The Amazing Strike Back: Mommy Wants To Revenge!
Chapter 55: I Think You’re the One Enjoying This More
CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55: I THINK YOU’RE THE ONE ENJOYING THIS MORE
Anna Thornton bought a balloon on the street and didn’t enter the jewelry store, directly turning back.
"Pop, Mommy’s afraid the balloon will fly away, should I tie it for you?"
"Okay."
Anna Thornton said, leaning closer to the child, naturally getting closer to Conrad Sterling, who was holding Pop.
The minty fragrance of the shampoo lingered at Conrad Sterling’s nose, and a few rebellious strands of hair seemed to intentionally brush against him in the wind, making him turn his face away uncomfortably.
When Conrad Sterling turned back, he saw a string from his chest being raised high, with a gray rabbit balloon floating above his head.
It turned out that Anna Thornton had tied the balloon string to his suit button.
"Anna Thornton, take it down!" Conrad Sterling warned her.
"Pop doesn’t have any buttons, so I borrowed yours for a quick tie."
"Then tie it to yourself!"
"Don’t take it down, look how happy Pop is."
Hearing this, Conrad Sterling turned his head to look at the little one, who was raising his arms high to grab the rabbit tail above Conrad Sterling’s head.
Conrad Sterling then looked at Anna Thornton, who was covering her mouth, sneaking a laugh: "I think you’re the one who’s more happy."
No way, mainly because President Sterling usually has an icy demeanor, keeping strangers at arm’s length. But now, his elegant and refined suit was adorned with a starkly contrasting rabbit balloon, forming such an amusing picture.
Anna Thornton tried her best not to laugh: "Conrad, I think with this little rabbit, you look much cuter. Why not try to shift to a loving dad image? Being the aloof male god all the time is kind of boring, isn’t it?"
Conrad Sterling couldn’t be bothered with her, directly reaching to pull down the balloon string.
"Hey, be gentle! Don’t let the balloon fly away, Pop will be sad... Forget it, let me help you."
As Anna Thornton approached Conrad Sterling, the man already hastened to violently dismantle, even pulling off one of his suit buttons.
Earlier he wasn’t too impatient, but now Conrad Sterling suddenly changed his face, not allowing Anna Thornton to approach.
Realizing something, Anna Thornton turned her head, indeed seeing Marilyn Ford walking toward them.
"Conrad, I came to the hospital for a check-up today, didn’t expect to meet you here." Marilyn Ford looked at Conrad Sterling, then at Anna Thornton beside him, corrected herself, "Meet both of you."
Seeing Marilyn Ford appear here, Anna Thornton showed no unusual expression, even taking the initiative to greet her: "Miss Ford, are you alone?"
"My agent is in the car."
"Oh." Anna Thornton nodded toward Marilyn Ford, raising her eyes to find Conrad Sterling looking at her, immediately glaring back, "Why are you looking at me? You think I deliberately leaked the news to bring them here again? She said it herself, it’s a check-up!"
Crestlight Hospital under Sterling Group is considered one of the top private medical institutions in the country currently.
Many celebrities within the circle choose here for regular check-ups due to good service and better confidentiality.
Anna Thornton curled her lips in a teasing manner: "Stars like Miss Ford at the award-winning level surely clear the area for a check-up, right? We won’t disturb, let’s go first."
She said, preparing to pull Conrad Sterling to leave together.
Seeing Anna Thornton extend her hand, Marilyn Ford frowned slightly and called out to Conrad Sterling: "Conrad, can we talk?"
Upon hearing these words, the man halted his steps.
Since meeting, he hadn’t spoken to Marilyn Ford yet.
Although it was Marilyn Ford who started the argument before, men are indeed more cool-headed than women.
She took the initiative to call him as soon as they met, yet Conrad Sterling didn’t respond.
Now, still about to leave with Anna Thornton, Marilyn Ford felt she had lost face, her gaze towards Conrad Sterling slightly resentful.
"You go home first."
This sentence was directed at Anna Thornton by Conrad Sterling.
He handed Pop over to Anna Thornton, along with the balloon and car keys.
Anna Thornton: "I don’t have a domestic driver’s license!"
"Find someone with a license to drive."
"..."
Gosh! This man really isn’t afraid she would find someone to sell his car!
"Do I need to wait for you to come back for dinner together?"
Anna Thornton twirled the Maybach car key in her hand, asked this question, and under Conrad Sterling’s reproachful gaze, stuck out her tongue.
He himself was the first to say to let Anna Thornton go home, exposing the fact that they lived together.
Marilyn Ford surely picked up on it, though she kept a stiff face without showing it.
Anna Thornton added this line just to see, to what extent Miss Ford could keep a straight face?
After discerning, Anna Thornton, like a satisfied sly fox, holding her little treasure, carrying the little one’s rabbit balloon, turned around heading to the parking lot.
Pop lay on Mommy’s shoulder, but kept turning his head to watch Daddy standing still, not following them.
...
Conrad Sterling picked a café opposite the hospital for a conversation with Marilyn Ford.
Coincidentally, it was the same café where Anna Thornton had a conversation with Marilyn Ford previously.
The coffee arrived, yet neither took the initiative to speak.
Marilyn Ford was waiting for Conrad Sterling’s explanation, as for Conrad Sterling... for some reason, he was slow to explain.
No one expected, the first to break the silence was Anna Thornton, who returned again.
Upon seeing the woman approaching the café, Marilyn Ford couldn’t conceal her emotions, furrowed her brow tightly: "Why did you follow along?"
"Sorry Miss Ford, I suddenly remembered, before your talk, there’s something I must tell Conrad."
Anna Thornton pretended not to notice Marilyn Ford’s dissatisfaction towards her, smiled upon entering, then directly spoke to Conrad Sterling: "Come out for a moment."
Conrad Sterling ignored her: "I told you to go back first."
"I will go back, Pop is waiting outside, I just need to say one thing and then leave."
Seeing the man’s lack of response, Anna Thornton was about to reach out to pull him.
In front of Marilyn Ford, Conrad Sterling shook off her hand: "Anna Thornton, don’t push your luck!"
"Just one statement..."
"Go back!"
Conrad Sterling’s direct rejection of Anna Thornton finally relieved some of Marilyn Ford’s pent-up emotion.
Being in the café, pulling and tugging didn’t look good.
Marilyn Ford truly couldn’t stand Anna Thornton’s stubbornly clingy behavior.
A woman wholeheartedly throwing herself before a man, disregarding her own dignity, how could she have anyone’s respect?
Honestly, seeing Conrad Sterling holding a child with Anna Thornton together at the hospital entrance earlier, Marilyn Ford indeed had concerns.
But now she sees clearly, actually Conrad Sterling has no hidden disdain towards Anna Thornton.
Righteous and stern with her in front of so many people is just the same as when Conrad Sterling reprimands subordinates at the company, leaving no room for sentiment, because the relationship between both is imbalanced.
In contrast, Conrad Sterling has never raised his voice at Marilyn Ford, always gentlemanly before her.
When a man has a woman in his heart, he cares about her feelings.
Looks like her agent was overthinking.
