CHAPTER 81: 081

"Mom, is everything alright?" Mariah asked as she noticed the strange look on her face.

She looked between the two of them and her gaze lingered on the Omega.

"Can you leave us alone for a while?" She finally asked and Tristan frowned in confusion. But he was also a little curious.

Mariah looked just as confused as he is but she left anyway.

Once the door closed after her, the woman in front of Tristan smiled.

"Now tell me, how far along are you?" She asked with a warm smile.

Tristan froze and stared at her with widened eyes.

His lips moved but no words came out.

"I do not understand". He said finally after a few seconds of silence. Trying to see if he could pretend to her.

"Don’t be surprised that I know.

I know that smell from anywhere, and I am very happy right now.

Is that why he rushed to come back here to finally do the mating ceremony?" She asked eagerly.

"Sit". She said and gestured at the seat beside her.

"He doesn’t know". Tristan replied nervously after he sat down.

He looked down at his clamped hands and waited for her to scold him but instead she got worried.

"Why?

He would be so happy to know!".

"Do you think so?

I found out while we were apart and I haven’t had enough courage to tell him.

I don’t know if he would be happy or not". Tristan confessed, and he finally felt a little relieved as he shared his fears with her.

"Of course!

Why do you think the elders had been clamouring for him to get mated?.

It’s because of an heir." She continued in a cheerful voice.

"I was sad when you left and I hoped that you won’t leave him totally. I can see now that my wish came to pass.

Do you want me to tell him?" She asked as his expression remained somber.

"No!

Don’t tell, I will tell him myself." Tristan hurried to stop her and she nodded.

"So far along are you?" She asked again.

Tristan laughed nervously.

"I actually don’t know".

"Huh?

Never mind, after the mating ceremony, the pack doctor would do a thorough check on you." She said and gently held his hand and gave a squeeze.

She stood up and went to her vanity and pulled out a little sweater.

"I made this a while back, I have been keeping it for years. I’m glad someone that would use it is on the way". She explained holding up the tiny cloth.

Tristan smiled warmly at her but he was rapidly thinking of how to tell his Alpha.

A knock sounded on the door and interrupted them, without waiting for a response it opened.

Alpha Mitch walked inside and cast a frown at his mother before his gaze softened as it went to the Omega.

"Come". He gestured to him.

Tristan looked at his mother and was glad to see that she had hid the infant cloth.

"I don’t want you staying far away from me". Alpha Mitch complained as he led him through the hallways.

Tristan sighed softly and followed wordlessly.

"There is something I want to tell you". He spoke up when they were a short distance away from their room.

"And what is that?" He asked after they got into the room.

He pulled him to sit on his lap as he sat down on the edge of the bed.

Tristan felt his heart beat rapidly as he struggled to form words to describe what he wanted to say.

Alpha Mitch nuzzled his neck as he waited patiently.

"I-

Tristan didn’t even get to start his statement before the Alpha phone rang disrupting the moment.

The Alpha spoke on the phone for a few more minutes before he ended the call.

He stood up immediately and turned to with an urgent look on his face.

"Wait for me, I will be back very soon". He said and kissed him on the forehead.

Tristan watched him go with a sad feeling creeping all over him.

Time is ticking and it would be bad if he couldn’t tell him today and he then gets angry tomorrow.

The Alpha didn’t return and Tristan slept off while waiting, and without going out for dinner.

The rest got worried and came to look for him but was relieved to see him deeply asleep.

Nita and Mariah tip-toed out of the room and went back to the living room to join the drinking activities going on.

Due to the cancellation of the last mating ceremony, no members from other packs were invited this time and the territories surrounding the pack house thoroughly combed for any threat while the security was also tightened.

And what got Alpha Mitch away for hours was the arrival of Alpha Raul.

The other Alpha King claimed he was there to congratulate him but Alpha Mitch didn’t let him take a single step forward except back to his pack.

But as stubborn and childish as he is, Alpha Raul found fun in the two of them watching each other in the middle of the night.

"Don’t you think your mate would get jealous if he found out that you spent the night before your mating ceremony with another person?" Alpha Raul asked as he blew a mouthful of smoke in Alpha Mitch’s direction.

"Go back Raul" Alpha Mitch replied in a calm voice instead of responding to his words.

"I’m here to see that mating ceremony, why won’t you let me in?!" Alpha Raul yelled, feigning annoyance but he let out a loud laughter in the next second.

"Wait, you don’t think that I’m here to steal your Omega right?" Alpha Raul asked, his tease getting on Alpha Mitch’s nerve.

When it was a few minutes to midnight, Alpha Mitch turned to his men.

"Keep him here if he won’t go back, don’t hesitate to attack if he acts funny. I’m going back to the pack house". He ordered them and threw a side look at Alpha Raul.

"Take me with you!" Alpha Raul yelled after him but the moment Alpha Mitch car drove out of sight, his expression changed.

He threw his cigarette on the floor and stepped on it aggressively.

"You will grovel at my feet Mitch, and it won’t be long before it happens". He said coldly under his breath.
