CHAPTER 50: 50

Alpha Dmitri

"What?!" Alpha Dmitri’s voice echoed through the large hall.

The warriors’ heads remained bowed.

"What do you mean you were the only ones who made it out of there?" He asked, refusing to believe the strange news.

"We had to run to inform you. All the warriors who fought head-on were brought down." A warrior continued.

"This is unbelievable! Xavier’s army is a bunch of weak males. They can not hold against my army of a hundred warriors, and I sent more than that! How did they bring my army down?!" Alpha Dmitri continued questioning the males who returned, finding it hard to believe that Xavier won the fight.

"We were closing in on them." The second warrior started.

"They were seriously injured and were taken into the pack house, but in less than an hour, the wounded warriors returned even more powerful and healed."

Alpha Dmitri stood to his feet and began pacing around. If this was the case, then he was up for a bigger problem.

The plan was to close down Xavier’s pack and keep him hostage in his cell, but now, all that plan was scattered, and they were onto something more serious.

"There has to be an explanation for this. Something more reasonable..." He muttered as he paced around the hall.

The warriors looked helplessly at him. They didn’t have the answers he was seeking. They, too, were shocked at how Xavier won the fight. They didn’t prepare for a tough war because they already knew how little Xavier’s army was. So, the turnout of events was a shocker to everyone.

"This is not right." Alpha Dmitri stormed out of the hall.

If Xavier’s pack truly wields this strange strength, the warriors that survived claim, and then it will be impossible to defeat him, and his pack will be in danger.

"Hey, Dad," Ivy called when she saw her father’s figure pacing the living room. The Alpha didn’t want to show his fear and worry in front of the warriors and guards, so he came inside to think deeply about things.

"Ivy." Alpha Dmitri replied, acknowledging her.

"How did the war go? Are the Warriors back yet? They’re supposed to be. This is the longest they’ve stayed out." Ivy remarked, her brows creased with suspicion.

"Ivy, Uhmm, the thing is. The Warriors are back -" Alpha Dmitri barely finished when Ivy cut him off.

"Good! So where is Alpha Xavier? Do you have him locked up in the cage like I requested?" She asked with a pleasant smile.

"Listen, Ivy, only two warriors returned from the war. The others were killed on the battlefield." Dmitri let off the bomb.

Ivy stared at her father speechless for some minutes, his mouth sat open, and her face was expressionless. Jusy, bland.

"Is this a joke?" She finally found her voice.

"No, it. Is. Not. All my men are gone." He replied, and that was when an expression crept up her face or maybe more than one expression.

"What? How? Did he get help from other packs?" Ivy asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She was clearly shaken.

"I have no idea of a pack he can seek help from. And I can’t help but ask how he managed to pull off such strength. This is a big problem." Alpha Dmitri replied with worry etched on his face.

"Well, I don’t care." Ivy suddenly retorted. Swinging her hand in the air with a nonchalant facial expression.

"All I want is Xavier, and I must have him. You have to make it happen. I don’t care how or what you have to go through to make that a reality for your precious daughter." Ivy stated rather bluntly.

"Ehem... of course, darling. I will provide whatever you need. I promised your mother. Xavier found new help, and I’m going to find out what it is, and when I do, I will cripple his wings and cut him out of the help." Alpha Dmitri said with a mischievous smile, slowly grabbing his daughter’s jaw in his palm.

"And then he will come crawling to my precious daughter. Begging to be accepted by you." Ivy sure liked the sound of this because she giggled at her father’s words. Both of them did.

Ivy went back upstairs, but Alpha Dmitri was left with the hard work of finding out what must have caused Xavier’s men to suddenly become super wolves in less than an hour.

Alpha Dmitri sent for his Beta, Damien Heist, and after a few minutes of waiting, Damien stood before Alpha Dmitri.

"You sent for me," Damien spoke first, announcing his presence.

"I’m sure you already heard what happened with Xavier from the warriors who returned." Dmitri started, not hiding the worry on his face.

Damien was his advisor and one of the trusted persons he could disclose anything.

"I did. I was surprised as well." Damien admitted that his calmness both in voice and action was the highlight of the conversation.

"How could Xavier, that little Alpha win a fight over me? My men?!" Alpha Dmitri asked, rage churning within him.

"There’s something else to it, but for now, we need to stay down. As calm as possible so we don’t attract his wrath. Since we don’t know the source of his powers yet, we shouldn’t provoke it." Damien replied. And it made a lot of sense.

Alpha Dmitri cupped his face with his palm and let out a sigh.

"We can send a spy to his pack, but we also have to be very careful about it because it can spark rage towards us and lead to an unprepared war. The spy will get us info on what’s going on on the inside." Damien finished, and Alpha Dmitri nodded his head frantically.

He didn’t have much of a choice but to take Damien’s advice.

The man he wanted to bring down--he had him at the tip of his fingers--suddenly became so powerful.

"By the way, the warriors stated like Xavier’s warriors were like metal after the break they had for their injuries. They came out more powerful, and their blows bounced off the warriors’ skins like it was metal." Damien informed.

The information got Dmitri even more worried, but he had to remain calm for the sake of his pack.
