CHAPTER 306: CHAPTER 306: WHAT COMES TO YOU, YOU NEVER REFUSE

Henry Stanton said, "Originally, since she’s getting old, I didn’t plan to tell her, to avoid her grief of burying a younger person. But the news couldn’t be kept, and now she’s insisting I pick her up. I figured since you’re at home and have nothing to do, and haven’t seen her for years, you might as well come with me."

Henry Stanton’s tone didn’t suggest a request, leaving Summer Monroe no room to decline, so she simply agreed cheerfully, "Okay, then I’ll change clothes and come downstairs."

"Alright, I’ll wait for you downstairs. Bring an extra set of clothes; it’s quite remote there, so we’ll probably stay overnight before returning."

"Got it," Summer replied, watching Henry Stanton leave the room.

After ensuring that Henry Stanton had left, she reopened the firewall page.

The page indicated that, during the day, no one had attempted to breach her computer.

It seemed the other party was indeed patient, or perhaps they had forgotten about her?

Summer leaned towards the former hypothesis.

She didn’t hurry to pack but instead reinforced the firewall once more, connected her phone, and then got up to tidy her things and headed downstairs.

Downstairs, Henry Stanton was already waiting impatiently. Seeing Summer arrive late, he couldn’t help but frown and complain, "Why so slow?"

Summer opened her backpack showing Henry Stanton, smiling, "I thought since it’s overnight, I’d pack a bit more."

Henry Stanton looked down to see the backpack filled with random girl essentials, looking every part like a young girl’s travelbag.

If it were Clarissa Stanton, Henry Stanton would likely have yelled at her, but with Summer... the more naive she was, the more relieved he felt.

Only simple and naive girls are easily controlled.

Henry Stanton gazed at the messy pile in the bag, and his expression unintentionally softened.

Perhaps his concern about Summer was unnecessary?

Yes, a girl growing up in the countryside, having lost childhood memories, what ill intentions could she harbor?

No matter how smart she was, she’s merely a clever young girl.

Henry Stanton turned his gaze, "If you’re packed, let’s set off. We need to arrive before dark; the road there isn’t easy to drive."

"Alright, Dad." Summer didn’t dawdle, promptly got into the car with her bags.

On the road, the car was unusually quiet.

Suddenly, Summer’s phone chimed.

She glanced at it; a message from Damian Knight: "Taking off soon."

Summer thought for a moment, replied with four words, "Safe travels."

Just after she replied, Henry Stanton sitting to her left asked, "Whose message?"

Summer answered truthfully, "Damian Knight’s. He’s leaving for Europe on a business trip."

Henry Stanton’s brow furrowed immediately, asking, "Young Master Knight...the son-in-law going on a business trip, why didn’t he take you? Did he mention taking you along?"

Summer shook her head, "No, it seemed urgent, with the ticket booked last minute."

Henry Stanton showed a disappointed expression, saying, "In the future, whenever your husband goes on a business trip, as a wife, you must go with him. With his status and wealth, countless young women will try to seduce him. Those crafty ladies have many tricks, and men... rarely do they refuse what’s offered. You need to be especially cautious, understand?"

Listening to these words made Summer uncomfortable; she restrained her inner displeasure, smiling and nodding, "Understood, Dad."
