CHAPTER 79: CHAPTER 76 I’M NOT YOUR EMPLOYEE
"Call me Qi Longbing, Bing, or Ah Bing," he returned, offering her a devastatingly charming smile.
Hua Xiaomo’s lips twitched. "There’s no one else around... is this necessary?"
"Heh..." Qi Longbing chuckled, stood up from his chair, and walked over to the window with a cup of coffee in hand. "Is even a simple address so difficult for you? How will you manage to act normally in front of others then?"
"Qi Longbing..." Hua Xiaomo tried. Alright, when it came to saying just one word, she was more accustomed to saying three.
"That’s more like it. Be good..." Qi Longbing sipped his coffee, his eyes shining with a dazzling brilliance, yet his gaze didn’t fall on her. Instead, it was directed towards the cityscape stretching out below, a view dominated by the Empire Building...
"Ugh..." Hua Xiaomo rolled her eyes. She looked at the two stacks of documents piled on his desk, then glanced at his sleek, jade-like profile. It seemed he truly enjoyed looking out over the world from his office’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
Does looking at it like that give him a sense of achievement and conquest?
Alright, you just keep looking then. Hua Xiaomo took a couple of small steps back, intending to leave.
Just then, a clear, magnetic voice floated through the air. "Don’t go to McDonald’s. If you want a real job, stay by my side. Start by going through those documents on the desk."
"..." Hua Xiaomo froze, her feet rooted to the spot. Looking at the documents on his desk, her brow furrowed immediately.
What does he mean, ’if you want a real job, stay by his side’? And I have to look at that messy pile of documents?
"I... I don’t understand..." Hua Xiaomo said with an awkward smile. Seeing that he was still admiring the view, showing no sign of turning around, she was preparing to slip away.
"If you don’t understand, then learn." Qi Longbing turned his head, smiling, then picked up a document from the desk and tossed it towards her.
THWACK. Thankfully, Hua Xiaomo caught it quickly, or the document would have hit the floor.
Qi Longbing watched her, a hint of amusement in his expression. "One isn’t enough. There’s this one, and this one." Then, WHOOSH, WHOOSH, WHOOSH, he sent them flying towards her as if throwing darts.
Hua Xiaomo scrambled to catch one after another.
"You need to look at this one too!" Qi Longbing said, tossing another one her way.
Hua Xiaomo was genuinely irritated now. For the last document, she simply ducked, letting it THWACK onto the floor.
"President Qi, I’m not your employee! Why are you making me look at these?" Hua Xiaomo snapped, then, forcing a smile, placed the documents she was holding onto the corner of his desk.
These are probably all his work, right? What right does he have to make me look at them!?
Even if he, as the president, doesn’t want to do it himself, doesn’t he know he can just order a secretary or an assistant to do it? Making *me* look? He’s nuts!
"Is Miss Hua’s IQ and EQ really that low? For you to be my secretary, do I need to spell it out any clearer?" Qi Longbing looked at her, his voice deepening.
He felt like splashing the coffee in his hand directly onto her face to wash away her foolishness.
What? Secretary? Become *his* secretary? NO! NO!
Hua Xiaomo quickly protested in her heart. "President Qi, I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I’ll have to decline your kind offer. I’m naturally slow-witted and not cut out to be a secretary."
"Or would you prefer to go back to McDonald’s, doing hard labor and waiting on people?" Qi Longbing’s tone took on a strange lilt. Is this woman just a glutton for punishment?
His words were harsh, but she didn’t believe there was anything inherently noble or base about earning a living through honest work.
"Yes, those manual labor jobs suit me better!" Hua Xiaomo said with a smile, suppressing her true feelings.
