CHAPTER 49: 049

The following few days, Tristan arrived at a conclusion on what to do and when he announced to Agatha she was more perplexed.

"Why do you want to return on your own? I can call him here to pick you up". She asked in bewilderment as the Omega shook his head and smiled softly at her.

But despite his request, she sent him away with an escort. Because it was dangerous to let him go alone.

Their drive took a few hours and they arrived at the pack house just a moment from noon.

Few eyes stared at the car in a strange way and some stopped to see who was going to come out of it.

Tristan remained seated in the car and worked quietly on his nerves as he became too nervous.

It’s been months, he doesn’t know what to expect.

What if the Alpha had forgotten about him?

What if he no longer wants him?

He tucked a single strand of hair behind his ear as it had dangled free from the low pony tail he had put his hair.

Since he didn’t have access to things when he was with Agatha, his hair had grown relatively longer than before.

After a few minutes of tense silence he finally stepped out of the car, he almost ran back inside the car when he was suddenly surrounded.

He frowned in confusion and was looking around warily until someone hugged him suddenly.

His yelp was muffled as his face was covered with the person’s hair. But she finally pulled away.

Mariah stood with teary eyes while checking him all over.

"Are you okay now?" She asked eagerly while still holding his hand.

Tristan nodded and she smiled widely and hugged him again. Tristan winced as her arms squeezed his body.

"Let’s go inside" she said after she pulled away and saved him from the prying eyes of the crowd.

Tristan wanted to ask why he was suddenly being surrounded by people he barely knew but her attention divided and she chatted on.

"I’m happy you came back today, that two faced bitch has crawled her way back in here.

Would you believe that?

I have never liked her since I was little. She was so spoiled and never did things herself. How can she think she is worthy of my brother? Only a blind person would fall for her cheap and tacky tricks" Mariah continued until they stopped at a door.

Tristan knew without doubt that they were standing in front of the Alpha’s study. His heart pounded fast in his chest as they were just inches away from the door.

Tristan thought of what to do and say when they saw him again, nothing was coming to his mind as he had suddenly blanked out.

Without announcing their arrival, Mariah pushed the door open.

Tristan stood rigidly behind her but he looked into the room and he froze.

Seated still on his seat with his head thrown to the back was Alpha Mitch, a cigarette burnt slowly as he held it between the fingers on his left hand. The other arm was slung across his face.

"What the hell are you doing?!. Do you intend to set the whole house on fire!" Mariah yelled and waved a hand in front of them. Trying to dispel the fog that hung heavily on the air.

Alpha Mitch didn’t move a muscle as he remained in his own world with his eyes still closed.

"Mitch! Mitch!—

"Mitch" Tristan called for the third time not giving her time to say his name for the third.

Alpha Mitch heard this time from afar, he frowned and thought he was hallucinating from the crazy things he had done in the last few days. He paused and listened again.

But the scent that slowly filtered into his nose despite the choking smell of the cigarette made him open his eyes.

Raising his head slowly, he stared blankly at the entrance of his study for a few seconds as if he couldn’t recognise the person standing there.

The fog around his eyes slowly lifted and his face became clearer to view.

Tristan felt tears gather in his eyes as he saw the dark eyes of the Alpha.

His face looked worn and haggard. They stared at each other for a few seconds before Mariah broke the silence.

"I will be back" She said and left quietly.

With just the two of them in the room, Tristan gently shut the door and turned to face the Alpha that seemed to have gone petrified.

Tristan became more nervous under his intense gaze and he walked slowly towards him.

Tristan wordlessly took the cigarette out of his hand and crushed it inside the ashtray.

Alpha Mitch watched his every movement as if hypnotized by a spell.

He had thought he was in a dream until he took his cigarette out of his hand.

"You’re real" he muttered with a slight frown and watched in a daze as the Omega smiled at him.

"As real as you are," Tristan replied with a chuckle.

Alpha Mitch slowly rose from the chair, he swallowed as if he wanted to say something but changed his mind.

There was nothing he could say, words were not enough to describe what he was feeling.

He reached out and touched Tristan’s cheek, just a caress probably to confirm his sanity and the person before him wasn’t just his mind messing with him.

Tristan leaned into his touch and closed his eyes for a few seconds.

He breathed in shakingly as he looked up at him. Alpha Mitch used his other hand to draw him for a hug.

It was as if he just woke up from the dream, sitting back down into his seat he brought the Omega down with him.

His head nestled in his nape, and Tristan sat astride him.

They stayed that way for a few minutes until Tristan gently pulled away to look at his face and he gasped in shock as the Alpha’s head fell back unconsciously.
