CHAPTER 76: CHAPTER 76: I’LL TAKE THIS OUTFIT

The sales assistant originally closely following behind Summer Monroe stopped paying attention to her upon hearing the noise and immediately walked over to the entrance with a fawning attitude.

"Miss Hughes! You’re here? We’ve kept the clothes for you. The new arrivals just came in today and haven’t even been displayed yet. Please have a seat and wait a moment, I’ll go get the merchandise for you to choose from slowly."

"Alright, hurry up a bit, I have an afternoon tea appointment with friends later on."

"Very quickly!"

Summer Monroe listened to their conversation and felt the voices sounded a bit familiar, like she had heard them somewhere before.

Instinctively, she looked in the direction of the voices...

Summer Monroe only saw a girl with a perfect makeup wearing a stylish Chanel-inspired outfit, sitting arrogantly with her legs crossed, sipping tea handed over by the assistant.

And next to her, her companion was casually playing with her nails, looking equally disdainful.

Summer Monroe immediately recognized her; wasn’t this Coralie Hughes, the one who once set her dog to bite Summer?

She’d heard gossip from the servants that Coralie Hughes was engaged to one of The Four Noble Heirs of Crestfall. It’s best to avoid cross paths with people like them.

If others don’t provoke her, she wouldn’t complicate things when searching for the truth about her mother’s death.

Summer Monroe quickly looked away and focused on choosing clothes.

Coincidentally, she spotted a blue short sleeve that looked quite stylish.

Summer Monroe picked it up directly and headed for the cashier.

Feature’s clothing is all one size, so Summer can wear them without needing to try them on.

However, just a few steps in, the sales assistant returning with the goods noticed Summer Monroe casually holding a garment, and her eyes widened like saucers.

"What are you doing?! Stealing clothes? Just so you know, there are surveillance cameras all over this store!"

As she spoke, the assistant snatched the clothes away.

Summer Monroe didn’t expect the assistant to assume she was stealing. Despite her usual patience, she couldn’t tolerate this.

Her face turned cold as she replied, "I was going to pay."

The assistant laughed mockingly, clearly not believing her, and said, "You? Pay? Didn’t you see the tag? This shirt costs over thirty thousand!"

"So what? Does the price tag prohibit me from buying it?" Summer’s gaze was icy like a blade.

The assistant’s heart skipped a beat at Summer’s unusually cold gaze...

She examined Summer more closely and noticed that although Summer was dressed plainly, she had an aura of grace.

Such composure isn’t common.

Could it be... she had offended a low-key major client?

The assistant was frightened into silence.

Just then, Coralie Hughes walked over.

"What’s going on here? Where’s my new clothes?"

The assistant snapped out of it and explained, "No... there was a misunderstanding."

She continued, uncertainly asking Summer, "Are you really going to pay?"

Summer’s brow furrowed, "What else? Do you think I’d steal your clothes in front of all these cameras?"

The assistant swallowed hard, "Well, then please..."

But just then, Coralie suddenly spoke, "It’s you?"

Summer Monroe looked up, meeting Coralie’s startled gaze.

She nodded calmly, "Yes, Miss Hughes, long time no see."

Coralie’s face immediately grew playful and she taunted, "Who would’ve thought the grand Miss Stanton would be mistaken for a thief... Tsk tsk, if anyone found out, wouldn’t they laugh their heads off? But you’re just some country girl getting misunderstood, it’s normal. Let me buy this shirt for you. Assistant, bill this shirt to me."

The assistant, observant, realizing Summer’s identity was indeed unusual, and also noting Coralie’s hostility towards Summer, jumped in with a flattering smile, "Miss Hughes is certainly generous. Miss, shall I wrap the clothes for you?"

Summer didn’t want to acknowledge Coralie’s sarcastic remarks, and replied emotionlessly, "No need, I can pay for it myself."

Due to Ryder’s previous words, Coralie felt deep hatred for Summer.

Seeing that Summer wasn’t giving her any respect, Coralie dropped the act and said coldly, "I changed my mind, I want this shirt."
