The Beautiful Boss’s Personal Bodyguard
Chapter 733 - 668_2
CHAPTER 733: 668_2
Now that I’ve left the Sixth Group, the current house also has to be returned to the owners, and I have to find another place to live, which is a real headache.
Ye Tian returned home, and all three kids were there, staying inside to enjoy the air conditioning because it was too hot outside.
"What? You really left the Sixth Group?" Xiaoqian asked, although she had guessed that Ye Tian wouldn’t stay there for long, this time his decision seemed rather sudden.
"Yeah."
"Then what are we going to eat in the future?" Xiaoqian suddenly thought of a very practical question.
"Huh?" Ye Tian didn’t expect Xiaoqian to be worried about their livelihood, she really was down-to-earth.
"Xiao Yi really isn’t getting any breaks in life," Xiaoqian said indifferently.
"Yeah," Ye Tian agreed.
"However, this time Bai Yanwu will definitely come back, just don’t know if she’ll be upset," Yu Xiao sighed.
"What kind of feelings can they have? Didn’t you hear that not long ago, Xiao Yi almost raped Bai Yanwu? But fate really knows how to torment them." Xiaoqian had no fondness for Xiao Yi, and felt somewhat sorry for Bai Yanwu, after all, they had lived together for a while.
"If Bai Yanwu is smart enough, she should not come back," Ye Tian said thoughtfully, stroking his chin.
"What do you mean?" Yu Xiao didn’t understand, "They are siblings after all, her brother is going to die, how could she not come back to see him?"
"Think about it, who is Bai Yanwu? Bai Shi had made so many enemies back then, now Xiao Yi gets the entire underground power in his hands, whether they are envious or hateful, wouldn’t they strike at her now?"
"All these have nothing to do with Bai Yanwu, do they?"
"Have you never heard of the butterfly effect? Are there really any two matters in life that are completely unrelated?" Ye Tian leaned back, resting his hands behind his head and placing his feet on the coffee table.
Life had just quieted down, but it looked like a storm of blood and violence was about to hit again. However, all of that no longer had anything to do with him.
Ye Tian, thinking of the impassive Xiao Yi, who could calmly face the death of his own brother, Guo Bin, now it seemed like karma had caught up with him.
Ye Tian was listening to Xiaoqian and Yu Xiao chatting away; Li Tianjiao had changed, he seemed more stable than before, but Ye Tian wasn’t quite used to this silent version of Li Tianjiao.
Sigh, when I have time I should really have a good talk with him.
Ye Tian was almost dozing off when there was a knock at the door.
He opened his eyes, wondering if it could be Qin Chuan coming for the house, but surely he wouldn’t be that heartless.
As usual, Xiaoqian sent Yu Xiao to open the door.
"Brother Tian, someone’s looking for you," Yu Xiao turned back to say to the drowsy Ye Tian.
"Who?" Ye Tian sat up and looked at the two entering strangers, not recognizing either. "Who are you guys?"
"You’re Ye Tian, right? We’re from Xiao Yi’s side." Ye Tian had not seen the speaker before and had no impression of him; after all, his interactions with Xiao Yi had been minimal.
"Isn’t Xiao Yi almost gone? What does he want with me now? I’m not a doctor."
"It’s really important for Xiao Yi to find Brother Tian. Please, just come with us, you know his current condition..." The sorrow on the man’s face wasn’t fake, "It’s hard to say."
"Alright, I’ll go with you." Ye Tian glanced at Xiaoqian and saw her nod at him, knowing there was no trap in this matter.
"I’ll go too." Yu Xiao, not trusting Ye Tian to go alone, promptly volunteered.
"Mm-hmm," Ye Tian nodded.
Following that, the two of them left together with the two who had arrived earlier.
Ye Tian and Yu Xiao, along with the two individuals, arrived at the hospital. Indeed, Xiao Yi was riddled with tubes, his face showing severe blood loss.
"You wanted to see me?" Ye Tian sat down on a chair nearby and asked Xiao Yi with an indifferent expression.
"I’m already in this state, might kick the bucket any minute now, and you’re still giving me that attitude?" Xiao Yi’s voice labored.
"What kind of attitude should I have towards you? It’s not like I think our relationship has reached a point where we can have a proper conversation," Ye Tian replied, still looking disgruntled.
"Yes, I have schemed against you, but you know I’ve never really hurt you," said Xiao Yi weakly, as if his voice might fade at any moment.
"Alright, if you have something to say, hurry up. In case you croak in a moment, I’d be wasting my time."
"Do you really hate me that much? So even when I’m dying, you’re still unwilling to talk to me?"
"I don’t hate you! Because you’re not even worth the word ’hate’! I despise you, because you could be so indifferent towards your own brothers, to the point of disregarding their lives. Are only your family members considered family to you? Do the dead matter less than the living?" Ye Tian continued to interrogate Xiao Yi.
"Heh. Here’s a will I’ve written. Take good care of it," Xiao Yi gestured for someone by his side to hand a piece of paper to Ye Tian.
Ye Tian took it, glanced over it, and his expression changed slightly.
"Why do this?"
"Because only like this can I protect Yanwu. Please agree to take over, if you don’t, something happening to Yanwu is just a matter of time."
Ye Tian knew that Xiao Yi’s concerns were valid, just as he himself had thought before. No matter who took the top seat, it wasn’t going to be a good thing for Bai Yanwu. However, if it was him, Xiao Yi believed Ye Tian wouldn’t harm her.
But, did he really want to pick up such a hot potato? He didn’t want Bai Yanwu to be in danger, but that didn’t mean he wanted to be responsible for her safety his entire life.
What’s more important was, having just escaped from the cage of the Sixth Group, was he really so eager to jump into another cage?
"Ye Tian, you are not meant for a small pond, just lacking a stepping stone."
"I will consider it carefully."
That night, Ye Tian suffered from insomnia, something he hadn’t experienced in a long time; he genuinely didn’t know whether he should make this decision. If only there was someone to help him figure things out, even if not to provide a solution, at least to listen to him. But, truly, there was nobody.
The night breeze was less stifling than during the day, and Ye Tian suddenly felt the urge to go out for a walk alone.
Each time Ye Tian wanted to go out at night, he’d exit through the window, descending from the fourth floor — not a great height for him, effortlessly at that. However, as soon as he opened the window, he had already woken Yu Xiao, who was asleep.
Yu Xiao shook his head helplessly, letting out an inaudible sigh.
Yu Xiao had heard everything Xiao Yi said today, but he did not know what Ye Tian’s final decision would be. Having seen Xiao Yi’s face, Yu Xiao guessed that the end was near for him; he had been severely injured, and now he was simply seeking death, not wanting to cling to life.
People were still immersed in their nocturnal lives; at midnight, the youth, with their thick dark circles, expended their abundant energy.
Just as Ye Tian had thought, Xiao Yi’s demise had set the hearts of many ambitious people in motion, their thirst for power reaching the Peak.
Ye Tian had never imagined that Xiao Yi would gather the city’s underground forces in his hands. Now without trustworthy people, how could he dare to? Yet, he nonetheless did it, but it was a pity, as fleeting as a blooming night flower.
Two gangs were fighting in the alley. The noise gave Ye Tian a headache; he wanted to bypass it but spotted someone using a familiar fighting technique. He stopped involuntarily, observing carefully.
Right! This was the Dragon Team’s fighting style. Their training was extremely rigorous, usually opting for lethal moves against the enemy, unlike other units.
