The Alpha's Stripper Mate: Sold To Be His.
Chapter 37
CHAPTER 37: 37
XAVIER
Nylah insisted that she was fine and could move around by herself, but I wasn’t convinced that much.
I had heard about the bully she’s faced in the hands of the females in my pack, and I decided not to sit back anymore.
I knew that she had been bullied right from the day she walked into the pack house and even before my eyes during the bonfire night.
Although I ignored it, I didn’t realize how angry it made me feel until I saw her hurt and the anger accumulated.
"What’s the update on the company?" I asked Brian when I got back to my study.
Nylah insisted that I let her go on her walk alone and I didn’t realize a "no" from her could make me feel jobless to the point that I remembered one of my competitors and rivals in business.
Zayn. He recently began to make a fuss about how my services were expensive because he lost his customers to me due to poor service.
"Same old. Zayn is using his influence on the media to talk about your company." Brian informed me, and I nodded. Just as I expected.
Zayn had a few connections in the media, and he used it as a weapon now, but he was fighting a lost war.
The highest he can do is to hide behind the screen and talk about the prices of my services and the rate at which I open new branches in the city.
"As expected." I voiced, and Brian rolled his eyes at my confidence.
"Zayn is just one of the people who wants you down. You should do something about the news he is spreading before he begins to make up ugly stories to feed the press." Brian advised.
"He doesn’t have the balls to cook up stories about me. I will break him and his striving business." I replied.
I was always ahead of my rivals in the game, and they didn’t notice until it was too late. Zayn was a dirty boy who played street for a long time before opening up his clubhouse.
He did a lot of unthinkable things while he played street and paid a lot of people to help him cover it up. He must’ve thought that he hid his past life well, but he’s going to die from shock when I expose it to the same media he’s running to now for help.
This time, there would be no getting back up for him.
"If you say so," Brian replied with a shrug.
"Wait, why are you here? I thought you went to see Nylah. Or did she refuse to see you?" Brian asked, stifling laughter.
I knew he wasn’t in support of my choices. I left Ivy because of my feelings for Nylah, but I did not need to explain to him why I made certain choices.
"It’s none of your business, Brian," I replied with a scowl on my face.
"Just saying." Brian laughed. "But it would be humiliating for her to have refused to see you."
"And who said she refused to see me? What if I gave her some time to rest?" Brian squinted at my words.
"It means you have changed, and you’ve never acted this way towards ladies. Not since the death of..."
"Enough!" I cut him off. The name he was about to call was the last thing I wanted to hear.
"I’m sorry." He apologized, but I was not interested in having any conversations with him anymore.
I excused myself and went in search of Nylah. She went for a stroll and demanded that she do it alone without any of my guards following her. And I know I promised to leave her to it but I couldn’t stop thinking about her so I went in search of her.
I had a lot of scars and a lot of things I regretted, but I didn’t want them to be mentioned. Not now or never. As much as I was the Alpha and a lot of things were within my control, some weren’t, and it hurt me every time.
Brian might be my friend and Beta, but he didn’t know this much about me. I’d taken the blame for a lot of things in the past, and I was bleeding inside.
I walked through the pack, its members greeted me, some smiled and some waved. The little kids blushed when they saw me walk past and I should have been happy about that but a deep cloud of sadness and regret was in my mind.
Thankfully, it didn’t stay for long. As soon as I saw Nylah, I had now perceived her scent, I felt a lot better, and my eagerness to see her increased.
I stopped when I saw her enjoying the view from the abandoned rocky area. Maybe it was her presence, or I hadn’t realized it before, but the place looked especially beautiful. I didn’t know I had such a beautiful spot in my pack house.
Just as I stood from a distance, watching her enjoying the view and enjoying it myself, I heard some giggles around the corner close to her, and I shifted my gaze to see some females.
They revealed themselves, and I remembered that they were the ones who humiliated her at the bonfire night and the ones Brian was referring to when he said she was being bullied by the pack members.
I was meant to protect them, but as soon as I remembered what they had been doing to Nylah, my teeth gnashed with anger. The sudden urge to go save Nylah rose within me.
They were the same ladies who had always bullied Nylah, and they were about to do it again, but Alikah, my wolf, growled.
The girls already walked towards Nylah, and they had begun to pick on her. Anger rose in my chest, and my fingers curled into tight fists.
’Not today or ever again.’ I closed the distance with my resolve in mind. I’m trying to hold myself back from not killing them at once.
