The Amazing Strike Back: Mommy Wants To Revenge!
Chapter 38: When You Wake Up We’ll Be at Daddy’s House
CHAPTER 38: CHAPTER 38: WHEN YOU WAKE UP WE’LL BE AT DADDY’S HOUSE
Anna suddenly stared intensely at Conrad Sterling through the car’s rearview mirror. This little woman’s eyes were very beautiful. The ends of her eyes tilted up, four years ago they were clearly innocent, but now they seemed to hold a multitude of charms.
"When I was in elementary school, there was a boy in my class who often bullied me. Every day he would block me at the school gate so I couldn’t get in and made me late, and he would put frogs and bugs in my desk to scare me."
"Finally, at the graduation ceremony, that boy suddenly confessed to me, saying he did those things to get my attention because he liked me. Do you know... what happened in the end?"
Conrad Sterling: "..."
This little woman’s words always jumped all over the place, Conrad Sterling couldn’t be bothered to guess what she wanted to express.
"Of course, I rejected him! Not only that, I took advantage of the secluded and remote place he picked for his confession to give him a good beating. He probably didn’t realize how disgusting he was. The point of this example is to say that this low-emotional-intelligence routine of getting a girl’s attention in an elementary school style, I hope someone as grown-up as President Sterling won’t follow it."
Conrad Sterling: "You want to get kicked out of the car?"
"Forget it, I’m sleepy, I won’t say more."
Anna stopped talking, lowered her head, and patted the clearly sleepy Pop in her arms, the little guy had yawned five or six times since they got in the car.
"Be good, take a nap, and when you wake up we’ll be at daddy’s house."
The phrase ’daddy’s house’ rolled off Anna’s tongue naturally.
Conrad Sterling couldn’t help but look at her through the rearview mirror again. Anna seemed oblivious to his gaze as she took out Pop’s usual pacifier from her bag and handed it to the child, humming a soft but unknown lullaby.
When they left the sanatorium, it was almost dark. Accompanied by the woman’s gentle and sweet voice, the atmosphere in the car gradually became peaceful and serene.
Conrad Sterling saw through the rearview mirror that after Anna put Pop to sleep, she kept turning her head to look out the window, leaving him with an emotionless profile amidst the neon lights.
For some reason, Conrad Sterling suddenly felt very irritable.
Previously, this woman always tried every means to cause trouble for him, and he disliked her. Now, when they were so close, and Anna was paying attention to something else, he still felt annoyed.
Conrad Sterling habitually reached for the pack of cigarettes on the car, but before he could take one out, he withdrew his hand and focused on driving.
Meanwhile, on the other side—
Henry Willow was still stuck in the sanatorium, having a staring contest with a security team leader.
"I mean, the conditions here for President Sterling’s clients are so good, they shouldn’t treat me too badly either. At least give me a sofa!" Henry Willow sat obediently on the cold bench in the little black room but still felt uncomfortable.
"Young Master Willow, you can call your family to send cash over."
"No need, how about you just detain me here to work off the debt? Or you want me to pay off the debt with physical labor, that’s fine too!" Henry Willow half-jokingly said.
He did plan to stay here for a few days, as the cost of his big mouth, just to calm Young Master Sterling’s anger.
Also, Conrad Sterling knew him well, knowing Henry Willow would never call his family.
Because the Willow Family... no one would come over just for him.
This was like both of them just stabbing into each other’s soft spots, tit for tat.
Henry Willow was ready to put several cold benches together and make do for the night.
But who knew at this moment, the security team leader watching him received a call, and his face turned serious: "Young Master Willow, get up quickly!"
"What’s up? Am I being released?"
"No, it’s... Miss Grant has arrived."
"What?"
Henry Willow was shocked, almost falling off the bench.
"Who did you say? Sarah Grant? How could she come here?"
"Miss Grant is here to ransom you with money."
"No, no, don’t take her money, and don’t let her know I’m here!"
Henry Willow now reacted to Sarah Grant’s name like seeing a ghost.
Everyone in Aethelgard knows that the eldest lady of the Grant Family is indeed as troublesome as a ghost.
The Grant Family is one of the four major families, and Sarah Grant’s elder brother also holds considerable power. This eldest lady is not someone ordinary people in Aethelgard can provoke.
The staff at the sanatorium were also in a dilemma, having heard of Miss Grant’s ferocity. Now that she’s brought people here to make a scene, no one dared to face her directly in President Sterling’s absence.
So they hoped to let Henry Willow go out and advise her, since everyone knew Miss Grant liked Young Master Willow, and recently they had a passionate relationship.
"Isn’t your sanatorium known for first-class security? Quickly stop her, you absolutely can’t let her in. I’ve already sold myself to you, if something goes wrong, how will you explain it?"
Security: "..."
"Don’t tell her I’m here, she’ll leave naturally when she can’t find me."
Shortly after Henry Willow said this, he suddenly heard Sarah Grant’s voice outside.
"Henry Willow! Are you here?" The girl’s voice came through the loudspeaker, urgent and sharp, piercing the eardrums, "I’m here to save you, if you can hear me, make a sound!"
"Idiot," Henry Willow couldn’t help but mutter, "even if I made a sound, how would you hear it?"
That girl’s mind was empty, definitely wouldn’t be able to find him.
Sarah Grant was simple-minded, but she couldn’t withstand Conrad Sterling secretly letting things slide.
Ten minutes later, the little black room where Henry Willow was located, usually for security employees’ break, was kicked open from the outside.
A girl in a little dress ran in on high heels, and as soon as she saw Henry Willow, she slammed into his arms.
"Henry Willow, are you okay? They’re keeping you in a place like this, aren’t you afraid? Did anyone bully you?"
"I’m not like you, afraid of the dark! No one bullied me, but I’m about to get internal injuries from you crashing into me." Henry Willow pushed Sarah Grant away, rubbed his chest where it hurt from the collision, and said.
Hearing this, Sarah Grant glanced at his chest, her expression slightly apologetic.
The girl extended her hand, but the next second, she slapped Henry Willow hard across the face.
Slap... The sound was so loud that the security team at the door, who was about to come in, stopped in their tracks.
Then, as if anticipating the storm before the calm, they all pretended not to see Young Master Willow’s plea for help, and quietly slipped away.
Henry Willow: "..."
"I heard when I arrived, you were detained and fined for picking rare roses in the park. What were you doing picking flowers? Tell me clearly, did you give them to some woman?"
This woman’s change of face was faster than turning the pages of a book.
Henry Willow was a bit bewildered by the loud slap, and his tone was not good: "Yes, I gave them to an old lady in the sanatorium to spread warmth. Her grace is undiminished by age, a hundred times more beautiful than you are."
Sarah Grant really fell for it, immediately putting her hands on her hips and demanding, "Which old lady? I don’t believe someone in their seventies can be more beautiful than me, take me to compare with her."
