CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: WATCH OUT OR I’LL TEACH YOU A LESSON!
"So, my child," Henry Stanton continued, "once you work together for a while and become familiar, make sure to get a business card for me when you have the chance, okay?"
Summer Monroe chuckled coldly inside, but on the outside, she nodded obediently, "Okay, Dad."
She continued, "Dad, being a spokesperson requires a certain depth. I haven’t read much, so could I possibly use your study to read in the future? I noticed you have many books in there."
Perhaps within them, she’ll find clues to her mother’s cause of death.
Henry Stanton’s study wasn’t open for everyone to enter, so for the past week, she hadn’t found a chance to step inside.
Henry hesitated slightly, then nodded, "You can! But don’t rummage through files or other stuff inside the study."
"Alright, thank you, Dad!" Summer’s sweet smile attracted the gaze of those around her, yet she was oblivious to just how captivating she was.
Henry Stanton sensed those gazes and felt even better.
He really found a treasure!
Not only was she beautiful, but she also had an exceptional skill in coffee art. Truly, the heavens aided him. To not expand the Stanton family would be ungrateful to such divine gifts.
At that moment, Stella Monroe rushed over and said, "Honey, I saw someone take Clarissa away, can you quickly help inquire? I’m afraid she might be in danger..."
Henry then remembered he had another daughter and joined Stella in searching.
Just as they were about to search, Clarissa Stanton returned by herself.
She complained to Henry Stanton, aggrieved and angry, "Dad! Summer had Young Master Knight’s men lock me in a room! She’s a vicious woman! You have to stand up for me and punish her!"
Henry Stanton’s face instantly darkened, he lowered his voice sternly, "What nonsense?! Speak with respect, or I’ll teach you a lesson!"
Clarissa Stanton was startled, instinctively covering her face where she’d been slapped before.
The last time she got hit, it took three days of icing before the swelling went down, and the tooth that got knocked out still hasn’t been fixed.
Clarissa Stanton backed away two steps, unable to understand why it was Summer’s fault, yet her dad was yelling at her.
Henry continued scolding, "Respect the hierarchy, don’t you understand this principle? Never speak ill of your sister like that again, or I’ll not let it go!"
"Mom..." Clarissa’s eyes filled with tears, her whole body trembling.
Stella held her shoulders steady, saying, "Quick, congratulate your sister."
Clarissa tried to calm herself, unable to force a smile, she stiffly said, "Congratulations, sister..."
Summer smirked slightly, her eyes smiling, "Thank you, sister. If it weren’t for you giving me this chance, I couldn’t have seamlessly gotten the Midnight Coffee House endorsement. Thank you, sister, you’re really my good sister."
"You..." Clarissa took a deep breath in anger, yet somehow couldn’t exhale.
The breath only went in, not out, Clarissa felt her vision darken, if not for Stella pinching her philtrum in time, she nearly fainted publicly again.
"Summer!" Stella, seeing Clarissa had recovered, glared at Summer indignantly, "Because of you, your sister lost the spokesperson opportunity, so stop provoking her!"
Summer apologized innocently, "Sorry, I didn’t mean to provoke her... Sister, are you alright?"
