The Battle in Journey to the West
Chapter 163 - 163 160 Lu Ya Furiously Kills the Imposter
Chapter 163: Chapter 160: Lu Ya Furiously Kills the Imposter Xihe Chapter 163: Chapter 160: Lu Ya Furiously Kills the Imposter Xihe There came to the Sun Goddess Temple a strange Taoist, short in stature, with a sallow complexion, holding a gourd in his hand.
What did this gourd look like? It had an infant depicted on it, the infant’s eyes tightly shut, and the gourd seemed to be made of fine jade, indeed it was the notorious Immortal-Slaying and God-Punishing Treasured Saber.
Latecomers spoke of this saber in poetry. How could they recognize such an excellent blade?
The poem said:
First refine the True Yuan, then operate the power; in this lies a mystery pairing male and female.
Only maintaining a bit of the Innate Secret Technique, slaying demons and executing monsters, nothing compares.
Who could this be if not Daoist Lu Ya? However, why Lu Ya would suddenly appear in Yingzhou was beyond everyone’s comprehension.
Lu Ya glanced at the demon kings and said, “Dear fellow Taoists, do not blame me, I was reckless just now, not knowing that you were all in the hall, so I directly used my Divine Skills intending to burn this grand hall to ashes. This is a private affair between me and the Sun Goddess; please, everyone, just watch from the sidelines!”
Lu Ya’s voice was gloomy and hoarse, and those who heard it felt as if a corpse was scratching a coffin board with its nails, hair-raising indeed.
Lu Ya’s mana was above that of a Hunyuan, far more formidable than those Twelve Golden Immortals, his escape from being captured by Lady Sanxiao with a Primordial Golden Dou long ago proof of his fearsome prowess! After Divine Enthronement, Lu Ya had handed the Immortal-Slaying and God-Punishing Treasured Saber to Jiang Ziya, and upon Jiang’s death, it was taken back by Yuan Shi Immortal Monarch and then returned to Lu Ya. With a moment’s thought, any could understand the reason, seeing the Magical Treasure in his hand, nothing was surprising.
“It turns out Daoist Lu Ya has a private matter to settle; it’s inappropriate for us to intervene. Just follow through with it,” said Enlightenment Dao with a bow, leaving the hall with his brothers, yet still keeping an eye on the events within.
This Lu Ya was at least a master of the Second Layer of Hunyuan. Had Xihe not intervened just now, perhaps all the demon kings present would have been reduced to ash! Although it was a bit embarrassing, seeking justification from such a master was purely suicidal, and if one died, others might even call out the folly. Therefore, actions must be weighed according to power.
Enlightenment Dao whispered softly, “Isn’t Lu Ya the tenth son of Xihe? Why would he come to trouble his mother?”
Ox Demon King said, “There must be some secret to it; best not to ask. This short Taoist has a strange temper; let’s not let him hear us.”
All of Lu Ya’s brothers were shot dead by Hou Yi, and although he had escaped that fate, his disposition had become extremely grim. Ready to kill at the slightest disagreement, Ox Demon King—who had served under Laojun for some time—knew about these matters and immediately cautioned Enlightenment Dao not to speak further, lest Lu Ya overhear. Here was a master of the Second Layer of Hunyuan, carrying a world-renowned Magical Treasure; even several demon kings together could not withstand him.
Only to hear Lu Ya sneer, “It seems the reach of the Various Heavens is indeed long; they’ve let someone sneak into Fusang to impersonate my mother.”
The Sun Goddess said, “I am indeed Xihe, you unfilial son, how dare you speak to me like this! Kneel at once!”
Lu Ya, furious, said, “My mother died long ago on the Middle Ancient Battlefield; I have come out of seclusion specifically to kill you!”
The Sun Goddess sneered and said, “I would like to see what capabilities you, an unfilial son, have to kill me!”
These words ignited Lu Ya’s fury, his Three Corpses Deity boiling over with rage. Having unveiled the true face of this Sun Goddess, yet she still continued to masquerade as his mother, calling him unfilial.
