The Amazing Strike Back: Mommy Wants To Revenge!
Chapter 6: President Sterling, Don’t You Remember Me?
CHAPTER 6: CHAPTER 6: PRESIDENT STERLING, DON’T YOU REMEMBER ME?
Hearing this, the man holding the champagne turned around.
When his gaze landed on Anna Thornton, Conrad Sterling had no special reaction.
But upon closer look, there seemed to be some hidden undercurrents flashing in those eternally unchanged, deep-as-ocean eyes.
Too fast, even though Anna Thornton had been closely watching him, she still couldn’t quite capture whether her appearance was a surprise to him.
Would the girl from those spring nights years ago be confused by President Sterling’s vast experience with women over these years?
"You are... Anna Thornton?"
The person who spoke wasn’t Conrad Sterling, but Marilyn Ford standing beside him, who had just turned around together with this man: "Are you the Revenge Goddess Anni? Haven’t we met at The Lumina Film Festival before?"
"What Revenge Goddess are you talking about?"
Conrad Sterling was briefly dazed and turned his gaze toward Marilyn Ford.
In that instant, the sharpness in the man’s eyes hadn’t completely receded, and his gaze seemed to contain hooks which made Marilyn’s heart skip a beat, rendering her speechless.
It was Anna who answered for her, "She’s referring to the role I played in the film."
"Yes!" Marilyn chimed in, "This year’s Best Drama Film ’Revenge,’ Anni is a glamorous and sexy Revenge Goddess in the protagonist’s gang, and the only Asian in the film. Miss Thornton’s acting was exemplary. I watched that film three times, and each time you effortlessly stirred my emotions."
"Thank you for the compliment!" Anna Thornton elegantly picked up the champagne and clinked glasses with Marilyn.
When she raised the glass in front of Conrad Sterling, he didn’t give her any response.
But it didn’t matter. From his sensitive reaction to the word ’Revenge’ earlier, Anna Thornton had already determined that he certainly remembered her.
"Miss Thornton, while watching the film, I felt as if you had merged with the character, it seemed like you were born with the mission of revenge. For a newcomer to achieve such seasoned acting skills is truly remarkable!"
"Miss Ford, you’re this year’s Grand Slam Best Actress, how could I dare to accept praise in front of you? Speaking of acting, I still have much room for improvement, I can only say I was lucky that this role matched me well."
"Oh?"
"Like Anni, I also had a painful experience of being played by a jerk."
Speaking of this, Anna Thornton glanced seemingly unintentionally at Conrad Sterling in front of her: "After all, not every woman is as fortunate as Miss Ford to meet an outstanding man like President Sterling!"
Upon hearing this, Marilyn Ford smiled without saying a word.
Conrad Sterling’s excellence no longer needed others’ compliments. He had been ranked as the most desirable man for women to marry nationwide for several years in a row.
Having developed in Aethelgard for just four years, he managed to expand a business empire amidst the four great families, unparalleled in scale. The technology software and advanced medical research he headed had already reached global monopolization.
Most importantly, he was only twenty-seven, with boundless prospects.
There were predictions that within five years, his achievements would surpass the so-called leader of the four great families in Aethelgard, the Ford Family, known as ’landlords,’ and within ten years, his wealth would exceed the combined total of the four families.
This was considered a rather conservative estimate!
Moreover, Conrad Sterling not only had talent and strength, his looks didn’t lose out to any male star or model present today. Amidst a sea of beauties, he stood out as the center of attention with an aura of ambition and authority that could intimidate anyone.
As for why such an exemplary male idol, Marilyn Ford was reluctant to agree to be his girlfriend?
That’s because Miss Ford was raised in an environment of admiration from many stars and was adept at handling men.
Women must hold themselves in high esteem to be seen as treasures, letting others see but not attain.
Meanwhile, Marilyn Ford also relished in the envious and jealous glances shot by girls like Anna Thornton, enjoying the fact that a man sought after by the four great families was her admirer.
"However, President Sterling, do you really not remember me?"
While praising Marilyn Ford, Anna Thornton suddenly shifted the topic to Conrad Sterling.
"Yes, Young Master Sterling, Miss Thornton told me outside that you knew each other before. Why aren’t you catching up?" Henry Willow, who had been pretending to be discreet beside them, finally spoke up.
"You know her?" Marilyn Ford asked him too.
Pushed to the center of the topic by three people simultaneously, Conrad Sterling, who was usually a man of few words, was forced to look at Anna Thornton and indifferently said, "Don’t know."
"Oh?"
Henry Willow glanced between Conrad Sterling and Anna Thornton with a look of anticipation for drama.
"Have you truly forgotten me? It’s quite heartbreaking." Anna Thornton’s tone seemed filled with sadness and disappointment, "President Sterling, why don’t you think again, Veridia, the Thornton Family..."
"Conrad, you mentioned before that prior to coming to Aethelgard, most of the company’s business was in Veridia." Marilyn Ford reminded him, also growing curious about the inexplicable sadness in Anna’s earlier words.
After all, ’handsome guy’ and ’beautiful woman,’ along with ’the past,’ these three elements inevitably conjure subtle ambiguities.
No gossip or tabloid had ever exposed Conrad Sterling’s romantic relationships. It seemed this man was constantly busy expanding his professional territory and was pure as a blank slate regarding romantic matters, which Marilyn Ford found hard to believe.
Conrad Sterling is a normal man, a normal man in a high position, how is it possible he has no normal needs?
"Four years ago, I did stay in Veridia for a while, but I’ve met too many people, and there’s no need to remember each one."
The implication of Conrad Sterling was clear: Anna Thornton wasn’t even worth remembering!
Using a disparaging approach to eliminate ambiguity and prevent misunderstandings by Marilyn Ford... very well, this man was indeed as sharp-tongued as ever, just like four years ago.
