The Billionaire's Hidden Affection
Chapter 300 Duet 1_1
CHAPTER 300: CHAPTER 300 DUET 1_1
Yan Xixi stopped at the entrance of the store.
"Xiaoya, your business is thriving, really making money..."
"Xiaoya, you’re truly prosperous! Look, so many employees! This shop is even more magnificent than the last time I saw it. And look, are these mahogany chairs? So classy! It’s decorated like a palace. My daughter is so accomplished! We’re very proud of her..."
"Wow, you’ve even gotten new uniforms! They’re beautiful and really show off your figures..."
Yan Xixi quietly stepped aside. The voices were loud, and she could hear everything clearly.
But Xu Xiaoya’s parents, brother, and sister-in-law surrounded her, fawning over her as if she were a celebrity. They gestured animatedly, pointing at the shop assistants and the decor, acting as if the true owners had arrived to inspect their domain.
This group was loud and ostentatious, causing some customers to frown and glance sideways in annoyance.
Xu Xiaoya’s face paled and flushed. "Please, let’s talk in my office," she urged.
Her brother was nonchalant. "Sis, let’s take a look around first..."
She was impatient. "Don’t disturb the customers. Go to my office first."
She turned and walked away, and her family had no choice but to follow.
Once everyone was in the office and she had closed the door, her expression was no longer friendly. "Alright, what do you want?"
Her brother cleared his throat and glanced at their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Xu exchanged a look, and it was Mrs. Xu who spoke first. "Xiaoya, look, your shop is doing so well. You must need more staff, right? Your sister-in-law, Miaomiao, was thinking she’d like to work here..."
Her brother quickly added, "Sis, isn’t the pay here pretty good? You’re hiring anyway, so why not let Miaomiao help you out?"
Xu Xiaoya said, struggling to maintain her patience, "We don’t have any hiring plans at the moment."
Her brother was unfazed. "You’re the manager. Hiring someone is just a word from you, isn’t it?"
Her father also chimed in. "Why hire outsiders instead of your own family? At worst, just fire someone to make room for Miaomiao. This is such a large shop with so many employees; can you really manage it all by yourself? With family helping, you’ll have more support and won’t have to worry about others scheming against you. As the saying goes, ’When hunting a tiger, you need your brothers.’ With Miaomiao helping, you can rest easier. Besides, any benefit stays within the family."
Xu Xiaoya almost wanted to bite her tongue off.
It was all because she had gone home for the New Year and carelessly blurted out that she’d bought a house. She had initially said it just to reassure her parents, but her brother and sister-in-law had latched onto it. They figured their eldest sister must be raking it in, having bought a house outright with cash in just six months—that was serious money! So, naturally, they had immediately shown up to freeload.
Seeing her silence, her brother pressed, "Sis, you hire strangers, so why can’t you help out your own sister-in-law? She works as a cashier in a supermarket, eight or nine hours a day, exhausting herself for just over two thousand a month. Can’t you lend a hand to your own flesh and blood?"
"Don’t you have a shop at home?"
"That little place is just a general store. It barely makes any money in a month. Mom can manage it by herself. Miaomiao isn’t needed there. Besides, what successful boss doesn’t help out their own family? When there are benefits, everyone should share. That way, when you need help in the future, someone will be there for you."
Xu Xiaoya, still trying to remain patient, explained, "Every employee here has signed an employment contract. We can’t just fire people casually, as we’d have to pay them significant compensation. We genuinely don’t have any job openings right now."