“Seeking your own death!” Lu Ya shouted angrily, his long sword appearing in his hand, striding forward in two steps to attack with his sword.
“How dare you act violently in the temple, destroying Xihe’s statue?” said the Sun Goddess.
“Merely dead things, why retain them to unjustly bestow my mother’s Incense Power and Wishes upon you traitors?” Lu Ya sneered.
With a thrust of his sword like a comet falling to earth, swift as lightning, the void itself was torn open with a long slit, instantly collapsing!
The Sun Goddess slightly furrowed her brow, leaped up, pressed lightly with her fingertip in the void; the blade light slashed toward her, met her fingertip with a loud bang, scattering golden light everywhere, and with a loud rumble, the entire grand hall crumbled into dust, smoke filling the air, even the statue reduced to powder.
These two Hunyuan Golden Immortals’ magic combat was truly terrifying; just one encounter reduced the entire grand hall to dust, not leaving even a pebble-sized piece of debris, all turned into powder, scattering around, filling the entire valley of Fusang.
The people of Flower-Fruit Mountain quickly retreated, ascending to the clouds, while below, Lu Ya continued his fierce battle with the Sun Goddess.
The Sun Goddess drew a sword, this blade called the Sword of Heavenly Cloud Clusters, exceedingly fierce; yet the Divine Flaming Sword in Lu Ya’s hands was no ordinary blade either. When the two swords clashed, bursts of firelight and blue light exploded, the void cracked, and a sleeve on the Sun Goddess’s arm was torn open. Lu Ya’s eyes revealed unabated murderous intent, determined to slay the Sun Goddess.
Enlightenment Dao thought to himself, “More from the Various Heavens; it seems they truly penetrate everywhere. Who are these people exactly, allowing someone to impersonate Lady Xihe here in Yingzhou, absorbing the Incense Power and Wishes of the people of Yingzhou?”
“Stop!”
The Sun Goddess whispered softly, and with a swift motion, she raised the Sword of Heavenly Cloud Clusters in her hand. With a whoosh, a terrifyingly powerful Sword Qi slashed down. In this clash between experts, the void seemed as fragile as paper. Each of their moves manipulated the Heaven and Earth Laws, tearing the void into chaos, which was then continuously repaired by the Heavenly Dao Laws. Back and forth this went, in the blink of an eye, millions, tens of millions of times.
Daoist Lu Ya brandished the Innate Flaming Divine Sword in his hand, and atop the blade, a Golden Crow appeared, three-legged and entirely aflame, diving towards the downward-slashing Sword Qi! The temperature of the flames was so intense, it could instantly melt even the Jingu Bang if thrown into it—it was truly terrifying. Those standing on the clouds felt unbearably scorched! Waves of vapor rose into the air. As the Golden Crow collided with the Sword Qi, they exploded into a cold wind which then froze the vapor into ice blocks or raindrops that clattered down.
“This Magic Combat is simply too terrifying!” Hu Li said with a pale face.
The Ox Demon King quickly shielded her behind him, a blue light rising from his body that immediately blocked the terrifying fluctuations, making Hu Li much more comfortable. She softly expressed her thanks.
The Sun Goddess then put away the Sword of Heavenly Cloud Clusters and took out a mirror called the Eight-Shaku Mirror, which was also a formidable Magical Treasure.
Daoist Lu Ya cursed, “Laozi not showing power does not mean Laozi is a sick cat! Such trash Magical Treasures, yet you seek to suppress me with them!”
The Sun Goddess did not reply but flipped the mirror, and a beam of light fell down powerfully like a spilled galaxy.
Daoist Lu Ya conjured a spell, transforming into a blaze of fire that rushed upward. The light from the mirror struck the fire but failed to extinguish it; instead, it caused the flames to grow larger. The intense heat traveled up the beam of light to the Eight-Shaku Mirror, burning the Sun Goddess, who cried out sharply and quickly retracted the mirror.
