilities".
Others might not have been able to tell. However, it was impossible to deceive the senses of a level 10 hero, especially when the Heavenly King released his aura like that.
When Malcroth fought with Reinhardt, or more like getting one sidedly bullied, the power spike could be felt even from the royal palace where she was. Given her experience fighting such monstrous demons, she quickly understood it was a heavenly king.
"Had you mentioned that you slayed the other Heavenly King, Aetherion would have rewarded you immensely. Not to mention it would also improve the relationship between Aetherion and Solaris and put the former in your debt. So why didn’t you say it?"
Erza questioned. Seeing her being all chatty, he glanced at the beauty next to him. Perhaps it was because of the moonlit night, or perhaps he was in a good mood after foiling the plan of the demons.
However, he was quite enjoying her company. He thought for a second before answering her question.
"You should know the kind of panic that it would create if the news about the capital of Aetherion being attacked by two Heavenly kings got out. The effects of the last war with the Forces of Darkness are yet to fade. Humanity is still reeling back from the loss of the past wars"...
"If I spread the news about them moving again, it would plunge the small kingdoms into the pits of despair. Additionally, this was all Vaerion’s plan. I just took part in it because why not? Cleaning those pieces of trash from this world is one of the things I enjoy the most. It is rewarding enough as it is, so I didn’t want to share limelight with him."
This was the Dark Knight’s kingdom, and he was their hero. It should just stay like this.
Of course, as a woman, she could not understand such brotherhood principles. Nevertheless, she did understand why he did not reveal the existence of two Heavenly Kings.
After all, just encountering one was enough to almost destroy their kingdom; imagine having two pop up inside your kingdom.
Erza was just having these thoughts when Reinhardt continued, dropping the bomb of the decade.
"Besides, there weren’t just two Heavenly Kings plotting against this kingdom".
At that very instant, the eyes of this woman, who hardly showed any emotions other than a serious or murderous face, opened wide. Shock; no, unease evident on her face.
Three Heavenly Kings making a move, this was unheard of ever since the last all out war against the Forces of Darkness, which broke out more than fifty years ago.
Even in the battle of Black Tide, no more than two Heavenly Kings showed their face. However, what did this man just say? Not two but three Heavenly Kings were involved in the attack against Aetherion?
Reihardt did not explain, nor did Erza doubt his words. The two heroes became silent, with neither of them speaking for a while, only gazing at the beautiful moon hanging overhead.
Cold breeze that signaled the coming of winter, the beauty by the side, and the magnificent moon, the scene could not be any perfect.
"Do you think the Forces of Darkness are about to make their move again?"
The Crimson Knight took Reinahrdt up on his offer and sat beside him. Well, he said to lie down next to him, but this was a good start. At least this woman wasn’t intent on killing him.
That said about the words she spoke, it’s not like he didn’t understand. The last all out war against the demons that happened more than fifty years ago, practically destroyed numerous countries.
Kingdoms as powerful as the seven great nations were turned into ruins, and heroes sacrificed their lives to protect that which was important to them.
The damages that humanity suffered were unprecedented; the death toll was so big that just remembering it sent shudders down one’s spine. What’s more, this was just one of the many wars recorded in history.
There were countless more wars since the onset of the demons more than a thousand years ago. However, not all records remained intact, as many of them were burnt or couldn’t be passed down in the ensuing chaos.
In fact, humanity had forgotten about many of the past battles and the catastrophic losses they suffered throughout the years. The fact that they were left with few final bastions of land was proof enough of their continuous defeat at the hands of the Forces of Darkness.
In the last war, they had barely managed to stop the demons’ advance and had to pay a great price. The great war that their ancestor took will soon become theirs. And as the heroes of humanity, the so called final wall, it was upon them to make sure humanity still has a future.
"Don’t worry, I don’t think the Forces of Darkness will move anytime soon. Humanity still has more time to develop itself and find new ways to fight the demon".
The Seven Kingdoms were already quite close to figuring out how to use the Seven Supreme Treasures and were steadily advancing their technology through the knowledge found in the ancient labyrinth.
