CHAPTER 143: A SHOCKING THING IN THE SPA ROOM AND RESTAURANT WASHROOM
Maya didn’t know how long she sat on the floor of Vico’s study, weeping over her mother. Finally, the last tear dropped, and she wiped away the traces of devastation from her eyes and cheeks.
She left the study and chose not to return to her room because she decided to seek solace in the spa room they had in the mansion. It was 1 AM, and it was always vacant, so there would be no one to disturb her except for her bodyguard, who was always trailing behind her. She halted before stepping into the threshold.
"There are cameras and detectors in the spa room, so there’s no need to follow me in. Stay here and keep watch," she ordered the bodyguard, and she complied.
Maya stepped further into the spa room and heard loud, scandalous moaning. She looked toward the hot tub and realized that a sexual encounter was taking place in there.
Feeling embarrassed, she wanted to leave immediately to give the couple some privacy, but she accidentally noticed that the woman had red hair. This prompted her to look at the man, and she recognized him immediately.
"Marcello." She glanced at the red-haired woman again. "Natalia," Maya said, clamping her fingers over her lips. Marcello and Natalia turned their heads in her direction.
"Maya!" Marcello exclaimed as he pushed Natalia off him and quickly stepped out of the hot tub, completely naked. Maya turned around quickly to avoid seeing his dick
"I need to speak to you, Natalia. I’ll wait for you on the patio." Maya said, then walked out, leaving them to get dressed.
~~~
Minutes later, Natalia appeared, chin held high as ever, her eyes full of arrogance.
"I’m here. What do you want, cousin? How are you going to confront me for sleeping with your fiancé?"
Maya rolled her eyes. "Please, you know I don’t care who that moron sleeps with, but I just realized that Marcello is the man you have been in love with practically your whole life."
Maya’s lips curled into a disappointed expression. "You have terrible taste in men."
Anger flashed across Natalia’s face. "Marcello is a mile better than that husband of yours."
Maya snorted. "At least I’m the only woman he loves, and he didn’t date my cousin’s half-sister to hurt me," she shot back at Natalia.
Natalia flinched, a hurt gleamed in her eyes.
"That’s why you got into an argument with Valentina and why you hate me so much." Natalia turned her head away, avoiding Maya’s gaze.
"Just help me escape and take me to see my mom, and then I will disappear. And Marcello and this Mafia Empire, which you want so much, will be yours. It’s a win-win situation for both of us."
Natalia shot a glare at Maya. "Nice try, cousin. Even though you don’t deserve to succeed the Don, and take over his mafia empire, or be Marcello’s wife, I’m not going to betray my uncle for you." She crushed Maya’s hopes with her rejection.
"I will be warming Marcello’s bed while you pretend to be his wife on paper, so get used to it, cousin." Natalia strides off.
Maya laughed, amused. "Girl, why are you so proud to be a mistress?" But Natalia was long gone and didn’t hear those hurtful words Maya was darting at her.
Now she has no choice but to divorce Dalton and marry that jerk if she wants to see her mother before she dies.
"Maya, I can explain," Marcello says, appearing with a guilty expression.
"It was just sex."
Maya rolled her eyes. "I don’t want to deal with you. I’m really tired, and I don’t care who you sleep with! You’re truly disgusting for sleeping with my half-sister, Valentina, and Natalia, my cousin, and yet you want to marry me?" She wrinkled her nose.
"Get out of my way, jerk!" She pushed him and walked away.
******
Maya barely got any sleep as she stayed up all night, distraught and torn between choosing her mother over her husband. She needs to make a decision immediately; time is running out.
Today was Zia Arianna’s day off, but she promised to spend the day with her teenage sons, so Maya had to go to the book café alone. After spending three hours there, she left to have a late lunch at the restaurant that Zia Arianna had taken her to.
She finished eating her lunch but wasn’t ready to go home, so she ordered a dessert to enjoy while she continued reading the book she had bought at the book café.
