The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 90 - 090: Adrian Desmond is Getting Married
CHAPTER 90: CHAPTER 090: ADRIAN DESMOND IS GETTING MARRIED
"Mai, Sixth Master is here..." Kiki reminded her in a whisper.
"Hm."
Sienna Johnson recognized Adrian Desmond’s footsteps. She knew it was him the moment she heard them. The smile vanished from her face like smoke, and with it, the leisure and contentment from her earlier shopping trip. The man who once brought her happiness now only brought her annoyance and sadness.
"Didn’t I tell you not to go out? Why are you so disobedient?" Adrian walked straight toward Sienna.
The dessert shop was near a middle school, and today was Saturday – a day off for the students. The shop was filled with young girls in school uniforms. As soon as Adrian entered, his handsome and mysterious aura immediately caught the attention of the star-struck schoolgirls.
"Wow, he’s so handsome..."
"..."
"Is he a celebrity?"
"..."
"But I’ve never seen him before... Maybe he’s a new star?"
"..."
"Look, he’s walking toward that beautiful woman. What’s their relationship? ...Oh no, my heart’s beating so fast..."
A group of schoolgirls huddled together, whispering and giggling with flushed faces, shyly watching Adrian. Annoyed by their chatter, Adrian glanced over, and his gaze instantly silenced them.
Seeing the murderous glint in Adrian’s eyes, Sienna chuckled, "Sixth Master, they’re just children. Why are you scaring them?"
Adrian sat down opposite Sienna and took the fruit juice she had been drinking, finishing it in a gulp. Kiki was afraid of Adrian; moreover, she felt guilty and was sitting on pins and needles. When Sienna asked her to wait outside, Kiki practically fled.
"Why is she so scared of me? I haven’t done anything to her," Adrian said, looking at Kiki’s retreating figure.
"How is your fiancee?"
"She’s fine." Adrian’s eyes darkened. His index finger tapped lightly on the table as he fell silent.
Sienna recalled the night Adrian had abandoned her to find his fiancee. The memory was like a thorn in her heart, and it still ached.
"Kiki and I want to shop a bit more. You must be busy, Sixth Master."
Adrian grabbed Sienna’s hand. "I’m marrying Melanie on the 6th of next month."
Sienna was stunned; she hadn’t expected it to be so soon. She had thought he would only consider marrying Melanie Carpenter after she had left.
Melanie Carpenter was truly resourceful. She usually appeared so gentle and unassuming, as if she never vied for anything, yet she had managed to secure Adrian so quickly. The discomfort in Sienna’s heart felt like a bursting dam, threatening to engulf her. This man... he had truly failed her.
Barely suppressing her heartbreak, Sienna slowly withdrew her hand from Adrian’s grasp. With a faint smile, she said softly, "Then, let me congratulate you, Sixth Master."
"...After my wedding with Melanie, let’s have our own ceremony."
Lately, his heart had been restless, with a constant feeling that something was about to happen. He had to marry her, bring her home; then she wouldn’t be able to fly away.
"There’s no rush for us, Sixth Master. We can discuss it later," Sienna said, her tone ice-cold.
"Mai!" He didn’t want her to speak to him with such indifference. Adrian’s unease intensified. He grabbed her small hand again, this time holding it even tighter.
"Even though I’m marrying Melanie, in my heart, you are the most important."
If she were truly the most important person to him, he wouldn’t have bullied her, neglected her, and hurt her feelings time and time again. Suppressing her resentment, Sienna maintained a faint smile. "I understand."
"Didn’t you want to go shopping? I’ll go with you. Buy whatever you want..." Adrian’s attitude suggested he intended to compensate her with money, which only deepened Sienna’s displeasure.
She had wanted to go shopping to clear her head, but with Adrian, this ’great Buddha,’ tagging along, she decided against it. "Actually, I’m a bit tired. Let’s just go back."
With that, Sienna pushed open the door without waiting for Adrian and walked out. The bell above the door jingled. Through the glass window, Adrian watched her beautiful silhouette. He had a persistent feeling that she would fly away from his side at any moment.
His gaze paused on her abdomen, and a sense of relief instantly washed over him. She was carrying his child; surely she wouldn’t hold so many grievances against him then. Besides, how could she bear to abandon their child?
Adrian smiled faintly and followed her out.
...
In the car, neither of them spoke much. As they passed a jade shop, Sienna asked the driver to stop. She went in and bought two pieces of high-quality jade and a set of carving knives.
"What are you buying these for?"
"You and Mrs. Desmond are getting married, so naturally, I want to express my well wishes. I happen to be skilled at seal carving, so I’ll carve a seal for each of you," Sienna said casually, fiddling with the two jade pieces, perfectly sized for seals.
"I’m sorry, Mai."
"Sixth Master, you should be saying ’thank you’."
"I’m not talking about this."
"Then what is Sixth Master talking about?" Sienna deliberately played dumb.
Adrian’s profile was tense. Though he was about to get married, he looked more like he was attending a funeral. A saying suddenly came to her mind: ’Like a prostitute demanding a monument to her chastity.’ It perfectly described people like Adrian, who took advantages yet still played the victim.
"Don’t go out for a while."
He felt uneasy. Sienna seemed too calm, not crying or making a fuss; it was too uncharacteristic of her.
"Alright."
Adrian looked at Sienna, his gaze focused and intense. He took her hand, his index finger gently stroking it. There was so much he wanted to say to her, but he didn’t know where to begin.
...
「At the Desmond Family’s house.」
Sienna only learned after returning that Melanie Carpenter had come back.
Seeing Adrian arrive, the housekeeper, Mr. Lucas, immediately hurried over. "Sixth Master, you’re finally back! Miss Carpenter has been waiting for you."
"What is it?"
Mr. Lucas glanced at Sienna and didn’t continue. Seeing this, Sienna left with Kiki.
The two returned to their room and began sorting through the items they had bought. Kiki, now aware of the situation with Melanie Carpenter, felt indignant on Sienna’s behalf.
"I didn’t expect Miss Carpenter to be so calculating! To think she’d force the Sixth Master to marry her by attempting suicide!"
Compared to Kiki’s righteous anger, Sienna, the one directly involved, was much calmer. "...Melanie is Adrian’s fiancee. Isn’t it normal for him to marry her?"
"Aren’t you upset?"
"What does it matter if I’m upset or not?" Sienna said optimistically. "Actually, Adrian and Melanie’s wedding... for us..." She paused for a moment before continuing, "When the time comes, it will be crowded and chaotic, making it convenient for us to act."
"Yes, I understand." At this point, Kiki no longer tried to persuade her.
"Adrian’s back, so it’s not convenient for me to go. When no one’s paying attention, slip out and check on my ’cat’ for me."
Her ’cat’, of course, referred to Lucas Robertson.
