CHAPTER 63: CHAPTER 63- SIR FREYNARD

After about an hour or so, the demi humans were all set to leave. The return trip was longer than when they came to the borderlands. Not only did they need to avoid areas overflowing with monsters, they also had to avoid places where they could be robbed by bandits.

Of course, the order of the knights and the demi humans were strong enough to fend off the likes of bandits. However, since they were also carrying goods and livestock, it made things more difficult.

Reinhardt planned on avoiding areas that he could sense were dangerous. However, things sometimes don’t go as you planned. There were a couple of encounters with beast hordes and bandits who didn’t know any better.

Of course, Reinhardt used those encounters to strengthen the new recruits. Another thing that he didn’t miss even during their expedition was the knights’ training.

The more one pushed one’s body, the higher the chances of one breaking through their limits. He was using this trip to accelerate the growth of his new recruits and help them improve their stats.

This kind of training might not be effective for those above level 5, but it was extremely important for those level 3 and below, and had uneven allocation of stats.

And so, just like that, a month passed by. After settling down the new locals to a village newly cleared for them, Reinhardt and the Order of the Temple of Light finally arrived at Lumiose City, their base of operation.

"Everyone, you are dismissed for the day. Report back tomorrow morning at the training ground".

Once inside the Arcknight territory, he dismissed his subordinates and entered the palace. The maids and the butlers made a line to welcome him.

"Where is father?"...

"He should be at Orchid Mansion’s backyard with Lady Verdia and young master Arthur".

The first thing he did after entering the palace was report back to his father. The Orchid mansion, as the name suggests, was a beautiful manor surrounded by an orchid garden and a mesmerising view of the snowy mountains in the distance.

When Reinhardt stepped into the backyard, he saw his father, Raymond, with Arthur as the latter trained with his new set of sword and armor that he got from the Dawn Forge.

Given Reinhardt’s presence, it was impossible not to notice him. As soon as he got near, Raymond sensed his presence and put down his sword which was after Arthur.

"Son, you have returned!" he acknowledged, turning his head towards the east where a handsome knight slowly walked over.

"I heard about what transpired from the message you sent me. I must say, I was quite surprised to see a huge white hawk suddenly enter my study. So you have learned to summon a familiar, huh? Haha, as expected of my Son. I can brag your accomplishment to the house of Heavendoor family now".

Raymond patted his son’s shoulder in joy while Arthur happily ran up to him.

"Brother, you are back!! Teach me how to swing a sword".

He caressed his little brother’s hair while saying ’next time’ and then placed his attention back on his father.

"Father, there is something I must report to you."

Seeing how serious his son was, he sent Arthur to return to his mother’s side while the two of them walked around the garden discussing the important matters.

"I read your report. Is it about the matters of the settlement of the Demi Humans? You know that we cannot shelter them without the approval of the royal family for not long right?"...

"Yeah, I am aware. I plan to make a trip to the capital soon. However, this is not the reason I came to you"...

"What is it? You can tell me everything"...

"In this recent expedition, I encountered another demon. I high ranking one at that. It was called Xolvoth, and it declared itself to be the right hand of one of twelve heavenly kings" Reinhardt began telling the events that transpired a month ago.

"Right hand of one of the twelve heavenly kings... it has to be at least a Demon General. What is such a powerful demon doing so close to the kingdom’s border?"

Usually, demons of such high power can only be encountered deep within the fallen territory or when the forces of darkness show themselves in front of the borders of a kingdom.

"It’s not only that, they were very close to creating a dungeon there. Had I not arrived at the scene in time, the demon would have likely succeeded in creating a high ranking dungeon, causing more of the lands of the kingdom to fall under the hands of the demons"...

"I did some research on Xolvoth, he was a powerful demon who was defeated by Sir Freynard and a few more knights many, many years ago"...

"Sir Freynard huh... he was a renowned knight of the Kingdom of Lunaris and a knight commander who came one generation before me. He led the now renowend Griffin Knights to retake many lands that were previously seized from humanity by the demons".

Raymond added. Even to his generation, Sir Freynard was a hero, a legend whose tales of valor were still sung by the bards all over the kingdom.

"Anyways, what you are saying is that the demon Xolvoth was revived and was causing mayhem around the borders of our kingdom?".

Reinhardt nodded his head "That’s right, but it’s not all. The territory where I killed Xolvoth falls under Earl Malmond’s jurisdiction".

At those words, his father’s eyes went wide, and a deep frown of concern appeared on their face. Be it the case with demons possessing their knights earlier, and now this. It looks like they can no longer shrug toff his problem that was growing in their kingdom.

"Are you going to bring this subject when you meet with His Majesty?"...

"That’s right" he nodded. The journey this time reminded him how much of a problem the demons were to this world. They were like an infection that needed to be gotten rid of as soon as possible.

To fulfil Dioanax’s will, he cannot stay passive.
