CHAPTER 158: CHAPTER 159: GAVE BIRTH TO A SON

"Yes, I’ll take the Young Master out right now!"

No mother doesn’t love her own child, but Melanie Carpenter disliked her baby. The Nanny knew Melanie had a bad temper, so she quickly picked up the child and went to feed him.

Mr. Lucas saw that Adrian Desmond’s message had been delivered, so he took the opportunity to say, "Miss Carpenter, you just gave birth, so take a good rest. If you need anything, give me a call."

"Ask Sixth Brother how to handle the child’s full moon ceremony."

Mr. Lucas had a friendly smile on his face and replied, "Sixth Master’s intention is that if Miss Carpenter wants to hold a ceremony, she can do it herself, but Sixth Master will not be involved."

The meaning was that Melanie could hold the full moon ceremony for her son, but not as Adrian Desmond’s son.

Mr. Lucas despised her in his heart: It’s obviously not Sixth Master’s child, yet she tries to push it on him, thinking he’s easy to bully.

If it wasn’t for her father’s sake, how could Adrian Desmond tolerate her so much? Perhaps even Adrian himself was unaware that his tolerance had only emboldened Melanie to be more extreme.

"...Sixth Brother isn’t going to acknowledge this child?" Melanie asked confidently.

Housekeeper Mr. Lucas looked at Melanie’s face. It no longer held any trace of its former gentleness and peace; instead, it was filled with harshness and madness.

"Miss Carpenter, the child isn’t Sixth Master’s. How can you expect him to acknowledge it?" Mr. Lucas, despite his good temper, couldn’t tolerate Melanie’s presumptuousness. No wonder Adrian doesn’t want to see her anymore; there’s just no way to communicate with her.

"This child is Sixth Master’s."

Melanie insisted adamantly. Mr. Lucas chuckled twice and didn’t argue further. Everyone knows the truth. Trying to frame Sixth Master? Melanie isn’t qualified enough for that.

"Miss Carpenter, take care." Mr. Lucas turned to leave and almost bumped into Jule.

Mr. Lucas bowed slightly to greet him, "Young Master Jule, how have you been lately?"

Jule was not doing well. He hadn’t settled things with Melanie yet, and at home, his parents, despite their advanced age, had suddenly started talking about divorce.

"Hmph!" Jule harbored resentment towards Adrian Desmond, and by extension, he disliked Mr. Lucas too.

Mr. Lucas looked at Jule’s still-bruised face, knowing the injuries were from Adrian Desmond, and felt a surge of delight.

Mr. Lucas still preferred Sixth Master’s domineering style: I won’t waste words with you. If you provoke me, I’ll beat you!

When Melanie saw Jule’s face, she immediately averted her gaze, not wanting to look at him even for a second. "What are you doing here again?" she asked, her tone laced with annoyance.

"Where’s our son?"

Melanie said unhappily, "Jule, if you want a son, get another woman to give birth to one for you! That’s my son, not yours!"

Jule’s eyes dimmed with sadness. He placed the chicken soup he had brought on the table. Ignoring her bad temper, he said, "I brought you some chicken soup. Drink some. You just gave birth; you need to take care of your body."

"I don’t need your concern!" Melanie retorted, unappreciative.

Jule poured her a bowl of chicken soup, using a spoon to cool it down, blowing on each spoonful. "Melanie," he said dejectedly, "I’m getting married."

Melanie was stunned for a moment, then looked at him with mockery in her eyes.

Men are indeed unreliable. Adrian had promised her father he would marry her and take good care of her. But what happened? He met that bitch and forgot everything.

The man before her claimed to love her, but what happened? After he got her body, he was turning around to marry another woman.

"Then I congratulate you!" Melanie’s tone was thick with sarcasm.

Jule looked utterly weary. He sighed and said, "It’s just a family alliance marriage. I don’t love that woman at all."

"You don’t need to explain so much to me."

"I have to say it! Melanie, I love you. Getting married is something I’m forced to do. My father found out that my mother killed the woman he loved years ago, and he’s insisting on divorcing my mother. My mother has been pushed into a corner with no way out. I can only agree to this alliance marriage. Only by gaining control of the company’s financial lifeline can I make my father reconsider."

"I told you, you don’t need to explain so much to me," Melanie said cruelly. "Jule, I don’t love you at all. Who you love, who you want to marry—it has nothing to do with me!"

She swept her arm, knocking the bowl of chicken soup from his hand. The soup was still very hot, and Jule’s hand instantly turned red.

"Get out!"

Jule sighed inwardly, heartbroken. Why couldn’t she see him, even after all these years he had liked her? Why wouldn’t she accept him?

"Adrian has found Mai. He... he won’t love you."

"What?" Melanie asked in shock. "She’s back? How is that possible?"

Jule didn’t hide anything, telling her everything he had done. After listening, Melanie’s face contorted into a terrifying, savage expression. She lunged at Jule, screaming, "Jule, I’ll kill you!"

He caught her in his arms and kissed her lips. He was like a fish stranded on land, and the woman in his embrace was his air; only by kissing her could he survive.

"MMMH..."

She struggled and pummeled him. After a long while, the two finally separated.

"Bastard!" Melanie raised her arm and slapped him hard across the face. Tears streamed down as she cried, "Jule, I hate you! I hate you!"

"Hate me then. As long as you keep me in your heart, that’s enough."

"Leave! I don’t want to see you again!" Melanie sobbed, looking utterly pitiful. Jule, however, did not do as she wished. "I’ll come back to see you and our son!"

"He’s not your son! He’s Adrian Desmond’s son!" she yelled at him.

"Melanie, how long are you going to deceive yourself? Adrian Desmond doesn’t even acknowledge the child is his! And I am the child’s father!" His hand caressed the tears on Melanie’s face as he said firmly, "Melanie, stop thinking about Adrian Desmond. Just be at peace and be with me!"

"Dream on!"

Melanie swatted his hand away, her expression showing that his touch disgusted her.

"The child is Adrian Desmond’s! Jule, I’ll say it again!" She wouldn’t listen to anything.

"I won’t be able to come see you for the next few days. If you need anything, call me!"

"Go! And never come back!"

Melanie only wanted to see Adrian Desmond!

All she wanted was Adrian Desmond!

Jule left the hospital room, his heart heavy. In the hallway, he saw his son. The Nanny had just finished feeding him; the child was asleep and looked very cute. Even if no one else anticipated his birth, he, as the father, was happy about his arrival.

"Take good care of him." Jule held him for a while before reluctantly handing the child back to the Nanny.
