The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 99 - 099: Goodbye, Adrian Desmond (2)
CHAPTER 99: CHAPTER 099: GOODBYE, ADRIAN DESMOND (2)
All preparations were complete; Lucas Robertson was ready to take Sienna Johnson away.
At the exact moment Sienna Johnson departed, Adrian Desmond and Melanie Carpenter’s wedding was commencing. In fact, until this very moment, Sienna had given Adrian chances.
If he gave up marrying Melanie Carpenter, she would stay!
Goodbye, Adrian!
...
The Desmond Family had a secret tunnel leading directly to the National Forest in Abyanabad. The entrance was hidden in Adrian Desmond’s room. Sienna Johnson didn’t care how Lucas found this secret tunnel; all she knew was that this time, she could truly leave.
Permanently leave the man she had once loved but who had failed her.
Perhaps they would never meet again in this lifetime.
"’Mai, let’s go...’ Kiki tugged Sienna Johnson’s arm but noticed she was rooted to the spot."
Sienna Johnson glanced around the room where she had lived for some time. It held traces of her existence, a place she had always longed to escape. Now, on the verge of leaving, a faint sense of reluctance welled within her.
This time, she was truly leaving.
"’We must go now!’ Lucas urged."
"’Yes!’ Sienna Johnson abruptly averted her gaze, not allowing herself to look back; she no longer had that luxury."
Entering the Desmond family’s secret tunnel, Lucas led the way with a flashlight, while Kiki supported Sienna Johnson from behind.
Nervous tension drenched Sienna Johnson’s back in sweat. She constantly felt Adrian Desmond was chasing her, ready to drag her back, lock her in a gilded cage, and let her slowly suffocate.
"’Mai, are you tired? Do you want to take a break?’ Kiki asked, noticing Sienna was drenched in sweat."
"’I’m fine. Let’s keep going,’ Sienna replied."
Although pregnant, Sienna Johnson’s pregnancy was stable. She had maintained a routine of moderate daily exercise, so this short journey didn’t exhaust her; she was merely nervous.
"’I’ve arranged everything. We can definitely get out. Don’t be nervous,’ Lucas said, noticing Sienna’s anxiety and fear, trying to reassure her."
Sienna Johnson smiled. "Yes, I’ve witnessed Mr. Lucas’s capabilities. With you leading the way, Mr. Lucas, I’m sure I can get home."
"’Just call me Lucas.’"
"’Okay, Lucas,’ Sienna readily agreed."
The pitch-dark tunnel seemed endless. Finally, when exhaustion began to take its toll, Sienna panted, "How much longer?"
"’Half an hour.’"
"’How long is this tunnel?’"
"’Almost a kilometer.’"
Sienna Johnson truly admired Adrian Desmond’s ancestors. Were they a clan of rats or something, to dig such a long tunnel?
Lucas suggested a break, but Sienna Johnson refused. Just as they were on the brink of collapse, they finally emerged from the Desmond family’s secret tunnel.
This was the National Forest of Abyanabad. Towering trees blocked the sunlight, and the ground was carpeted with countless layers of dry, fallen leaves.
The air was much fresher. Sienna Johnson took several deep breaths, expelling the stale air from her lungs.
"’What a wonderful place,’ Sienna said."
Lucas glanced at Sienna. "Don’t relax just yet. We haven’t completely escaped Adrian Desmond’s sphere of influence."
"’Understood.’"
"’Let me outline our journey. Today, we’ll take a boat to Cagalanga. From Cagalanga, we’ll head to Sileria City...’"
"’I can’t go back like this,’ Sienna Johnson said suddenly, standing atop a high slope."
"’Why? Haven’t you always wanted to go home?’ Kiki asked, puzzled."
"’I’m afraid Adrian Desmond will find my home. If he ever discovers my true identity, I can never dream of escaping him again.’"
Sienna Johnson gently caressed her stomach. She was already four months pregnant and would give birth in another six months. "Moreover, returning home pregnant would only bring trouble for my father."
"’So, what do you plan to do?’"
"’I’ll find a place to have the baby, then I’ll go home.’"
Kiki had no strong opinions; she would follow Sienna Johnson’s lead. Sienna turned to Lucas. "I saved your life, and you helped me escape, so we’re even. What are your plans?"
Lucas gazed at Sienna. "I’m not sure..."
He had killed Maxwell Bradford, but his fiancee couldn’t be brought back to life. He no longer knew what to live for.
"’If you have nowhere to go, come to Sileria with me.’"
Lucas agreed without hesitation. "Okay."
Sienna Johnson’s heart filled with joy. "Sileria is an incredibly beautiful city. I’m sure you’ll both love it there."
Kiki and Lucas were essentially rootless people; it wouldn’t make much difference to them where they ended up.
"’Mai, if we’re not going back to Sileria now, where are we going?’"
"’My name is Sienna Johnson!’ Sienna declared, her gaze fixed on the lush greenery in the distance. Finally, she could shed the unpleasant name ’Mai’."
She was Sienna Johnson, the Miss of the Johnson family! An Orientan!
"’Yes, Sienna.’ Kiki said her name, finding it pleasant too."
Lucas interrupted them. "We’re still not safe. Abyanabad is Adrian Desmond’s territory. Moreover, he has significant influence throughout Southeast Agaia. We should leave immediately."
"’Do you have anywhere in mind you’d like to go?’ Sienna asked."
Kiki shook her head. Her previous job had been exhausting, with only one day off a week; she hadn’t had the energy for such thoughts.
Lucas was also undecided. "You decide. As long as we don’t stay in Southeast Agaia."
"’Then let’s go to Bonraca.’"
"’Why there?’ Kiki asked."
"’Because you can hunt in Bonraca...’"
Adrian Desmond loved hunting. One of his houses was filled with his trophies: bears, deer, a falcon with a three-meter wingspan, tigers, and more. Of course, this wasn’t the primary reason. The main reason was that Adrian Desmond and a Bonracan mafia boss were enemies. This enemy held significant influence in Bonraca, so it would be perilous for Adrian Desmond to venture there.
Kiki was speechless.
Lucas was speechless.
Does she have any self-awareness as a pregnant woman?!
...
It was already late evening, and the surroundings had dimmed. Sienna Johnson had been holed up in her room all day. Mr. Lucas was still worried, so he came to check.
Resa stood dutifully by the door. Mr. Lucas asked, "Has Madam been inside the entire time? She hasn’t come out, has she?"
"’No,’ Resa replied, her expression unchanging."
Mr. Lucas knocked on the door. "Madam, it’s time for dinner. What would you like to eat? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it."
There was still no response from inside. A flicker of unease crossed Mr. Lucas’s heart. He knocked harder, only to be met with Sienna Johnson’s roar from within, "Get lost! All of you, get lost!"
Although scolded, Mr. Lucas felt a sense of relief. As long as Sienna Johnson was in her room, he could give Adrian Desmond a satisfactory account.
