Chapter 40: "Take me to her at once!"
CHAPTER 40: "TAKE ME TO HER AT ONCE!"
"Mother?"
Lisa was short of words as she stared at Nyx. Nyx was so filled with shame, she wished she could just melt away from her presence.
Dora arched her brows, "You know this lady?"
Nyx couldn’t respond, what was her mother doing here?
Lisa blinked, after a while, she spoke up, "Nyx? What... How come you’re here? You’re supposed to be in the palace."
Dora eyes widened, "Palace?"
Nyx couldn’t respond, she only avoided Lisa’s gaze.
Liza’s eyes landed on the baby.
"Whose child is this? Don’t tell me it’s yours!"
She gulped, tears threatening to fill her eyes. She slowly nodded.
Liza gasped loudly, "Why are you here? What brought you here?" She half yelled.
"Please madam, you are creating a scene, it is still very early," a vendor nearby told her.
Lisa calmed down and faced Nyx, "What happened to you?"
Nyx didn’t know how to respond, she just bowed her head in shame. Dora was still surprised and didn’t know what to say.
She looked at Nyx who was refusing to say anything, "Nyx?"
Disappointment was written all over Lisa’s face, "I am still waiting for your reply, what made you leave the palace?"
Nyx struggled to speak but the words weren’t coming out of her mouth, she just kept avoiding her mother’s gaze.
"I do not think she is in the right mood for all these kind of questions madam, you should probably allow her to express herself in her own way."
Liza squinted her eyes and looked at Dora, "You can not tell me how to treat my own daughter, I am the one who is her mother, not you."
Dora frowned, "Well, you are acting all grumpy and rude, how do you expect her to answer you?"
Liza was surprised at Dora’s reply, "And who are you?"
Nyx spoke up, "Uh.. mother, I will explain everything, there is no need for you to start creating a scene here."
Liza threw her a dangerous glare, "Well? Start doing so."
"Madam, we are in the market, why would she want to explain in a market? We are expecting customers whom we will want to attend to, there is no need for her to be somewhere else, explaining herself."
Liza held her head, "Goodness, did he throw you out?" She asked Nyx ignoring Dora’s remark.
She shook her head, "I left of my own will."
Liza was about to reply when another customer came by, "These sweaters are really nice, can I get some of these?"
Dora immediately attended to her. Liza took Nyx’s hand and led her to somewhere away from that area.
"Tell me immediately, what happened? Why did you leave the palace? He married another lady and now she is the Luna!"
"That is his fated mate, I can not be his wife anymore."
Lisa widened her eyes, "So he divorced you?"
She nodded, "Yes, he did."
Lisa was shocked, "Oh my goodness, no wonder Queen Elena no longer visits us, because you are no longer his wife!" She gritted her teeth.
Nyx looked away, "I could not stay there anymore, my stay is no longer of importance there," she said.
Lisa grimaced, "Hmm, then why did you come here?"
She didn’t reply, she kept mute.
"I am talking to you!"
Nyx sighed, "I do not have an answer to that, I do not want to answer it, just go back home, I will be fine here."
Lisa twisted her lips, "I now know that you are a cursed child. Even the Alpha could not stay with you for long," she spat in disgust and walked out on her.
Surprisingly, Nyx’s eyes didn’t well up with tears. She was expecting a response such as that, it didn’t come as a shock.
"Who knows? Maybe I am cursed," she said softly.
She sniffed, "So long my child is my light, nothing can go wrong," she smiled sadly.
She sat down there for a while, trying to absorb all her worries in the morning, she wasn’t going to keep living like this, crying all the time just because of someone who didn’t care about her existence.
"I will be fine, everything will be fine one day."
After a while, she returned back to their spot to meet Dora.
"Your mother is not a nice lady at all."
She sighed, "The reason I never went back home."
Dora shook her head, "You made a good decision. She doesn’t even care if you are doing well or not!"
"Let’s forget about her, she doesn’t matter for now."

Lisa hurried to the palace gate, she was sure this informs of hers would profit her in some kind of way, "Well, even if queen Elena stops visiting us, I could make a fortune out of this," she smiled feeling pleased.
She knocked on the gate, a guard opened it.
"What do you want?"
"I wish to speak with the king," she said, her head held high.
"You think you can just speak with him?"
"I have an information that is very vital to him."
He looked at her from head to toe, "Tell me about it, I will pass on the information to him."
"No, I want to pass it to him myself," she said stubbornly.
He growled, "Wait here, let me go tell him."
He came back after a while, "You can come in," he led her in.
She led to where Oberon was. The guard bowed and left.
"You wanted to see me," Oberon said coldly.
She bowed, "Yes, your Majesty, I have very important news."
"Spit it out."
"You once were asking about the whereabouts of Nyx."
He arched his brow, "Yes?"
"I know where she is your majesty."
His eyes widened, "You do? Where is she? Where did you find her?"
"At the big market," she replied.
He blinked his eyes, "What was she doing there?"
"She is a vendor there, she sells wooly sweaters."
Oberon gasped, "Selling sweaters?"
"Yes your majesty."
"Take me to meet her at once!"
