CHAPTER 45: DECISIONS COME TO LIGHT

Their hearts skipped, for some minutes, they neither spoke nor moved, they just stared at the window in shock.

Nyx gulped, "What was that?" She asked her voice shaky.

Dora didn’t reply, she only studied the window and the moving shadow. She summoned all her courage, and walked towards the window quietly.

Nyx didn’t speak or try to stop her, she just watched on.

Dora got to the window and peeped, she tried to get the full view of the person who was at the window but couldn’t.

She squinted her eyes, so she could see him properly. He had long ears and there was a lot of fur on his body.

Her eyes widened in realisation, it was a rogue lycan! She was speechless for a while she she was watched him completely transform into a complete human form.

She gulped and went back to Nyx, "It is a rogue lycan."

Nyx’s heart almost left her, she covered her mouth and stared at Archi, "What are we going to do? There is no where to run to, or probably he is not heading here?"

"We are the only ones here, where else would he go? I do not think he is passing by,"she whispered.

Nyx’d heart was thumping, "Who knows what he would do if he saw my child," she held Archi close to her chest.

"Let us go hide somewhere Nyx, probably if he does not see anyone around, he would go away."

Nyc agreed with her, they both scrambled to find a hiding place.

Nyx looked at Archi, he didn’t look very comfortable, he made faces but as of now, Nyx could almost do nothing.

"Please Archi do not cry, at least, not now," she prayed within her.

"Come on now, keep quiet," she hushed her.

Nyx nodded.

For the rest few minutes, there was complete silence which made them curious, "Do you think he is gone?" Dora whispered.

"I do not think so, but we can not come out now, let us wait and see."

They waited for a few more minutes, but still did not hear anything. Dora was a bit confused.

"I think I should check," she got up and attempted to go and check when she heard the door in the living room break open.

She exchanged glances with Nyx, shock paralyzing them both.

"Oh, my goodness," Nyx covered her mouth.

Dora quickly returned to sit beside Nyx, "He has come into the house," she gulped down nervously.

Nyx held Archi more tightly, "I do not know what will happen now."

Dora closed her eyes and muttered some words to herself.

"I know you are somewhere around here, it is better you show yourself."

They were surprised, "He knows where we are," Dora gasped.

Nyx enclosed Archi in her arms completely.

"Come on, show yourself, "What is the need of hiding? Come out now!" He said roughly.

They were shaking with fear, "What does he want?"

"Come out young ladies, just hand over the baby and I will leave. He is the reason I am here."

Nyx’s jaws dropped, "For Archi?" She whispered.

"Come out, there is no need to be scared, all I just want is the baby, nothing else," he cackled.

She held him more protectively, "Oh moon goddess," she said silently.

His footsteps were drawing closer to their hiding place and he seemed to come in their direction.

"Are you not ready to come out? What harm is there? Just hand over the baby!" He roared.

They were both startled, Dora almost screamed but Nyx was quick to place her hand over her mouth.

"Try not to scream," she whispered.

She nodded and placed a hand over her mouth.

He walked around the cottage for a while, there were no signs of them in the cottage. He was getting furious.

"It is better you come out yourselves and give me the baby or I fish you out myself, and if I do that, it will not be a nice thing if I did something bad to you both."

Nyx was shocked, he even knew they were two!

"You leave me no choice than to sniff you out," he grinned evily.

Nyx was terrified, if he sniffed, he’d follow their scent and fish them out.

"We have nowhere else to run to," she shook her head.

"Calm down, nothing will happen, just hope," Nyx tried to pacify her but she was equally terrified herself.

He sniffed around for a probable scent of them. For minutes, he couldn’t trace their scent because of other oils that was distracting his sniffing.

"Why are there so much oils here?" He smashed a bottle on the floor in rage.

He continue his sniffing and picked up a scent. His eyes widened with expectations. He traced the scent till he got to a small enclosure.

"Aha! I have found you now," he grinned.

They both raised their heads, he was towering above them, an evil grin plastered on his face.

His eyes landed on Archi, "I see, this is the little pup that causes me to unrest at night. Well, well, I am going to end that today," he said, anger flashing in his eyes.

Nyx broke down in tears, "Please sir, do not do this to me, he is the only family I have left, my child, please."

He looked at her with disinterested eyes, "I do not care, just hand him over or I take him by force!"

"Sir, please do not harm him, just let us go and we will leave this place... Just please do not kill him."

"I should not kill him and let him bother me at night? No way, I am finishing him off."

Nyx cried, "No! Do not harm my son!"

He was getting irked, "Hand him over now or else I will take him by force," he warned, his hands stretched out to receive the child.

She held him more protectively to her chest, "No, do not harm him, please, what has he done?"

"Like I said earlier, he troubles me, and I do not want it anymore, just hand him over!"

"Just tell me how to stop doing this, how will he stop being a trouble to you?"

"There is nothing to do about it, just give him to me!" He yelled.

She shook her head, still holding him.

"If you do not hand him over, I will have to kill you instead!"

Nyx looked at him with teary eyes, "Kill me instead."