A while later, she got up to go to the washroom. Her bodyguard followed, but thankfully, she was not allowed to enter the bathroom stall with her.
Maya chose the first stall and walked in, only to experience the biggest shock of her life. There was a man she was very familiar with in the washroom with her.
"Hello, Maya. Long time no see," he said.
Maya’s lips parted as she was about to let out an ear-shattering scream, but a hand clamped over her mouth, suppressing her scream.
Maya’s eyes did the screaming as they widened while she stared at Aiden!
Aiden is here! In a restaurant washroom in Rome with her!
They began communicating silently through their gaze, and Maya came to an understanding, and Aiden gradually removed his hand from Maya’s lips.
Aiden closed the toilet lid and climbed atop it, squatting. He pulled his phone from his pocket and started typing furiously.
Maya went rigid and pale, staring at Aiden. He passed his phone to Maya, and she read what he had typed.
Please don’t scream, sister-in-law, or your bodyguard will discover me, and I might have to eliminate her and the other bodyguards who are undercover protecting you. By the way, did you know that the earring in your left ear is a tracker?
Maya touched her left ear to check but didn’t notice anything strange with the earring. Does that mean that every earring in the jewellery box was a tracker?
Maya realized they had to communicate through texting.
She texted: I won’t scream, but how on earth did you find me? How did you know I would enter the first bathroom stall?
She handed him the phone and he texted, giving it back to her
You are so predictable and practical, of course, you will enter the first stall you see. I had your aunt stalked by someone before I came to Rome, and then I took over the stalking. I’m very good at it; no one can detect me. I’m like a ghost. Stalking your aunt, Arianna, led me to you.
Maya smiled widely, but her smile faded as she texted: I’m sorry.
Her hands shook as she handed the phone back to Aiden. Aiden read the message, rolled his eyes, and then typed a response before passing the phone back to Maya.
If it’s about Vico, I knew a long time ago that you were his daughter, even before Dalton. I found out about it one and a half years ago. That knowledge didn’t make me like you less or Dalton love you less. You aren’t your father; you are Maya, the most amazing woman in the world.
A tear rolled down Maya’s face as she read those words. She typed a response and handed the phone back to Aiden: I thought you might want to kill me, and Dalton hates me. How is he doing?
Aiden typed and passed the phone to her.
He is a mess, miserable without you, crying himself to sleep like a baby. Please don’t tell him I told you this. You are his world, and I need to help get you back to him. We are all in Rome to bring you home, including the twins. Your bodyguard might get suspicious if I keep you here for too long. I will hide my own tracker on you to keep track of you. That red-haired cousin of yours said that Vico has been showing you the mafia trade, so you can lead us to one of the locations, so we can ambush and rescue you.
Maya wanted to cry as she read the part about Dalton, but she held back her tears. She typed up a detailed account of all of Vico’s mafia organizing activities and dealings, describing the locations as best as she could. She informed him that next Friday, Vico would be having a big meeting at one of the warehouses where they manufactured drugs. Vico is introducing a new drug to the market. Natalia, Marcello, and she would be present as well.
"Thanks," Aiden muttered. He pulled out a tracker designed to resemble strands of hair that matched Maya’s hair colour, nearly invisible to the eye. Maya turned her back to him, and Aiden clipped it into her scalp.
He then typed a message for her to read.
Alright, we will bring you home on that Friday. Take care of yourself. Do you have any messages for your hubby?
Maya smiled and typed one last message: Thanks so much, Aiden. I appreciate you so much for helping rescue me again for the second time. Words can’t express how grateful I am to you. I thought I would be trapped in this awful world forever. And to Dalton, I love you so much, and I promise I will be in your arms soon.
She handed the phone back to Aiden. He jumped off the toilet lid and flashed it.
Maya hugged him tightly, gave him one last glance, and rushed out of the bathroom.
