CHAPTER 10: CHAPTER 10: A SLAP IN THE FACE

"What?!"

Everyone followed the direction the servant was pointing and saw a snake flickering its tongue, hissing.

This snake was different from normal snakes, its head was so large, and its neck was swollen on both sides, looking like it was about to attack at any moment.

The servants immediately dared not continue moving forward, retreating in terror.

"Quick! Run!" The servants retreated one after another, rushing out of the room.

At this moment, Henry Stanton and Stella Monroe arrived.

Seeing this scene, Henry Stanton took two steps back, not daring to move forward.

Stella Monroe, face pale, tremblingly spoke: "What’s going on... Why is there a snake here? Why was someone bitten?! What are you all standing here for, quickly kill that snake!"

The servants looked at each other, no one dared to step forward.

Asking them to deal with what was clearly a poisonous cobra? What a joke!

Only the latecoming nanny saw this scene, her expression colorful and varied.

Isn’t this the snake she put in Summer Monroe’s room? How did it end up here?

Back then, even carrying the transparent box with the snake made her legs tremble. Now she was even more scared to step forward, as she knew all too well how poisonous this snake was.

If the antivenom isn’t administered within an hour, Clarissa Stanton is doomed!

But... she couldn’t tell anyone about it.

Seeing that no one dared to step forward, Stella Monroe could only pull Henry Stanton: "Husband! Quickly go kill that snake!"

But how could Henry Stanton dare to step forward?

Yet, in front of so many people, he didn’t want to lose his authority as the head of the family...

If word got out that his daughter was bitten by a snake and he didn’t dare to step forward, where would his dignity go?

All because of these damned cowardly servants, and Stella Monroe dragging him to take action!

If it weren’t for them, how would he end up in such a dilemma?

Henry Stanton stiffened his scalp, grabbed a broom, and planned to step forward. Just then, a clear voice, tinged with doubt, sounded: "Dad, what are you all doing here in the middle of the night?"

Henry Stanton turned around to see Summer Monroe in pajamas, her hair messy, looking sleepy and not fully awake.

He said somewhat awkwardly: "A snake crawled into the room. Your sister was bitten and passed out, I need to go..."

"That’s not okay!" Summer Monroe’s sleepiness instantly vanished as she grabbed Henry Stanton: "It’s too dangerous! Dad, you can’t go!"

Hearing this, Stella Monroe’s anger rose, raising her right hand, and slapped Summer Monroe across the face—

Summer Monroe could have easily avoided the slap, but she hesitated for 0.1 seconds and decided not to.

Just a crisp "slap—a sound echoed, and the slap landed solidly on Summer Monroe’s face.

Well done!

Summer Monroe’s fair and delicate cheek instantly swelled, leaving five clear finger marks.

After hitting, Stella Monroe opened her mouth to scold: "You little wench! You’re deliberately trying to let your sister die here, aren’t you?! You heartless woman, get out! Butler! Immediately drive her out!"

The nearby butler was at a loss, neither knowing whether to drive her out or not, only to look at Henry Stanton’s reaction.

Before Henry Stanton could speak, Summer Monroe blinked her eyelashes, tears flowing down, saying very aggrieved: "Dad, I’m only worried about your safety. You are the head of the family; if anything happens to you, what would happen to us? I just found my dad and don’t want to lose the closest person!"

These words hit Henry Stanton right in the heart.

Indeed, he was the head of the family, and this whole family depended on him for support!

If anything happened to him, wouldn’t the family be finished?

Sure enough, his treasure daughter understood him!

Henry Stanton furrowed his brows and glared at Stella Monroe.

"What’s the meaning of hitting the child? She is just worried about my safety!"

"But she clearly wants Clarissa to..."

"Aunt!" Summer Monroe interrupted Stella Monroe, saying: "If you’re so determined to suspect me, fine, I will prove it, I definitely don’t want anything to happen to my sister!"

Summer Monroe said, taking the broom from Henry Stanton, and resolutely walked toward the snake.

"Miss, be careful! That snake is very poisonous!" The sympathetic servants warned.

Henry Stanton also hesitated, now compared to Clarissa Stanton, Summer Monroe was his more precious daughter.

"Daughter, don’t go!" Henry Stanton tried to stop her, but Summer Monroe directly bypassed Henry Stanton’s hand and walked towards the snake.

The cobra was clearly enraged, seeing Summer Monroe coming, it lunged straight at her.

Summer Monroe "struggled" to avoid the snake’s attack, quickly turned and swept the snake’s tail with the broom.

The cobra became even angrier, the sound of its tongue flickering more terrifying: "Huff... hiss..."

Everyone was too scared to move, or they hid far away; only Summer Monroe was in the large room wrestling with the cobra.

In everyone’s eyes, Summer Monroe was now a warrior.

An incredibly brave warrior!

Finally, after spending over ten minutes, Summer Monroe, in a mess and "struggling," managed to grab the snake’s head.

"Give me scissors or any knife!"

"I have a knife!" A bold servant came over, handing her a fruit knife.

Summer Monroe quickly took it, closed her eyes, looking terrified yet determined, and used the knife to cut off the snake’s head.

The terrifying cobra was beheaded, and could no longer move.

Only then did Henry Stanton dare to step forward, concernedly asking Summer Monroe: "Daughter! Are you alright?"

Summer Monroe, still showing signs of fear, directly ran into his embrace...

"Dad! I’m so scared..."

"Good girl, don’t be afraid, it’s dead, that snake is completely dead!"

"With you, Dad, I fear nothing... Dad, don’t worry about me, quickly send my sister to the hospital..." Summer Monroe looked up, her expression pitiful yet resolute and tenacious.

Henry Stanton’s heart melted.

To have such a daughter was such a great fortune in his life!

He saw the slap marks on Summer Monroe’s face, his anger flared, glaring fiercely at Stella Monroe: "Look at what you’ve done! She risked her life to protect Clarissa, and you still think she wants to harm Clarissa?"

"I..."

"With your inability to distinguish right from wrong, you’re clearly unfit to manage the household affairs. From now on, I’ll handle all the financial matters myself!"

Stella Monroe’s face suddenly turned white.

"Husband, I just..."

Stella Monroe hurried to defend herself, but Henry Stanton directly interrupted her—

"Shut up! I don’t want to hear it! Starting today, go to your room and reflect, until you don’t do so, you’re not allowed to leave!"

A servant came in to report: "Master, the ambulance has arrived."