The Sun Goddess then whipped out a jade ruler and struck out. The ruler elongated and struck the blaze, catching Daoist Lu Ya off guard. The fire dispersed, and he fell to the ground, cursing, “It hurts to death, what kind of Magical Treasure is this!”
The Sun Goddess said coldly, “Eight-Shaku Curved Jade.”
Daoist Lu Ya, having been tripped, felt a sharp pain in his back. He hadn’t expected the Magical Treasure to be so malevolent, capable of breaking through his Innate Flaming Barrier. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the Eight-Shaku Curved Jade contained a yin element within it; Yin and Yang being opposites, it was no wonder it could break through his barrier in one hit.
Daoist Lu Ya then raised the Immortal-Slaying and God-Punishing Treasured Saber and called out, “Please, my treasure, turn around!”
Suddenly, the eyes of the infant in the gourd he held opened, emitting a cold light that immobilized the Sun Goddess on the spot. Then a thin light emerged from the gourd, rising into the air and descending upon the Sun Goddess’s head.
However, the Eight-Shaku Mirror appeared above the head of the Sun Goddess and, with a flip, seemed about to reflect the thin light back.
Seeing this, Daoist Lu Ya, whose Magical Treasure had been blocked, exclaimed, “Yuan Shi Immortal Monarch, urgently follow this command!”
He then raised a talisman that burned into ash in midair, and the spectral image of a Taoist appeared.
This was a talisman lent to Daoist Lu Ya by the Yuan Shi Immortal Monarch for emergencies, and there were only a few left. Using one meant one less remained, but at this critical moment, it could not be helped. Daoist Lu Ya’s Innate Flaming Barrier had been broken, and the Immortal-Slaying and God-Punishing Treasured Saber had been immobilized by the mirror and could not strike; continuing the battle would likely result in great loss, so he directly used the talisman given by the Yuan Shi Immortal Monarch, borrowing the Saint’s mana from the Jade Void Palace.
“Hmm? Another pawn of the Various Heavens!” The indifferent voice of the Yuan Shi Immortal Monarch came, and with his fingers shaped like a sword, he lightly tapped that thin line of light emitted by the Immortal-Slaying and God-Punishing Treasured Saber. At that moment, the light fell, and the Eight-Shaku Mirror was instantly ground into powder.
The thin line of light fell onto the neck of the Sun Goddess and then coiled around it. Daoist Lu Ya whispered softly, and with a dull thud, the light suddenly tightened and decapitated the Sun Goddess.
Daoist Lu Ya aimed the gourd at the body and shouted, “Suck!”
Immense suction emanated from the gourd. The Primordial Spirit of the Sun Goddess tried to escape, screaming continuously, but it was to no avail. She had not expected Daoist Lu Ya to possess a Sage’s Talisman, allowing him to borrow power directly from a Saint; otherwise, she would not have engaged and would have simply fled.
Thus, the body along with the Primordial Spirit of the Sun Goddess were sucked into the gourd, where the light repeatedly shredded them into powder. No matter what, it was impossible for her to come back to life.
Dealing with an opponent above the Indestructible Realm necessitated such measures—destroying the Primordial Spirit in an instant and preferably the body as well, to prevent it from finding some fortuity to cultivate the Corpse Way and then, adhering to the causality of the past life, seeking revenge.
Daoist Lu Ya sealed the gourd and gave a respectful bow to the spectral image of the Yuan Shi Immortal Monarch, saying, “Thank you, Teacher.”
The Yuan Shi Immortal Monarch gave a slight nod, and the spectral image disappeared.
Daoist Lu Ya glanced at the onlookers from Flower-Fruit Mountain on the cloud’s edge, chuckled mischievously, but did not trouble them, and transformed into a blaze of fire that fled away.
The people from Flower-Fruit Mountain breathed a sigh of relief, not expecting the matter to end in such a manner.
Hu Li said, “Let’s hurry to Green Hills Country and kill Yamata no Orochi, then leave Yingzhou as soon as possible.”
The others nodded and followed Hu Li towards the north.
As to how the fortunes of these events will unfold, please listen to the next part.
