CHAPTER 184: CHAPTER 185: A MAN WANTS TO BECOME A SON-IN-LAW LIVING IN HIS WIFE’S HOUSE
"A Kors limited edition hairpin! This hairpin must cost over a hundred thousand, right... A friend of mine wanted to buy it last time but couldn’t even get her hands on one. Madam Johnson is so wealthy; even a casual hairpin she wears costs over a hundred thousand. I’m really curious, where does your family’s money come from?"
Upon hearing this, the onlookers, who were initially puzzled, suddenly understood. They began pointing at Amelia Smith and her group. So it turned out that Eric Johnson had abused his position for personal gain, broken the law, and been fired. And now, too afraid to show his own face, he’d sent his daughter-in-law and grandchild to cause a scene.
No one here is a fool; with a little thought, they all grasped the situation. These women were clearly here to threaten Sienna Johnson, figuring Miss Johnson was young and could be easily exploited. However, it turned out Miss Johnson was not someone to be trifled with.
"Stop making a scene and take your child away! Look at the poor kid, crying his heart out. They’re already being incredibly merciful by not having your father-in-law thrown in jail. You should know when to quit," one of the onlookers, unable to watch any longer, shouted.
"Exactly! In life, don’t push your luck. Always leave a way out; it’s better for future encounters!" another added.
When Amelia Smith saw Sienna Johnson expose her completely in just a few sentences, she flew into a rage out of shame and anger. Holding her child, she rushed forward, but Lucas Robertson intercepted her. Amelia Smith kicked and struggled, screaming, "You shameless woman! Pretending to be noble while flirting around and seducing other women’s husbands! Who do you think you are? Bah! What do you amount to? Popping out a little bastard before you’re even married..."
Sienna Johnson’s face instantly darkened. Beside her, Lucas Robertson was so furious he looked ready to strike Amelia. "You crazy woman, watch your mouth! What bastard? If Adrian Desmond knew you dared to call his daughter a bastard, believe me, he’d make you wish you were dead!"
Just as he finished speaking, Sienna Johnson cut him off, her voice rising, "Amelia Smith, I was trying to show you some courtesy. But since you’re asking to be humiliated, fine, then we’ll handle this by the book."
"Eric Johnson embezzled from our Johnson Family, and I will recover every single item he took!"
Although Amelia Smith was snapping like a madwoman, she wasn’t truly insane. She was just an ordinary young woman. She had thought that if she threw caution to the wind, the Johnson Family couldn’t do much to a mere woman like her. Besides, the Johnsons had always been known for their decency; perhaps they’d even let her father-in-law continue as Manager of Eastminster Pharmaceutical Factory for the child’s sake. She never expected to encounter Miss Johnson herself.
Her son was wailing. On top of that, though she and Miss Johnson were about the same age, Miss Johnson looked radiant and glamorous while she herself looked like a woman in her thirties. Whether it was shame or jealousy, fury blazed in her heart, and for a moment, she lost all reason.
Hearing Sienna Johnson declare she would pursue the matter, Amelia Smith finally felt a wave of fear, so scared her legs went soft. Yet, she stubbornly retorted, "You’re talking nonsense! My father-in-law never embezzled anything! You’re maliciously slandering him! Sienna Johnson, you’re so young yet so vicious! You’ll get what’s coming to you someday!"
"Whether he did or not, the judge will decide!"
Ignoring everyone, Sienna Johnson turned and went back into the Johnson Family residence, and the Johnson Family’s main gate closed behind her.
Amelia Smith wailed, clutching her child and making a show of threatening to kill herself. Unfortunately for her, no one tried to stop her; she didn’t actually have the courage to smash her head against the wall.
The onlookers saw through Amelia Smith’s charade and knew she wouldn’t dare go through with it. They started to jeer, "Go on, hit it! Hurry up and hit it! We want to see the show, but then we have to go home for lunch. HAHA..."
"This young woman doesn’t have the guts!"
"She’s just trying to scare honest folk, but Miss Johnson is clearly no pushover to be easily bullied."
Amelia Smith, seething with shame and anger, roared at the crowd, "You people! Have you no compassion? Are you even human?!"
One man, clearly of some standing, spoke up, "Our sympathy is reserved for those who deserve it, and you are certainly not one of them."
Amelia Smith glared at the young man and sneered, "Kid, don’t think I haven’t noticed. Aren’t you just saying that because Sienna Johnson is pretty? You’ve got a crush on her, haven’t you?"
...
Amelia Smith spat on the ground and cursed, "Men are truly no good, every last one of them! Their hearts soften when their desires are stirred, and harden when they’re not. The moment they see a pretty face, they lose all sense of right and wrong. Sienna Johnson is looking to marry a man into her family, you know. What, are you also thinking of joining the Johnson Family as her live-in husband?"
The man removed his large sunglasses. Most people would have been furious at such words, but this young man didn’t seem angry at all. He asked, "Is she really looking for a live-in husband?"
Amelia Smith was stunned for a moment. "Of course, it’s true!"
"Then I want to be Sienna Johnson’s live-in husband!"
The crowd, already enjoying one spectacle, was suddenly treated to another, courtesy of this young man who had interjected himself.
Amelia Smith never expected the man to actually want to be Sienna Johnson’s live-in husband. She said disdainfully, "You call yourself a man? If your parents knew you were this worthless, they should have drowned you in a chamber pot the day you were born."
The man breathed on his glasses, wiped them with a handkerchief, and said nonchalantly, "That’s none of your concern. As for whether I’m a man or not, I’m afraid I’ll never have the chance to prove it to you in my lifetime."
With that, the man beckoned to a reporter in the crowd. "You, come here!"
The reporter had been shrinking back, trying to minimize his presence, but he was recognized nonetheless.
"You again?"
"HEHE, Young Master Cooper, what brings an esteemed person like yourself here?" Shaw Theodore, the reporter from NewBlue Media Group, greeted him with a strained smile.
"What were you photographing just now?"
Arnold Cooper, addressed as Young Master Cooper, snatched the camera from his hand. He looked at the photos inside, then his gaze fixed on Sienna Johnson’s face in the pictures, and he fell silent.
"Miss Johnson. This Miss Johnson is very mysterious, so I just wanted to report some news about her. The audience loves to see it, especially men!" Shaw Theodore stammered.
Arnold Cooper confiscated his camera, patted him on the chest, and warned, "Her—you are not to write about her casually in the future! Understand?"
"HEHE..."
"Stop playing dumb with me with your HEHEs!"
...
"I won’t hide it from you," Arnold Cooper said. "I’ve taken a fancy to her, and I’ve decided I’m going to be her live-in husband. If you dare bully her, you’re bullying me. So, you’d better weigh your options carefully." He patted Shaw Theodore forcefully on the shoulder, then got into his sports car and sped off.
"Young Master Cooper, don’t you like men?" Shaw Theodore called after him, bewildered.
"HEHE, I suddenly had a change of orientation!" came the reply as the car disappeared.
Seeing there was no more excitement to be had, the crowd gradually dispersed.
Seeing that her ’audience’ had dispersed and noticing the child in her arms had fainted, Amelia Smith had no choice but to leave for now.
As she left, Amelia Smith muttered through gritted teeth, "Sienna Johnson, just you wait!"
