The Apocalyptic Queen Back From Hell
Chapter 28: Overseas?
CHAPTER 28: OVERSEAS?
Fortune favors the bold, and the same thing happened to Ling Yu, who roamed the Territory in her last life after going on a mission to conquer this territory.
Since it was a mine for natural resources, she would try her best to use it to its full extent. Who knows, maybe the Royal family was regretting their decision so much that they couldn’t stay sane out of grief.
Now that all of this was claimed by her, the Royal family won’t let her off easily, but no matter what kind of scheme they come up with, this time, she wasn’t inexperienced enough to fall for their traps again.
"Yu’er, Yu’er? Are you listening to what I’m saying? Hey..."
Ling Yu’s line of thought snapped with a voice calling for her as she returned back to reality, turning her sight towards Ru Feifei with a dazed expression. After the seminar was over, both of them hurried out of the room and ran to the cafeteria like their lives depended on it.
After taking the spot first in line, both of them took a plateful of food and retreated to the corner happily, chatting and gossiping over various things and random topics.
Though Ling Yu was feeling a bit strange at the chance encounter she had with He Xun earlier. After the seminar started, He Xun gave a long lecture about the dark particle and cosmic energy research paper he recently published. She heard from Ru Feifei that various outside journals and publications also showed interest in his research papers and published them outside the Empire. Scientists from other Empires also showed interest in collaborating on their research project with him.
But after listening to Ru Feifei’s bragging for a long time, the only reaction Ling Yu showed was too unimpressed.
’Oh, so he is a clever brat who knows how to publicize, huh?’
Ru Feifei was being over the top describing his handsomeness, which was a bit too much for Ling Yu, who saw too many handsome faces in her past life and found it hard to judge whether he really was that handsome for her friend to brag so much.
"Ah, yes, I’m listening. What is it?" Ling Yu asked as she put back her thoughts in the corner, focusing on the present.
"I was asking, what are you going to do going forward? Do you have any idea how to support yourself in the future? Like any scholarship or such?"
Ru Feifei’s concern was genuine. With how things were looking, it didn’t seem like Jiang Meng would stop throwing tantrums everywhere Ling Yu went, ghosting her like a shadow and causing trouble.
In this case, going overseas to study might be a better option for Ling Yu. It can also help her pursue further study, but Ling Yu didn’t think the same.
Firstly, she wasn’t afraid of Jiang Meng causing trouble for her, because she could handle that girl who was still wet behind the ears very well. This isn’t considered a problem for her at all.
But the second reason was quite concerning. Since she was pursuing her studies, Ye Qingxue needed strong support to catch up with her training, and Ling Yu needed to personally oversee this critical period of her growth. Besides that, if she went overseas, there is no way the Royal family would let her people easily; they might find a way somehow to force her to hand over all the resources in her hand, making her penniless.
Both Song and Ye Qingxue were her own people; there is no way the Jiang people will let them off after she left. So for now, this idea was completely put off.
Once everything had settled down and they all found their own respective places, Ling Yu bowed to set off on a journey and find her real family, without exception.
Since she wanted to raise her own organisation and base the headquarters here, Ling Yu didn’t have any intention to change her mind and leave the Empire.
She already had her own set of plans she decided to follow, even if Ru Feifei was worried about her, she couldn’t understand if she told her about the future changes, could she?
"Why do I leave for overseas? I’m now an overlord in charge of a fief. I don’t have a reason to leave, Feifei. They won’t dare do anything to me in the empire; it’s the safest place for me." Ling Yu gave off a calm smile, reassuring Ru Feifei.
"Well, if you say so. If you ever need any help, you know you can come find me, right Yu’er?" Ru Feifei grabbed Ling Yu’s hands with her own as she pressed them as a sign of assurance.
"Of course, you are my only friend who didn’t turn away from me after I lost everything. I also won’t abandon you, Feifei." Ling Yu nodded her head as she replied.
Ru Feifei’s father is the Minister of Justice and Civil Service Bureau, so what she said about asking for help was plausible. However, Ru Feifei didn’t know that in three years, her father’s position would be abolished, and charged with embezzlement and injustice; her entire family was caught in a violent storm of destruction, reducing her to a person without a shelter to look to.
After the fall, Ling Yu personally investigated this case and found out that Ru Feifei’s father was wrongly accused of all these charges. She also knew how honest and upright a man he was whenever she met with him, hanging out with Ru Feifei.
Then why this injustice?
It was nothing but the Royal family’s whim, destroying a capable person’s life and dropping him to the ground without mercy, all because he didn’t quite show a favorable impression towards Jiang Meng!
Unlike the other ministers, he didn’t fawn over the Royal family’s people, as a reason for not getting promotions and a salary raise easily. Despite all that, he never backed down and honestly served his country.
