When Mr. Walker heard there were risks to the paternity test, he faltered. If this was really his child and something happened, he''d never forgive himself. Besides, Autumn wasn''t young anymore-an amniocentesis would be rough on her.

Autumn hesitated too. She couldn''t bear to lose the baby. Truth be told, she didn''t really want the test; she just wanted to roll the dice, hoping Mr. Walker would believe her.

The doctor nced between them, picking up on the tension. "Why don''t you both go home and think it over? If you''re set on the test, you can always wait until after the baby''s born. At your age, this isn''t easy. Moms-to-be go through a lot."

Thatst line cut straight to Mr. Walker''s soft spot.

He squeezed Autumn''s hand and said to the doctor, "Sorry to trouble you. We''re not doing the test. Autumn, let''s go home."

Autumn fixed her gaze on him. "Do you trust me now? If you still don''t, I''ll do it."

"I believe you," he said, his concern for her winning out in the end. "No more tests. We''re going home."

Without another word, Mr. Walker led Autumn out. She finally exhaled, the tension leaving her as soon as the car door shut behind her.

Back at home, Autumn stayed on her guard. She put on a show of heartbreak- lying in bed upstairs, refusing to eat or drink, not saying a word. She gave Mr. Walker the silent treatment and yed the victim so well, you''d forget she was the one at fault.

Mr. Walker brought the housekeeper back to look after her, ordering all sorts of nourishing soups and stews.

He knew deep down that from today onward, some things had to be let go. Seeing his wife so crushed, he chose to let them go.

At his age, having a child was a miracle. His wife was his, and the child— regardless of biology-was his too. Even in the worst case, it was conceived during their marriage. That made it his child, carrying his family name.

The housekeeper brought Autumn some soup, but she wouldn''t touch it. Mr. Walker listened at the door, but didn''t go in. When the housekeeper came out with the tray, he said, "Let her rest. Heat it up and bring it again when she wakes." "Yes, sir," the housekeeper replied.

After making sure everything was taken care of, Mr. Walker left the house.

Meanwhile, at The Grand za Hotel-

Devin had already been cornered by Mr. Walker''s men. No oneid a hand on him, but he wasn''t going anywhere.

Devin had slept with another man''s

wife, and now he was sweating

posted at the door. Both had guns at

their sides, making his skin crawl.  s

Broke and powerless, Devin had nothing left but fear. He sat there, hands awkwardly sped, not knowing where to look.

Then, voices from outside. "Mr. Walker, he''s inside."

Devin''s heart shot into his throat. Those footsteps sounded like the drumbeat of doom.

Mr. Walker entered, his stare sharp enough to cut steel, radiating a natural authority that came from a lifetime at the top.

Devin shrank back, unable to meet his gaze.fnbdbb Th? link to the orig?n of this information r?sts ?n Find_Novel(./fnbdbb

Mr. Walker gestured for his men to leave and shut the door behind them. Now it was just the two of them.

"Mr. Mr. Walker," Devin stammered, scrambling to his feet, every inch the nervousckey.

The sight made Mr. Walker frown. Was this sorry excuse really his rival?

He sat down, face unreadable. "You know why I''m here. Autumn told me everything."

Devin''s heart sank. He cursed Autumn in his mind-how could she spill everything?

"Mr. Walker, Mrs. Walker and I..."

Before he could finish, Mr. Walker cut him off. "You were ssmates. Lovers Autumn told me the whole story Julie is your daughter you left Autumn, lied to her that the child died, and let her mourn for years."  s

Every word hit home. Devin realized Autumn really had told it all.

"Mr. Walker, I—I lost my mind, but it was Mrs. Walker, she-" seduced me...

Before Devin could finish, Mr. Walker

mmed his hand on the table, voice cold and sharp. "I''m giving you onest chance is the child Autumn''s carrying yours or not? Be a man-don''t make things even uglier."  s
