Chapter 171 - 171 168 Why the Urgency to Torment Each Other
Chapter 171: Chapter 168: Why the Urgency to Torment Each Other Chapter 171: Chapter 168: Why the Urgency to Torment Each Other The Great Mighty Celestial Dragon Bodhisattva was invincibly fierce, wounding Peng Demon King, Yu Rong King, and the Enlightenment Daoist brothers in one go. It truly seemed there was no escape from this calamity.
However, just as the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon was about to deliver another deadly blow, the other brothers had already arrived.
The Ox Demon King raised the Eight Scenic Lanterns, unleashing a vast expanse of purple flames that twisted the very void.
Seeing that the fire was Laojun’s Purifying Purple Flame, the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon immediately withdrew his fist, daring not to clash directly with his flesh, for once touched by this flame, the trouble would be immense! If Wukong had not been taken by Laojun, and if he were not in the Soothing Wind position, he would have already been reduced to ash by the flame.
The Ox Demon King cursed, “Great Mighty Celestial Dragon, stop your violence, I am here to meet your challenge!”
As the Ox Demon King’s fist thundered down, the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon threw his punch intending to meet it head-on, but the Ox Demon King’s palm suddenly opened, revealing a handful of Purifying Purple Flame. The Great Mighty Celestial Dragon was taken aback, inwardly cursing the brazenness of his enemy who cared nothing for propriety, and quickly drew back his arm, swiftly retreating a good distance away.
With the Purple Flame in his possession, the Ox Demon King let out a cold sinister laugh, “Thought you were so fierce, eh? Let’s see if you dare to clash palms with me!”
Grinding his teeth inwardly, the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon knew that the Ox Demon King had a secret technique to control the Purifying Purple Flame, which he himself did not. If the Purple Flame were to contaminate him, he estimated he would lose half his life.
“Brothers, let’s go quickly, don’t delay any longer!” shouted the Ox Demon King as he summoned a sea of flames that cut off the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon’s path, bellowing loudly.
Meanwhile, inside the Da Xiong Palace, the Tathagata looked down and caught sight of the sea of purple flames, realizing that the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon probably couldn’t defeat them.
Although the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon’s mana was not the highest among the Bodhisattvas, his combat power was peerless, capable of contending with Mount Meru, outrageously formidable; even a Bodhisattva as famous as Guanyin might not match him. His fists and feet could break through thousands of foes, and this was no exaggeration. But faced with such a formidable Magical Treasure, all he could do was fret helplessly.
“Peacock Great Ming King Bodhisattva, please go and resolve this karmic retribution yourself!” said the Tathagata calmly, intending for Kong Xuan to be pitted against his own brother, the Golden-winged Great Peng King.
Kong Xuan gave a slight nod, stood up from the Lotus Platform, then left the Da Xiong Palace.
Transforming into a beam of Five-Colored Divine Light, Kong Xuan arrived, and with a wave of his hand, the Divine Light fell and instantly reduced much of the Purifying Purple Flame. The Great Mighty Celestial Dragon took advantage of the gap to burst through, throwing a punch! The Ox Demon King was shocked, his body immediately covered with Witch Clan runes, and with a thunderous shout, his body transformed into a hundred feet tall. He threw a punch to meet the blow, and the clash erupted with a loud explosion.
Known as the Great Strength Bull Demon King, his physical power was naturally extremely strong, but he still fell short of the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon’s level, and the latter was much more fearsome. Though the punch managed to block the blow from the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon, the fist of the Ox Demon King was immediately a gory mess, with splatters of blood flying everywhere.
“This Mao Bodhisattva truly is the strongest Venerable of The West, even I cannot withstand him!” The Ox Demon King couldn’t help but inwardly lament and quickly scattered more Purple Flame to burn his foe, but having landed a successful strike, the Great Mighty Celestial Dragon had once again retreated far away.
Seeing Kong Xuan, the Peng Demon King’s eyes nearly burst with anger, he cried out, “Big brother, big brother!”
However, Kong Xuan remained expressionless, raising his hand to unleash the Five-Colored Divine Light. The Enlightenment Daoist brothers hurriedly went forward to pull the Peng Demon King back to retreat. The Lion Camel King and the Macaques King let out a roar, transformed into their true forms, applied their Divine Skills and barely managed to stop the assault. Yet, the two were also sent flying out, spitting blood. The Five-Colored Divine Light seemed light and fluttering, but it was birthed from the Innate Five-Element Spiritual Root and was akin to Mount Meru itself, bearing down so heavily that it nearly burst their physical forms.
“This is bad, bad news!” the Ox Demon King muttered to himself. “We Seven Great Demon Kings were more than a match for the scattered forces of the Heavenly Court, but we’re no match for these old freaks of the Buddhist sect. Just one Great Mighty Celestial Dragon is probably enough for us seven to fight for three days and nights! This Great Mighty Celestial Dragon is likely only someone my teacher can contend with; his flesh has become unbelievably strong.”
The Peng Demon King, too heartbroken by his brother’s plight, rushed to Mount Meru heedlessly, but had not expected the situation to become so dire, filled with immense regret.
In a moment, the six brothers were all wounded. And this was just from the arrival of two Bodhisattvas.
