CHAPTER 647: CHAPTER 136: LAST NIGHT YOU SAID YOU WANTED A DIVORCE BECAUSE OF THAT MAN

Gu Linyuan quietly looked at Song Qiao’s smiling face, feeling an increasingly intense discomfort inside. It took him a while to utter a sound of acknowledgement before sitting down on the chair beside the hospital bed.

They hadn’t had a proper conversation since breaking up. Now, the two were in the most awkward position of ex-boyfriends and girlfriends. At that moment, Song Qiao felt especially awkward sitting there with Gu Linyuan, at a loss for what to say.

When Gu Linyuan had betrayed her and broken up with her, Song Qiao had hated him, even contemplating revenge. But as time passed, she discovered that letting go of the relationship wasn’t easy to say nor difficult to do.

Like now, with Gu Linyuan sitting in front of her, she found she could face him with composure.

After a long silence between them, it was Song Qiao who finally broke it, asking with a smile, "By the way, how have you been lately?"

Gu Linyuan’s deep eyes kept fixed on Song Qiao, but upon hearing her, he averted his gaze to the white bedsheet, chuckled softly, and asked, "Qiaoqiao, haven’t you been watching the news lately?"

Song Qiao was taken aback and did not immediately grasp the meaning behind Gu Linyuan’s question. She shook her head subconsciously and said with a smile, "You know I don’t really like watching the news."

Hearing Song Qiao’s response, Gu Linyuan looked up at her slightly smiling face, seemingly relieved, and swiftly changed the subject, getting straight to the point, "Is he good to you?"

The ’he’ Gu Linyuan referred to was Lu Jingchen.

Song Qiao understood and, although slightly startled, still smiled and nodded, "He’s very good to me."

"Qiaoqiao, you’re lying to me." Gu Linyuan didn’t believe her, his piercing gaze scrutinizing her inch by inch as if casting a wide net from which she couldn’t escape. His lips were a bit pale, possibly from not drinking water for a while, as he affirmed in a low tone, "If he were good to you, how could he let another woman hurt you? Qiaoqiao, he’s not good to you at all, is he?"

The curtains in the sickroom were drawn, letting in the bright sunlight, which bathed the floor in light and shone upon Gu Linyuan. In his dark eyes was a clear reflection of Song Qiao’s surprised expression, as if she was the only person in his entire world.

For a moment, Song Qiao couldn’t understand why Gu Linyuan was so sure that Lu Jingchen wasn’t good to her. His certainty and tone made her momentarily confused, unclear whether Lu Jingchen was truly good or bad to her.

She was always a person easily moved by affection, always ready to give her heart to someone who treated her slightly well, especially if she had a fondness for that person.

If Lu Jingchen had been bad to her from the start, she would have blocked him out of her world without hesitation.

But it was because his attitude towards her had never been clear from the beginning. Sometimes he was infuriatingly bad, but then at times he would be tender and nice to her, making it impossible for her to resist sinking into those feelings.

For her, Lu Jingchen was like the deity who descended from the heavens to save her at her lowest point. Regardless of the initial motives, his care for her during this time was genuine.

"He really is good to me most of the time," Song Qiao said with a faint smile. As she spoke, she tidied the hair in front of her behind her ears, her eyes and brows peaceful, and her voice soft, making it very comfortable to listen to, "That incident was an accident; he didn’t know it was me. Zuo Yuqing has a good relationship with him, after all, they knew each other from before, and him being anxious for her is just human nature..."

"No need to explain." Gu Linyuan cut her off, his eyes carrying a hint of hurt, his tone indifferent yet with an undercurrent of helplessness, "You’ve always been like this, even if he’s not good to you, you’d say he is. Qiaoqiao, I know what you think, but I can only tell you, if he really isn’t good to you, I will win you back. Your refusal is your business, my pursuing you is mine..."
