CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 089: I WOULD COMMIT SUICIDE TOO

Sienna Johnson was dressed beautifully that day. Her short hair, now shoulder-length, was styled in voluminous soft curls. She wore a loose, bright red dress that completely concealed her slightly protruding belly. Due to her pregnancy, she wore a pair of black, low-heeled shoes.

Sienna put on her sunglasses, waved her hand, and said, "Kiki, let’s go."

Kiki resignedly slung the heavy bag over her shoulder, gazing at the woman striding ahead. She still couldn’t quite get used to the fact that Mai had become Sienna Johnson, even though they were the same person.

When they reached the door, the Housekeeper, Mr. Lucas, was already there to greet them. Upon seeing Sienna, Mr. Lucas respectfully asked, "Madam, are you going out?"

Sienna, peering at Mr. Lucas through her sunglasses, nonchalantly replied, "Yes. The weather is so nice today. I feel like going for a stroll. If I don’t get out, I’ll start to feel moldy."

"The interior designer will be here today to discuss the nursery design. Madam, it would be best if you waited at home." Adrian Desmond had specifically instructed Mr. Lucas before leaving not to let Sienna go out, so Mr. Lucas dared not let her leave.

"Isn’t Mr. Lucas at home? What, can’t you even handle something like this?" Sienna retorted.

"Well... everyone has different tastes. It’s best if Madam makes the decisions for the nursery," the Housekeeper responded, neither humble nor pushy.

"Adrian’s preferences are my preferences. You’ve been Adrian’s housekeeper for so many years, so you must be very familiar with his tastes. You can decide on the nursery design on his behalf," Sienna asserted.

"Still, it would be better for Madam to decide," said the slightly chubby yet shrewd and tactful Mr. Lucas.

Sienna took off her sunglasses and stared at him coldly. "Mr. Lucas..."

"Yes, Madam!" Mr. Lucas responded respectfully.

"Do you think only Melanie Carpenter can commit suicide?"

Sweat abruptly broke out on Mr. Lucas’s forehead. He looked up at the woman in the striking red outfit. She put her sunglasses back on and casually asked, "How did Miss Carpenter commit suicide? By hanging, cutting her wrists, or overdosing on sleeping pills? Tell me, so I can learn too."

"Madam, you’re pregnant. This is no joking matter." If Sienna committed suicide, Adrian would never spare him.

"Mr. Lucas, have you ever heard of pregnant women developing depression? If a pregnant woman is in a bad mood for too long, she can easily become depressed. And severe depression can lead to suicidal tendencies... If you keep me cooped up here all day and don’t let me go out to relax, I might just develop depression by tonight..."

This was a threat, a naked one. If Mr. Lucas dared to stand in her way, Sienna wouldn’t mind staging a "suicide by sleeping pills" drama that very night.

"Madam, then..." Mr. Lucas hesitated. He knew how capable this woman was of stirring up trouble. If he didn’t let her go, she would definitely make things difficult for him. "It’s too dangerous outside, and Madam is pregnant. You should take more attendants with you."

"Alright, you arrange it. But don’t let me see them; they’ll ruin my mood for shopping," Sienna agreed.

"Yes."

Sienna walked out with a swagger. Inside the car, Selena Robertson was drenched in cold sweat, looking at Sienna with admiration. "Mai, you’re so impressive! How dare you speak to Mr. Lucas like that?"

Mr. Lucas held a high position in the Desmond Family, and all the servants feared him. But Sienna didn’t. She wasn’t even afraid of Adrian, let alone Mr. Lucas.

"This is what they call ’the fox borrowing the tiger’s might.’ Adrian is the tiger, and I’m the fox."

"Mai, where are we going shopping?" Kiki was a young woman, and like most young women, she loved shopping.

"First, business."

Following the address Lucas Robertson had given her, Sienna found the bearded man he had vouched for. She handed him the contents of the bag, got his phone number, and then left.

Kiki’s heart pounded like a frightened deer as she hurried after Sienna. "...Mai, will there be any problems? I don’t know why, but that man looked ferocious. He didn’t seem like a good person."

Sienna playfully tapped Kiki’s little nose and smiled. "Since when did our Kiki become so good at reading faces?"

"I’m serious."

"Alright, I trust Lucas Robertson!"

"Is that Lucas Robertson really so reliable?" Kiki was still skeptical of him, feeling that the man of average height didn’t seem all that capable.

"Don’t judge a book by its cover, Kiki."

A portly man walking towards them leered at Sienna and Kiki, much to Sienna’s displeasure.

"Excuse me, beautiful ladies, may I know your names? Can we be friends?"

Sienna glanced back, and several plainclothes bodyguards immediately stepped forward. Sienna ignored the man and continued shopping with Kiki.

"I didn’t expect Abyanabad to be so bustling."

"Abyanabad is very wealthy, and its social welfare is good... Oh, by the way, did you know that the Princess Consort of Abyanabad is the Sixth Master’s biological sister? I heard she’s incredibly beautiful. The Prince of Abyanabad fell in love with her at first sight..." Kiki chattered.

Sienna had never been fond of these Cinderella-esque stories where a commoner girl marries into royalty and becomes a phoenix. Every ordinary girl loved to hear them, though.

If Cinderella hadn’t worn splendid clothes, the prince wouldn’t have noticed her. Besides, Cinderella was a princess to begin with. A princess for a prince—a perfectly matched love affair.

"Are you envious? Do you want to marry a prince too?" Sienna asked.

"How would a prince ever notice me?"

"Kiki, you’re a beauty, you know! Be more confident!" Sienna patted her on the chest and then her bottom. Kiki covered her rear and glared at her reproachfully. "I’m not talking to you anymore!"

A few steps later, Kiki had already forgotten what she’d just said. "Mai, let’s go get some ice cream..."

There was a Dessert Shop ahead. Kiki had a sweet tooth, so Sienna went in with her.

Kiki ordered vanilla ice cream, and Sienna had a freshly squeezed fruit juice. They also ordered some bread and cake. Sienna added an egg tart and a soufflé to the order.

"It feels so good to be out shopping!" Kiki said with a sigh of contentment, digging into her ice cream. "Mai, I’ve never had such a carefree life before..."

"What kind of terrible hardships were you enduring before?" Sienna asked.

"I used to work myself to the bone just to make a living. Where would I find the leisure to go shopping? Besides, I had no money and no time," Kiki answered.

Sienna looked at the beautiful Selena Robertson. With her looks, she could have lived very comfortably. Yet, Selena chose to rely on her own two hands, living a life of hard work and integrity.

"Stick with me from now on, and I’ll make sure you eat well and live well."

"Okay! Then I’m sticking with you. Don’t you dare try to get rid of me!"

"..."

"Sixth Master..." Selena Robertson, who was facing the door, saw Adrian Desmond push it open and enter. Adrian, looking weary from his journey, scanned the shop. His gaze quickly fell on Sienna and then remained fixed on her.
