CHAPTER 54: CHAPTER 54- DUNGEON

However, today was not like your any usual day. Demons... the vile race had intruded their village, and the appearance of the knights seemed to have become a reason of relief for them, at least at this moment.

The demi humans spurred by Reinhardt’s divine presence and [Voice of Providence], finally calmed down and began to assess the situation.

The demons had intruded their village; however, this discovery only made others more inquisitive as to how they managed to sneak into their village. The demi humans were not stupid, once their mind was cleared and they had some time to think about it, they quickly realised the answer.

That white pillar of light that covered the village square for a moment, and the sudden appearance of demons and demonic humans after that.

Even an idiot could connect the dots from there. The demons hadn’t intruded their village, but were already there, mixed among them and masquerading as a demi human. If not for that divine pillar of light, they wouldn’t even have realised their presence.

The demons had been posing as their friends and family for this long, and they had no clue about it. What’s more, given how many of the demons turned out to be demi humans who had been living in this village for a long time, it looked like they had been scheming this for a long time.

A chill ran down their spine, some of the demi humans even turned pale at the chilling realisation. The fight with the forces of the demon, the camaraderie they shared with their friends, the love of their family, the village elders and chiefs wise words... even the ritual of the Fire festival— all of this was fake?

"So you came, huh. I knew it, my eyes weren’t deceiving me when I saw you for the first time. A divine being seems to reside in your body... You are the very bane of all demonkind" Zerina smiled, walking over.

"You praise me too much. I was just lucky to have seen through the deception of the demons" Reinhardt responded, not being too arrogant or humble.

"Haha, be that may, you were able to see through the faux appearance of the village. I knew I could count on you".

"So you were already aware that the village was ruled by the demons!?"

He glanced the panther tribe woman, from her words, it was clear that she had seen through the deception of this village. However, since she was powerless to change anything, she could only rely on a knight who actually had the strength to do it.

Finally, her long wait was rewarded, a knight so powerful and carrying an aura so vast that he looked like a literal god, appeared in front of her sight one day. Thanks to him, she was finally able to open the eyes of the other demi humans and show them the real face of the village.

Hearing the conversation between Zerina and Reinhardt, the demi humans realised something. They must have hatched a plan to expose the demons living in the village.

"You wretch, so it was your doing? If I knew you had those eyes, I would have blinded you the very moment you came to the village with your tribe" Of course, not everyone was relieved by this.

Elmond, for example, as one of the few tribal chiefs who didn’t disintegrate after the holy light hit him, was furious at the discovery of his plans. Since he was not a demon or a demonic human, Reinhardt’s skill [Radiant Ascension] didn’t do him any damage.

However, that did not mean that he was not in the mix with the demons.

"I.. I.. I was so cloooose!! If only those damn knights did not interfere, then I would have... " Elmond raged and almost let slip out some crucial information.

"It’s over Elmond, I know what you are up to. I have seen everything with my eyes, it’s better for you to give up" Zerina, now confident with the presence of Reinhardt beside her, boldly declared.

"Hehe, so the little kitty has now grown some wings, huh? If you think that I lost just because you have the aid of the knight order, then you are mistaken. Hehe, I will show you all how very wrong you are. You should have just stayed ignorant and gone with the flow. This is all on you now".

Saying this, Elmond wasted no time. He hurriedly grabbed the seven demi humans chosen for the sacred altar and pushed open the gates of the abyss and headed inside the dungeon.

"Everyone, don’t let him get inside" Zerina hurriedly shouted and rushed forward. However, just as she took a few steps forward, from the darkness inside the gates, multiple demonic monsters showed their faces.

Eyes red with savagery and jaws dripping with blood, they looked ready to pounce. Forest Snakes, Giant Spiders, Black Ligers and even Manticores... the enemy line up was completely packed.

"Oh no!" Zerina instinctively backed down, never expecting there to be an army of demonic monsters ready for them.

Just as she took a step back, a broad hand rested on her shoulder, immediately dispersing all her worries. That’s right, there was no need to worry since the knight and his order were right here.

Reinhardt took a step forward, his presence and aura boosting the morale of everyone present.

"Knights of the Temple of Light, hear my order!! This is not a drill, show the results of your training and engage the enemy in front of you... Glory to the Temple of Light!!"...

"Glory to the Temple of Light" the knights of the realm roared, their defiant shouts dispersing the ominous atmosphere of the dungeon gate.

CLANG... CLANG... ROAR... a battle erupted, knights of the Temple of Light vs the demonic monsters. As one of the seven great knight orders with a legacy of more than hundred years, the Temple of Light order was already strong with cemented and profound sword techniques, skill and formation.
