CHAPTER 82: 82

NYLAH

"Sup old man?" Sofia asked as she picked up a spoon that sat opposite the man on the counter.

He held a frown that could crunch everything close to him. Including her, and he had no chills at all, and that was fair enough.

"Didn’t the goddess tell you that you would meet us here? And you still came to the kitchen...’ Sofia teased.

I got her teasing. If he didn’t like what she was doing to him then the goddess must have seen that it was going to happen and told him beforehand not to show up at the kitchen when he did but because it was all a lie and there is no goddess, he wouldn’t have known that we would be at the kitchen the same time as him.

"Come on... cut it out, Sofi." I beckoned, and she snickered at the man who was stiff. With his frown, boldly plastered on his face.

He sure didn’t like to be looked down on or overlooked. He looked like he was turning red.

"Come on, that was not cool." I muttered as she approached me, but she snickered and grabbed her meal before walking out of the kitchen.

I get that she was pissed at the old man. I was, too, but this wasn’t the way to do things.

"He holds a position in the pack. Don’t forget that, and you did that where a lot of eye witnesses were. There is no telling what his reaction will be, and whatever it is, it would not be good for you, so let us try to do things that are reasonable." I warned while speaking playfully, and she nodded knowingly, throwing and chewing french fries.

We had our food in her room while we discussed how to carry out my plan concerning seeing the healer. And the more we talked about it, the further it felt impossible to achieve.

I went up to Xavier’s room at night, and he didn’t look happy to see me. Instead, he looked distracted.

"What’s wrong?" I had to ask when I could no longer ignore him.

He shrugged and shifted his gaze back to the magazine he was going through.

"Did something happen at work?" I asked again, but he ignored my question, his gaze pinned on the magazine.

He brought the cup on the table to his lips and took a sip from it, and set it back down on the table.

I asked myself mentally what was wrong.

’Maybe he is stressed from work today.’ I concluded and strutted to where he sat, trying to keep a seductive pose.

I reached for his shoulder and tried to massage him, but he pulled away slightly.

If he had sat there and pretended not to like it, it would have been better than pulling away from a massage I offered. I was stunned, and I looked at him like I could see the ghost who had taken the place of the Alpha Xavier I knew.

"Okay, something is definitely wrong." I walked out from behind him, fell into a sofa opposite him with my ass and folded my arms across my chest. My gaze pinned on him.

Xavier and I had gone past that stage where he would ignore me and make me beg before he gave me whatever it was I wanted. We had bonded to an extent, and he wasn’t given off that master vibes he used to give off at first, so I was genuinely confused by what was going on.

"Did I do something...?" I became more creative with my questions as I searched his face for answers.

He finally looked up at me, but his face was stiff, and there was no sign of a smile on it.

"You disrespected me, Nylah." He mouthed. His words shook me to my bones.

What does he mean by that? Ever since I came to the pack. Well, maybe not ever since then, but since I got to know the other side of Xavier, I had tried to respect him as much as I could, and he kept proving himself to me.

After I found out about what he did for Arianna, my respect for him grew, and I wondered what I had done to disrespect the man I had a high regard for more than anyone in my life.

"You and your friend, Sofia disrespected the man I made advisor of the pack and, in turn, disrespected me." He stated plainly, and my mouth fell open.

I was stunned. Couldn’t speak for a solid two minutes like I was dumb.

"What? Who told you that?" I asked with a squint on my face, but he broke his gaze and shifted it back to the damn magazine.

"The advisor told me himself that you two made fun of him when he went to get food for himself in the kitchen." He answered.

I swallowed hard, pushing back the words that were about to fall off my mouth.

I was about to say it wasn’t me but Sofia who made fun of him and went ahead to tease him and even rave about him calling me out when all I did was correct Sofia but I swallowed my words and concluded that it wasn’t worth it.

"You have to make a public apology to him. Both of you." The Alpha went further to say, and I didn’t know when I shouted.

"What?!"

He ignored me.

"Tomorrow, you both will apologise publicly while all the wolves are awake." He concluded, and I felt the sudden urge to break something. Throw something down and scatter everywhere, just like my brain was splitting into two. Instead, I stormed out of the Alpha’s chambers back to Sofia’s room.

She was surprised to see me and she sat up from the bed immediately.

"What’s wrong?" She asked when I angrily slumped onto the bed.

"The Alpha is angry. He said that we disrespected the old man today and we are going to apologise to him for it tomorrow when all the wolves are awake." I explained. Though I wasn’t as detailed as I should have been because of my anger but Sofia understood me well, and she was pissed by the news.
