CHAPTER 98: CHAPTER 098 GOODBYE, ADRIAN DESMOND (1)

Resa glanced at Sienna Johnson’s belly and replied, "Yes, Madam!"

"Kiki, come and accompany me. Nobody else is allowed to disturb me without my permission. I don’t want to see anyone today," Sienna Johnson shouted.

Sienna was in a particularly bad mood today, and everyone understood why—after all, Adrian Desmond was getting married, and the bride was not her.

"Yes," Resa knew Sienna was difficult to deal with, and on this particular day, he naturally didn’t want to offend her.

Although Adrian Desmond was marrying another woman, he hadn’t neglected Sienna. On the contrary, his deep affection for her hadn’t diminished in the slightest; he was even being particularly solicitous, obviously trying to please her.

Kiki accompanied Sienna into the room, where Lucas Robertson was already preparing.

Adrian Desmond must never know that while he was preparing for his wedding with Melanie Carpenter, Sienna Johnson had already escaped.

After closing the door, Kiki’s heart pounded relentlessly. Even though they had meticulously prepared for their departure today, she still felt a knot of apprehension, and Sienna was even more tense. If they failed again this time, Sienna feared she would never escape Adrian Desmond’s clutches.

"Lucas, when do we leave?" Sienna urged.

"Wait." Compared to Kiki and Sienna’s anxiety, Lucas Robertson was remarkably calm and composed. Despite being on Adrian Desmond’s territory, he acted as if he were in his own backyard.

The three of them were silent for a moment. Sienna Johnson’s hand rested on her stomach, gently caressing it. It seemed their unborn child could also sense the impending departure from his father and had been restless all day.

Did he not want to leave his father?

But Sienna had to steel her heart. If before she could bury her head in the sand and pretend not to see, then today, with Adrian Desmond actually marrying another woman, she had to face reality.

She had to leave. Absolutely.

"Madam, I brought you some fruit. Open the door and let me in," Housekeeper Mr. Lucas knocked on Sienna’s door, concerned.

Even at such a busy time, Adrian Desmond had left the competent Housekeeper Mr. Lucas behind, clearly fearing that Sienna Johnson would cause trouble on this day.

"Get lost!" Sienna was extremely irritable today. She grabbed a porcelain decoration and threw it at the door. CRASH! Everything fell silent.

"Mai, what’s wrong with them today? You clearly instructed them not to bother you, so why do they keep coming over to ask?" Kiki asked, puzzled.

Sienna Johnson sneered. "They want to know if I’m still in the room, or if I’ve decided to do something drastic—like Melanie Carpenter did, playing at suicide to stop Adrian Desmond’s wedding. Hmph. Adrian really thinks he’s a prize, doesn’t he? As if every woman is desperate for him. Well, I, for one, don’t care for him!"

At 9:10 a.m., with three hours remaining before the wedding, Adrian Desmond called. The ringing of the phone broke the deathly silence in the room, and Sienna Johnson’s heart skipped a beat. Though she appeared calm on the surface, inwardly, she was more anxious than ever.

"Whose call is it?" Kiki asked.

"Who else could it be?" Sienna remarked. It seemed Adrian was still worried about her, calling personally to check on her situation. She answered the phone, her tone anything but pleasant. "...I’m sleeping! What on earth do you all want?"

"Who upset you again?"

"All of you!"

"..."

"Adrian, call Mr. Lucas and tell them to stop bothering me! I’m fine. I can eat, I can sleep, and I’m certainly not going to do something foolish like kill myself! Tell them not to come knocking on my door every few minutes to see if I’m still alive, alright?" Hearing Sienna’s string of complaints actually reassured Adrian Desmond.

"Okay, I’ll call Mr. Lucas in a bit and tell them not to disturb you." Adrian’s voice was full of doting affection. Even he didn’t realize he was deliberately trying to please Sienna at that moment. "There are a lot of people here today, and I’ve brought most of the bodyguards with me, so please don’t go out."

Ultimately, he still couldn’t quite trust her.

Sienna Johnson was behaving too well, so well that it wasn’t like her at all.

"Okay, I’m not in the mood to go out today. I’ll just stay in my room. Tell them not to bother me."

"Alright."

"Adrian, the wedding must be hectic. Go and deal with it. I want to go back to sleep." Sienna was afraid that saying more would lead to a slip-up, revealing her plans, so she wanted to hang up Adrian Desmond’s call quickly.

"Mai!" Adrian suddenly called out to her.

"What?"

Adrian Desmond had so much he wanted to say to Sienna Johnson. For many years afterward, whenever he thought back to this day, to his last phone call with Sienna, he would wonder what he *should* have said to her. It certainly wouldn’t have been *these* words.

"How’s our son? Has he been bothering you today?"

The only thing that could set his mind at ease now was the child in Sienna’s womb. He eagerly anticipated the arrival of the little one, wondering if it would look more like him or her.

Once a woman had a child, her mind wouldn’t be filled with wild notions.

"He’s fine, very quiet today," Sienna lied, glancing at her own restless stomach.

"...I won’t be able to come back to be with you tonight." Adrian’s voice grew dim. He was accustomed to falling asleep every night holding her soft body, and he was used to greeting his son before bed.

Sienna’s heart ached. Tonight was Adrian Desmond and Melanie Carpenter’s wedding night; of course, he couldn’t come back to be with her.

"A wedding night is precious, I understand."

"Mai, aside from this matter, I’ll go along with whatever you want in the future."

Adrian Desmond would soon find out that there was no future for them.

"Alright."

Someone came to hurry Adrian Desmond, saying an important guest had arrived. He had to hang up. His voice gentle, he told her, "I’ll come to see you first thing tomorrow morning."

"Okay."

By tomorrow morning, she’d be long gone.

"Mai!" Adrian called Sienna one more time. Sienna, growing impatient, said curtly, "What exactly do you want? If you have something to say, can’t you say it all at once?"

"It’s nothing in particular... I just wanted to tell you that I... I love you very much!"

"I love you"—Adrian Desmond rarely said such words. He always felt it was embarrassing for a true man to say such things.

Now, he just wanted to say this to Sienna Johnson. He had to let her know that she was the only woman he loved.

Upon hearing this, Sienna felt no stirring of emotion, only scorn. "Adrian, do you even know what love is? A person has only one heart, and one heart can only love one person. Your heart holds two women. That’s not love!"

"..."

"Goodbye, Adrian!"

Sienna Johnson took this opportunity to bid Adrian Desmond farewell.

This time, their "goodbye" was truly final. They would never see each other again.
