CHAPTER 74: 74

NYLAH

I told Sofia about my encounter with the old man, and she was sceptical and in awe.

"What did the Alpha do?" She asked after I narrated everything to her.

"He was pissed but he fought so hard to hide it, and it was so cute." I giggled as the memory of that hot night came rushing back.

She shook her head in false pity with a smile across her face.

"Well, let’s be grateful that things didn’t escalate, and he didn’t hurt you." She said as she continued to pick out the flowers that were in full bloom.

"What did you say these ones do again?" I asked, referring to the flowers she picked with care.

"They can cause hallucinations and false visions. Back then, some wolves took it to be able to tell the future. They were convinced it told what the future would be but after a lot of failed prophecies, it was discovered that the plant could give its host the future the host wanted to see like a vision but it is false." She explained.

"So that means it can read minds and make the host tell everyone his or her mind after taking it interpreting it as a prophecy?" I asked to clarify, and she nodded.

"Wow." I picked up one of the flowers and inhaled it, but she cut me off.

"I wouldn’t want to do that if I were you." She called out, moving on to pick on other flowers.

"Why?" I asked.

"It’s a strong flower. It can cause hallucinations just by inhaling it." She informed me.

"Oh," I placed it back into the basket where a lot of the other flowers sat.

"Why did you plant it when it causes hallucinations and false prophecies?" I asked my mouth, pouted inquisitively.

"It can detect liars from real seers and that old man..." her tone reduced as she talked about him.

I leaned in close.

"Word has it that he told the Alpha something, and it was as he said." A smile tucked at the side of her lips.

"Well, this would help us determine if he is a true seer or if he is just here to corner the Alpha and deceive all of us." I nodded knowingly like a light bulb had been turned on in my mind.

"That’s smart!" I remarked excitedly, but she just smirked and took the basket inside the hospital and into the lab where she brought out a dehydrator, placed the flowers inside, and turned it on.

"We just need to wait a couple of hours for the flowers to dry up. A pinch of this into his food or drink will get him talking." She said,

"Uhmm, I get you, but how does this work? How do we know when to use it, and how do we know that he is lying?" I asked, trying to wrap my head around it.

"We have to wait for him to foresee things. It can be an event or an intervention. Then we feed him this and ask him the exact same questions to see if his answers remain the same." Sofia replied, and I nodded thoughtfully.

That made a lot of sense, and it was a smart move, too.

I agreed to it, and we left the hospital to tend to our personal activities. I had connected with Arianna through the texting app, and we both were at it for hours. I would spend my hours texting her and catching up on a lot of things I missed about the outside world.

I learnt that my abusive ex was looking for me. He had visited her once, and she also heard from people that he visited the club surroundings to see if I would pass by, but when he was unsuccessful, he came to her house to ask about me

She said he looked like he had changed. He wore a normal t-shirt and plain trousers. No thug behaviour, just a changed man who wanted to get his woman back, but one thing was wrong.

I was no longer his woman.

I belonged to another. Even though I didn’t say it aloud, I knew that it could never be another man’s woman. Not after how Xavier took me in the most depraved way possible. I was ruined by him. It was over.

Plus, I was his by right. He bought me, so I served him in the real sense.

"If you see him next time, tell him that I am not alive. You don’t think I am. I have been taken far away." I instructed Arianna, and she assured me that she got it.

If Xavier hears of this, especially after I had told him my story with my ex, he would destroy him.

I didn’t want more blood spilled, I just wanted to focus on my new life in my new environment.

After a lot of hours on the phone with Arianna, I stepped out of my room to get something to eat from the pack’s kitchen and while I was there, waiting on the naan bread the chef was making, Sofia met me there and soon, the old man also walked up to us.

He had on a change of clothes that actually looked better on him. It wasn’t as tacky as the previous clothes he had on when he was brought into his pack, and he looked neat.

I was certain that he had a bath recently, and he packed his long white hair into a neat little bun at the top middle of his head.

"Hello ladies, you’re here for dinner?" He asked us the obvious, and we just nodded.

"Are you as well?" I asked, and he nodded with a smile.

"Yes I am. You both are powerful together." He blurted, deviating from the original topic.

Sofia and I didn’t say anything to counter him. We just exchanged looks with arched brows.

"You two will do something very important and powerful, and one of you might have to give your life at the end of it all. I don’t know who that will be. It will be decided once the time is right." He stated.

His words were sparking fear and uncertainty in our minds, so we just grabbed our plates as soon as our meals were ready and left the kitchen. His words still hung in our chest. Causing us unrest.
