CHAPTER 120: FOREVER WITH YOU PART ONE

Draped in a bathrobe, Maya’s hopeful eyes stare deep into the mirror, and the certainty of her future with Dalton clutches her stomach. One week had passed, and soon it was her wedding day. She is getting married! A year ago, her life was a haze of nightmares. She had just recovered from a traumatic head injury and was working tirelessly like a horse while being tormented by her stepfather, and half-siblings. A year later, her tormenters are dead, she is healthy, working on her own terms, and she will have forever with the most handsome and powerful man in the world. And all this happiness she’s experiencing slipped into her life when fate made her cross paths with Dalton. She will forever love him and be grateful to him for turning her world from a dark abyss into a light of bliss.

She smiles at her rosy cheeks in the mirror; happiness is so evident in her face. An A-list hairstylist and make-up artist is getting her hair and face done.

"Wow!" Maya hears Haven’s voice at the doorway. Behind her is Laura.

Maya’s eyes sparkle as she sees her bridesmaids’ reflection in the mirror: "You guys look stunningly gorgeous." Maya’s gaze roams over the bridesmaids’ dresses they are wearing.

"Not as beautiful as you, Maya," Laura remarks, following Haven’s lead, sitting on the foot of the bed. "We love your wedding dress; it’s so pretty!" she adds.

"I’m a fashion genius!" Haven boasts. Maya would have picked the wrong wedding dress if Haven hadn’t been present.

Maya shakes her head in the mirror at Haven; She is good at everything she wouldn’t be surprised if Haven were actually their wedding planner.

Laura and Haven kept Maya company, engaging her in light conversations as they watched the hairstylist and makeup artist work their magic on her.

A short while later, Maya’s makeup and hair were done, and she was helped as she slipped into her beautiful wedding dress.

Maya looks at herself in the mirror - she looks unearthly, like a goddess. Her wedding dress features a seductively wide V-neck and feminine lace, decorated with luxurious embroidery along its entire length. The fitted skirt on her hips widens with layers of beaded lace. The magnificent back neckline reveals Maya’s back and flows into a spectacular train.

"Oh my God," Laura and Haven gasp in unison,

"You look like a dream!" Laura exclaims.

Maya turns to look at them, "I know, right!? She giggles excitedly. Maya thanks the hairstylist and make-up artist for their magic work on her, as they bid her goodbye, giving her privacy to admire her wedding gown alone with her friends.

Maya spins around, doing a 360, "I’m like a goddess descending from the heavens!" She jokes.

"Oh hail to the goddess of beauty; we bow to you, queen," Haven cheers, bowing her head with hands stretched in front of her, jerking her hands and head in unison.

"Oh, we mere mortals do not deserve to gaze upon you," Laura joins in the fun.

Maya cannot contain her laughter, her tummy tingle in anticipation of seeing Dalton’s reaction when he sets eyes on her.

Her bridesmaids hug her from both sides, "Aww, I’m so happy; I could cry if it doesn’t ruin my make-up," Laura says emotionally, her voice slightly strained.

Maya rubs Laura’s forearm, saying, "We are all so happy. I’m getting married, you will get married soon, and Haven escaped an awful arranged marriage. Our lives will be good, guys." They laugh with hope, hugging each other tighter.

Then, Maya remembers Natalia, her cheerful spirit dampened. She wishes Natalia were here to experience this joyous moment in her life, but Natalia chose to cut ties with her. Maya looks in the mirror and sees the cheerful faces of Laura and Haven, realizing her real friends were by her side, and Natalia’s existence disappears from her mind as she smiles.

A knock comes at the door, interrupting their little moments. "Maya," it’s Nana Rose.

"Oh my dear, look at you, you are such a beautiful bride!" Nana Rose hugs Maya, like a mother would hug a daughter.

"We will wait for you in the car," Laura and Haven take their leave.

Nana breaks the hug and takes Maya’s hand in hers, "Thank you for coming into Dalton’s life. I had thought my godson might end up alone in that big house in the middle of nowhere. But fate had different plans, you magically appeared in his life and changed it for the better, bringing much happiness. " Her eyes glistened with tears as she hugged Maya again.

Maya was at a loss for words. She wished she could explain to Nana Rose in detail how Dalton had changed her life too, and he was also the reason for the current happiness, stability, and harmony in her life. But she knew that if she uttered a word, tears would stream down her face, ruining her makeup. She finally managed to utter a few words: "I promise to make your godson happy forever."

Nana Rose smiled, believing her."I trust you on that. You are already doing that, making him happy by marrying him." She gave Maya one last hug and then left.

Shortly after, Aiden arrived. "Are you ready?" he asked, offering his arm. "You look so beautiful. Dalton will pop his eyes out when he sees you."

Maya laughed.

Aiden scratched the back of his head, "I’m supposed to give a heartfelt speech as the best man. All I can say is that I’m happy you’re in Dalton’s life. You’re all he needs." Maya could only smile, pulling Aiden into an embrace, "I promise to make him even happier," she said, repeating the words she told Nana Rose.

"I know, and he will make you the happiest woman." Aiden smiled back. "Dalton is waiting at the altar. We have to go."

Maya’s heart thumped with excitement as they walked out the door and into the car, driving to the wedding location
