The Billionaire CEO Wants to Marry Me Every Day
Chapter 9: Aiming for Her Life
CHAPTER 9: CHAPTER 9: AIMING FOR HER LIFE
Summer simply got up from bed, but she didn’t turn on the light. Instead, she used her phone as a flashlight, carefully searching every corner of the room for clues.
"Hiss—"
Suddenly, she heard a strange sound, like someone inhaling quickly.
Summer precisely located the direction the sound was coming from and discovered it came from beside her bed, just about a meter away from her feet!
What was that?!
Summer quickly turned her phone’s flashlight to its brightest setting and shone it over there.
She saw a cobra flicking its tongue.
The snake seemed to have been watching her for a while, with half of its body erect, its green eyes like ghosts fixated on her.
If she hadn’t heard the sound and gotten up, she would now be lying motionless on her bed.
At that moment, the cobra attacked; its tail thrust forcefully, aiming directly at her neck as it darted toward her!
Summer, trained to react swiftly, quickly rolled sideways to avoid the cobra’s attack.
Then she quickly got up, grabbed the cobra’s tail, and with a powerful swing of her right hand, slammed the snake to the ground.
The snake was knocked unconscious by her hit.
Summer got up, grabbed the scissors hidden under her pillow for emergencies, and walked over to cut off the cobra’s head.
But just as the scissors were about to touch the cobra, Summer suddenly realized that this was a type of cobra found in the south, which shouldn’t exist in the north.
This snake didn’t crawl into her room by itself; someone had deliberately put it here!
Summer recalled the footsteps she heard; at this moment, everything came together, and she finally understood what the person who stood on her balcony for just a moment was there to do.
These people wanted her dead!
Summer’s mind was working fast.
Henry Stanton currently saw her as very valuable, a way to attach to the Knight Family, showering her with affection, so it was absolutely impossible for him to do such a thing.
The only possible ones were Stella and Clarissa Stanton.
However, Stella is very calm and smart, unlikely to do such a thing on the first night she returned. The most likely person to do this is Clarissa Stanton.
Thinking of this, Summer’s eyes slowly narrowed, light from the moon reflecting a cool, moon-like hue in her gaze.
Want to kill her?
Clarissa Stanton better weigh her own capabilities first!
The night deepens, and the moon drifts westward.
Almost everyone in the villa had fallen asleep, and at one o’clock in the morning, people were in the deepest stage of sleep.
Clarissa Stanton couldn’t sleep at all in her room.
She was waiting, waiting for the news of Summer’s death.
But after waiting for several hours, she still hadn’t received the "good news."
Finally, Clarissa Stanton couldn’t sit still anymore. She called her nanny, who quickly sneaked into her room.
Clarissa Stanton immediately questioned: "Didn’t you do what you were supposed to?! Tomorrow morning, you can expect the police at your door!"
The nanny quickly explained: "Miss, you’ve misunderstood me! I’ve already done it. I bought the most poisonous snake available in the market and put it in her room two hours ago."
Clarissa Stanton frowned and asked: "Then why isn’t there any news yet? If she got bitten by the snake, she’d definitely wake up from the pain. Our rooms are so close; two balconies apart, but I didn’t hear any screams at all."
"Well... I don’t know."
"Could it be that the snake doesn’t bite?"
The nanny immediately denied: "Impossible, the seller picked a snake that hadn’t eaten in days and was very aggressive. If it saw something alive, it would definitely bite."
Clarissa Stanton was confused: "Then what on earth happened?"
The nanny thought for a moment and speculated: "The snake seller said that the snake was highly poisonous, and without treatment, a person wouldn’t survive long. Maybe... it wasn’t that the snake didn’t bite her, but by the time she reacted, she was already..."
Clarissa Stanton’s eyes lit up as she finished the nanny’s sentence: "Maybe she’s already dead!"
The nanny carefully asked, watching Clarissa Stanton’s face: "So, miss, should I find an excuse to go in and check?"
"No need." Clarissa Stanton waved her hand and said: "We need to do this silently. If you go now, you’ll arouse suspicion. Anyway, she’s already dead, collecting the body tomorrow morning is safer. What if she’s sent for rescue now and ends up surviving?"
The nanny nodded in agreement: "Miss is right, we’ll wait until tomorrow morning to collect the body! By then, she’ll already be cold, and not even the best doctor, let alone a deity, can save her."
Clarissa Stanton couldn’t suppress a smile, casually removing her necklace and handing it to the nanny.
"You’ve done well. This is your reward. If you need anything else in the future, just let me know."
"Thank you, miss!" The fear of committing murder had been entirely replaced by the allure of the necklace.
After all, she wasn’t the one killing; it was the snake. When she reaches the underworld, the King of Hell won’t trouble her for that.
"Alright, go back; I need a good night’s sleep."
After a night’s sleep, she could collect her dear sister’s body and weep at her funeral.
If she performed the crying scene well enough, people might even think she was very empathetic.
She still wanted to enter the entertainment industry; good performances like these would help her gain fans and points.
This night was simply wonderful...
Clarissa Stanton turned off the lights and lay back in bed; even as she fell asleep, the curve of her lips remained.
With a good mood, and given the late hour, the previously sleepless Clarissa Stanton quickly drifted off, having a beautiful dream.
In her dream, she was at an award ceremony, where Damian Knight, acknowledging her talent, fell in love with her at first sight, then proclaimed in front of everyone that she would be the future mistress of the Knight Family, his wife!
From then on, she reached the pinnacle of life, living the luxurious life of a wealthy lady.
However, in her dream, Clarissa Stanton didn’t notice a shadow quietly approaching her balcony...
As the deep night passed, dawn was about to break.
In the utter silence, suddenly—
"Ah!!!"
A terrifying scream shattered the stillness, piercing the sky.
The birds perched on several large trees in the manor were startled, flapping their wings and flying away from the treetops.
"What happened?"
"What’s going on?"
"I don’t know, I just heard a scream, someone yelling for help..."
"Quick! It seems to be from the second miss’s room!"
The servants, woken up, quickly traced the source of the sound and rushed to Clarissa Stanton’s room.
Clarissa Stanton hadn’t locked her room door, allowing the servants to open it and rush inside.
There they found Clarissa Stanton collapsed beside her bed, convulsing, with foam coming out of her mouth and her face turned a livid purple, looking as if she was about to die.
The servants were stunned.
"What... happened?"
Realizing the situation, they were about to rush to help her.
"Wait! Don’t go over there yet!" one servant exclaimed in terror, "There’s a snake on the bed!"
