CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 74: HOW ARE THESE SCENES FILMED?

"Wow, watching a movie like this is so cool!" Anna Thornton couldn’t help but exclaim.

She put away her simple stand and tablet, brought a chair over to watch the movie with Conrad Sterling.

But since they had to accommodate President Sterling’s lying posture, the images were projected onto the ceiling.

Sitting on a chair wasn’t very convenient, so Anna pushed over the empty hospital bed nearby and lay down on it herself.

The two hospital beds were side by side, feeling as if they were lying on the same bed.

However, Anna didn’t realize anything was amiss, and Conrad didn’t say a word.

"It’s starting, it’s starting!" Anna was so focused on the big screen that she clenched her fists in excitement.

She had already seen the movie twice in the cinema.

But it was her first time watching it in a hospital, with such a novel setup, giving her a different experience.

"I appear at the twentieth minute!" Anna couldn’t help but spoil it for Conrad, "You have to pay attention to that shot, it’s super beautiful!"

"..." He had never seen a woman who loved to praise herself as much as she did.

Conrad didn’t want, when he was seriously watching the movie, a voice constantly chattering in his ear, ruining his interest.

So he shut her up in advance: "I don’t need an unprofessional commentary."

Anna was one of the actresses in this movie; she knew many stories about the making of the film, clearly very professional!

Moreover, watching a drama is all about discussing and sharing insights; it’s most interesting during the exchange. Conrad simply doesn’t know how to appreciate it.

But the movie had already started, so Anna just pouted and focused on watching, unable to continue arguing with him.

Perhaps she still managed to influence him; ever since Anna mentioned she appeared at the twentieth minute, the man unintentionally glanced at the time.

To be honest, the first twenty minutes felt quite long.

The whole film had rather dark tones, with many fragmented long shots connecting it.

The movie "Revenge" actually focuses primarily on the status of women, depicting the injustices women face as a disadvantaged group worldwide through dramatic conflicts.

It was due to the topic the director chose that Anna worked so hard to win the role.

Her character is a female college student long harassed and stalked by an ex-boyfriend, leading to a state of constant tension under the threat of a perverse, violent man, and ultimately being imprisoned for excessive self-defense.

In the women’s prison, she is drawn into a mysterious organization, meeting other protagonists after her release, and begins to weigh between fighting back for women and self-defense.

The main characters in the movie are vastly different in skin color and identity; among them, there are housewives, lawyers, students, and even successful businesswomen... What they have in common is that they all have suffered past abuses. One of the protagonists has a daughter who suffered severe violations as a young child, resulting in incurable psychological trauma. Yet, the perpetrator was sentenced to less than ten years and is due to be released before her daughter’s eighteenth birthday.

To prevent the yet-to-be-adult girl from being hurt a second time, the protagonists plan a rescue operation called ’Revenge.’

The role Anna played doesn’t have much screen time, but the movie’s rhythm breaks free from the oppressive atmosphere it had before her appearance.

Because the character Anni, portrayed by Anna, is the only one who successfully fought back during the persecution.

That’s why she was noticed and recruited by the protagonist group to become a member of the revenge action.

Anni’s portrayal is one of the film’s highlights, and because of this, Anna finally gained her own fan club.

However, this character deviated from its original design; after determining Anna would play the role, the inspiration sparked during discussions with her, and the character’s personality was adjusted to align more closely with Anna’s own, which turned out surprisingly well.

Of course, this is related to the actor’s excellent performance.

Finally, it was the twentieth-minute mark, and Anna appeared.

She excitedly kicked her legs a bit, fearing Conrad might miss it.

In reality, the man saw it. Anna’s first scene was set in the night; she stood under a streetlamp... her hair slightly messy, expression anxious, but with a strangely twisted smile on her lips.

The night, the lights, the chaotic background beautifully rendered the scene, combining beauty with eeriness, like a Mandora flower secretly blooming in the night.

It was breathtakingly beautiful, making people want to succumb after just one look.

The camera circled around the woman under the streetlamp, then panned out, showing her upper torso holding a knife with bloodstains all over her.

The view continued to expand until the ground was visible, where a man lay unconscious from excessive blood loss.

The sound of police sirens blared—

Anni was sentenced to one year for causing grievous injury due to excessive self-defense...

The next scene shows Anni arriving at the women’s prison.

Wearing a standard uniform, she wore her hair in a neat ponytail, her image suddenly youthful like a girl.

She no longer exhibited the previous strange or anxious expressions, as she settled into prison, a sense of ease emanated from her.

Being harassed, threatened with violence, stalked, and intimidated for two long years... she had sought help, but eventually, no attention or useful assistance was given.

She had no choice but to save herself...

Now it was finally over, and at least here she was safe.

No more worrying about being abused by a mentally unstable jerk, no more death threats; how could she not feel relieved?

Admittedly, Anna’s screen presence was indeed strong.

Even Conrad, who doesn’t love watching movies, was compelled to receive the emotions she conveyed.

Word has it she won an award for this role, and it seems it wasn’t just bragging.

Anna, aware of her good performance, couldn’t help but glance at Conrad.

Conrad, with his notoriously bad temper, seemed like your typical male chauvinist; could he even appreciate a film advocating for women?

If he could, would he feel a bit regretful or guilty recalling what happened four years ago?

Hmm, probably not.

Anna could even anticipate how he would respond.

He’d definitely say, "Four years ago, I didn’t force you, you were the one who took the initiative!"

He’s remarkably good at painting himself in a better light!

Anna was caught in the act of playing both roles, getting mad at herself in her imagination, and wasn’t paying much attention to the movie anymore.

Until Conrad suddenly asked her, "How are scenes like that shot?"

Hearing this, Anna snapped back, realizing the screen was showing a rather seductive scene.

Anni was undressing, wearing lingerie that couldn’t be sexier, almost revealing her entire upper body.

And there was a man’s hand moving back and forth on her slender waist.

This was part of a seduction plot they had schemed in the movie, and this was the most daring it got.

Unexpectedly, the usually pretentious Conrad was quite good at hitting the key moments.