The Great Mighty Celestial Dragon pressed his palms together, “Peacock Great Ming King Bodhisattva, you handle this ox-headed fire wielder. I will personally take them down!”
He activated the “Great Majestic Dragon Gaze”, presenting a dignified treasure-like appearance. His body swelled, with blue veins coiled around like dragons, looking terribly menacing.
Kong Xuan gave a slight nod, a round of Five-Colored Divine Light showered down, aiming for the Eight Scenic Lanterns. Frightened, the Ox Demon King began to sweat purple as he hurriedly swallowed the Eight Scenic Lanterns into his stomach. However, the shower of Divine Light hit him squarely, suddenly making him feel as though several mountains were pressing down on him. The impact sent him tumbling down as his skin split and flesh burst open.
The Peng Demon King shouted hoarsely, “Kong Xuan! Have you forgotten the days when we depended on each other for survival? You are my elder brother! And now you’re going to kill me? I won’t resist, if you want to kill me, just do it directly!”
Kong Xuan didn’t hesitate, unleashing a rainbow of Five-Colored Divine Light. Had it hit its target squarely, brains would have splattered without a doubt.
The Yu Rong King hurriedly dived in, embracing the Peng Demon King and rolling eighteen times on the spot to dodge the attack, then couldn’t help but curse, “His mind is already controlled by the Tathagata, and you still let him strike at you. Are you seeking death?”
The Peng Demon King roared and was about to ascend to the heavens, intent on self-destructing, but Kong Xuan released another Five-Colored Divine Light, knocking the Peng Demon King down with a thud.
The Tathagata’s move was undeniably ruthless, intending for brothers to maim each other, truly cruel!
The Mahoraga sneered coldly, “What other tricks do you have up your sleeves?!”
As the words fell, the sound of a sword chant rose, and a sword, as fleet as a startling swan, rushed forth—it was the Enlightenment Dao’s Sword Leading Immortal Flight!
The Mahoraga’s eyes went wide, and he spread his arms just in time to catch the tip of the sword at his throat, his flesh palms firmly grasping it! The Enlightenment Dao’s sword thrust was as swift as thunder, yet it was still caught by the Mahoraga, failing to pierce his throat.
“Ha!” With a loud grunt, the Mahoraga exhaled a powerful breath, transforming it into a Qi Sword and thrusting it forth with a ‘pfft’ sound.
The Enlightenment Dao was struck by the sword breath in his right chest, spewing blood, as the Qi Sword pierced through his back. The force sent him tumbling dozens of times across the ground, his entire body drenched in blood.
The Enlightenment Dao was already gravely injured; this sword was but the last of his strength. After being blocked and severely wounded again, if the fight continued, it seemed inevitable that he would be reduced to ashes.
“What are we to do now? Are all seven of us going to die on Mount Meru?” Grieved in his heart like a fire burning, the Enlightenment Dao struggled to get up, his formerly serene expression lost, his topknot disheveled and his body drenched in blood, utterly wretched.
The Lion Camel King charged forward, only to be struck by a punch from the Mahoraga. His fleshly body was not as strong as the Ox Demon King’s, and naturally, it could not withstand the Mahoraga. He was sent flying backward, his bones broken beyond measure!
“Big brother, Great Peng, Sixth Brother, Seventh Brother, all of you who are fast must flee! We will use the technique of disassembling into thunder to stall these two!” the Macaques King shouted angrily, having unleashed his True Fire. He knew that if they didn’t make a decisive move soon, everyone present risked losing their lives. Only by sacrificing a few could they hold off the enemies and carve out a chance to escape for the rest.
The Seven Great Demon Kings were like madmen, at the moment of life and death, without the slightest hesitation.
Dispersing the flesh and transforming the Primordial Spirit into thunder, such was the method of self-destruction, a mutual annihilation tactic that nobody would use unless absolutely necessary! The stronger the body, the greater the power of the self-destruction, and therefore, self-explosions from demon race members were especially terrifying. These Demon Kings had all received Gonggong’s Essence Blood, and if they self-destructed, both the Mahoraga and Kong Xuan would have to retreat to avoid the impact.
“No, if we are to go, we must go together!” the Yu Rong King exclaimed.
“Go without us, who then will avenge us?” the Macaques King said through gritted teeth.
One Mahoraga was more than enough to keep them busy – the Bodhisattva’s combat prowess was unduly high, and that was without considering Kong Xuan, who at the very least was on the creator’s level of strength, lurking nearby. Any casual burst of Five-Colored Divine Light from him wasn’t something they could defend against.
The Mahoraga had charged forward again, fists and kicks generating wind, each punch and kick having the power to shake Mount Sumeru. Even the Ox Demon King, renowned for his prowess in close combat, was forced to retreat repeatedly, falling to the ground several times, his flesh mangled and his bones protruding and shattered.
The Peng Demon King said, “This calamity arose because of me, endangering the lives of my brothers. I should be the one to resolve it with my disassembly!”
The Peng Demon King formed spells with his hands, already reciting the oral spell of disassembly in his heart, preparing to dissolve his body and Primordial Spirit and self-detonate into Divine Thunder.
As to what became of their lives, tune in to the next installment for the resolution.
