CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 74: HE HAS NO SELFISH MOTIVES

After a long moment, Summer Monroe finally spoke: "Thank you... I’ll be direct. It’s not the right time for me to consider these things. I have a lot to do, so I can only say, I’m sorry."

Julian Kingston’s eyes dimmed, his whole demeanor like a deflated balloon.

But Julian quickly adjusted his mood, forced a smile, and said: "It’s okay, I know I spoke too suddenly. Can we at least be friends? I won’t tell anyone we met abroad. Today is our first day meeting."

"I..." Summer hesitated for a moment, then resolutely said: "I actually... am not in a position to make friends right now. But thank you so much..."

Julian asked in confusion, "What exactly are you doing? Hiding your identity, can’t date, and not even able to make friends?"

Summer lowered her gaze, "It’s my personal business..."

Julian sensed Summer’s sudden somber mood and quickly apologized, "Sorry, I overstepped, shouldn’t have asked so much. But, Miss Monroe, if you ever need anything, contact me anytime. Whatever it is, I can help you."

"Thank you." Summer lifted a smile.

Meanwhile, Damian Knight was agitated when suddenly Isaac Ross’s call came through.

"Damian, we’ve captured one of the people who were pursuing you abroad."

Damian raised an eyebrow and asked, "Where are they?"

"In my car, I just brought them over. Estimated to reach Crestfall in half an hour. This guy’s been drifting on the sea for over half a month and is mentally a bit unstable."

"Understood." Damian paused and said, "Send him to Aiden’s house. I’ll meet with him there."

"Alright."

The call disconnected, and Damian vibrantly called Julian Kingston.

Julian had finally gotten Summer to open up and talk about things abroad when Damian’s call came in, interrupting their conversation.

He hung up directly, intending to continue the conversation, but his phone rang again, still Damian’s number.

Julian felt instantly annoyed.

Damian’s been single since birth, why ruin my romantic prospects?

He gave Summer an apologetic smile and said, "Sorry, I need to take this call."

"It’s fine."

Julian then got up, walked to the window to answer the call, and spoke in a disgruntled tone: "Damian, what do you need that can’t wait..."

"Where are you?"

"I’m at the Italian restaurant across from the mall where I live. What’s up?"

"We’ve captured the people chasing us, they’re being sent to your house. Come over immediately!"

Julian was taken aback, "Aren’t these things usually handled at your Valeridge residence?"

"It’s inconvenient there now, come over quickly!" Damian’s tone was extremely urgent.

Julian hesitated and said, "But I’m still having dinner..."

Before he could finish speaking, Damian had already hung up.

"Damn..." Julian cursed softly.

He turned around to see Summer already holding her bag and waiting behind him.

"You..."

Summer interrupted Julian, saying, "You go ahead, you don’t need to worry about me."

Julian quickly said, "Let me at least send you back..."

"No need." Summer declined, "I saw there’s a mall across the street. I might as well go shopping, buy some clothes."

Stella Monroe had given her a task yesterday to spruce up, and since Stella couldn’t buy clothes for her right now, she decided to go shopping across the street before heading back.

"You’re going to the mall across the street?"

"Yes." Summer nodded, and Julian gave a meaningful smile, saying, "Alright, take your time shopping, contact me if you need anything."

"Okay." Summer didn’t understand why Julian was smiling, she responded politely and didn’t take Julian’s words to heart.

She wasn’t the type to trouble others when she went out.

The two went downstairs together, and as Julian was about to send Summer into the mall before leaving, a black business car stopped in front of them.

The window rolled down, revealing Damian Knight’s sharply defined and handsome face.
