CHAPTER 37: ULTIMATE VERSION OF THE BASIC DHARMA SPELLS
A few minutes earlier...
The collapse of the metal gates produced such a large noise, and those rotten creatures from within several hundred meters of the vicinity heard it, and they scrambled towards the source, the apartment building.
The swarm of people rushing created rumbling, thunderous noises. The ground below Brother Ding’s feet and the three unfortunate individuals shook like there were thousands of horses galloping nearby.
The people on the apartment building, especially on the fourth floor, had a better view of the situation outside, and one of them opened the window to yell at Brother Ding, who is still outside, gaping at the destroyed gate, which was destroyed by someone’s casual kick.
"Quickly lock the door! I can see hundreds of them!" His anxious shout awoke Brother Ding, the three unfortunate fellows, and the rest, who had yet to recover from the shock.
The survivors on the windows echoed the guy’s yell, and some even suggested locking Li Chunhua and the three out.
Without wasting another second, Brother Ding and his subordinate ushered inside the door, shut it, and started locking all the locks, bolts, chains, and wooden planks they could get their hands on.
"Miss, what are you still doing? They’re coming for us!" The three yelled at Li Chunhua, who is still trying to fix the gate.
They had already scurried inside and were knocking, kicking, and banging on the steel door.
"Brother Ding! Please open it! Brother Ding!" The three desperately called, but the man inside had already set his heart to stone to sacrifice them. "Damn, he locked us out again! This is a heartless guy! We saved him and fed him back then, and this is how he repays us."
One of the men kicked the door for the last time in frustration.
Brother Ding and his subordinates worked together to place the locks before climbing the stairs. Because they had done this job countless times, their efficiency was off the roof.
Li Chunhua let go of the metal gates since her attempt at fixing them was not working well. She raised her head at their words and rushed towards the steel door.
The three men saw her dash through the steel two-meter double door with astonishing speed. Brother Ding had locked it, and there’s no way, even with her super strength, that she is able to tear it down. This steel door is much tougher than the gate.
But she had no signs of stopping. If she maintains this speed, she will bump and get seriously injured.
"No, Miss, stop. It’s lock." Unfortunately, she seems not to mind their reminders. They quickly moved out of her way before closing their eyes with their hands. With all their strength sapped, they wouldn’t be able to save her.
Bam-
The sound made the three men’s hearts leap to their throats. They opened a tiny gap between their fingers, and what they saw was not the girl getting injured but the entrance being opened.
Brother Ding and his subordinates were beyond shocked when they saw the door locks turned into a pile of broken metal on the floor.
"Are you kidding me?" Brother Ding stuttered in disbelief.
"What are you dazing for?" Li Chunhua asked while she stuck her head out to the three who were ogling at the widely opened steel door.
"This..." One of them gulped and stammered.
Li Chunhua glanced back at the ruined metal gates, and when she saw the swarm of monsters already on the threshold, she quickly pulled them in before raising her head. She immediately saw two men looking at her with an expression that was hard to describe.
The moment Brother Ding’s eyes clashed with Li Chunhua’s, he trembled wildly and headed towards the second floor’s door.
But once he reached it, he was terrified to find out that it was locked. "Sh*t," he cursed under his breath, turned the knob, and inserted the keys, but the door wouldn’t budge.
The people seem to block the door with heavy furniture.
He was being abandoned as well. Now, it was his turn to feel awful. His curses full of complaints rang out from the second floor, and the people inside rushed towards the upper floors while blocking every door leading to the stairs with a furniture barricade.
Unfortunately, the human bulldozer, Li Chunhua, was within the area, and their attempts were futile. The doors were no different than the fragile papers under her hands.
Brother Ding only felt a wind blew past his shoulders before the wooden door on his hands was wrecked into splinters. The furniture and heavy appliances were hurled across the narrow pathway, smashing the cemented walls in a loud series of thuds.
Li Chunhua didn’t stop there and ran towards the upper floors, smashing consecutive doors into smithereens.
"Phew, we finally finished it. This is going to hold them off. What the heck is that? Ah!"
Bam-
"I’m exhausted, but let’s drag some more. Why is the furniture is flying! Ahh!"
Bam-
"I believe this is enough. Eh, why did the wind become fierce? Argh my nose!"
Bam-
She only stopped when there was nothing more to smash, and by then she had already arrived on the empty rooftop.
Not long after, people popped on the broken doorway with their broken noses, bleeding and wounded faces, broken hands, and some were even limping. Each of them had an expression as if wanting to eat her alive, but none dared to file a complaint due to her freakish strength.
A single punch from her, and they’re probably going to be sent to the afterlife.
Among the people who came up were Brother Ding and those three people. They instantly scurried towards the edges and looked down at the crowd of monsters below. Some of these monsters had already entered the building, and many more were rushing at the entrance, competing their way inside.
"We’re going to die."
The rooftop was instantly filled with despair and hopelessness. People began to express negativity and vented it upon the three men who brought the freak, Li Chunhua, to the apartment building. If these three didn’t bring the freak, the gate would still be intact, as would the steel door. Now, nothing could hold those monsters at bay.
"Be quiet. I’ll think of a way."
The people became silent as they recalled her strength, and this rekindled their hopes.
Maybe she could really save them?
Which is the most appropriate spell to use?
Her mind spun with calculations.
Unfortunately, the time to think was very short because a monster, followed by another one, had already popped from the entrance, which made the people scream in fear.
All the fixated their gazes on Li Chunhua.
The sense qi in her dantian vibrated in a surging sea, and she guided it out of her hands, which were forming hand seals.
What is she doing?
The people and the three were raising their eyebrows at her eight grader syndrome.
"Basic Fire Dharma Spell: Fire Spears come forth and strike my enemies to ashes."
Her shout was so heroic and loud that the lips and eyes of people watching her were twitching.
Some even cried.
ಠ益ಠ
What the fuck is she doing? Making those monsters laugh to death?
They initially had hope due to the strength she displayed, but when they heard her childish yell, they cried.
Oh no, they’re doomed.
Li Chunhua muttered the spell again four times while flapping her arms and making hand seals, but nothing came out of her hand.
They heard her mumble, "Why is it not working?"
How is it going to work?
Just because you called for a fire spear, it doesn’t mean one would emerge.
You must be sick in your head.
Suddenly, one of the people shouted. "Look up."
Bloody heck!
Everyone followed the man’s words, and they saw five meteors coming towards them. One of the meteors deviated from the path and went somewhere else.
"It’s coming this way." Everyone dove to the floor while covering their ears and eyes.
Li Chunhua was immersed in the failure of her spells, and it was too late for her to notice the meteor. It was only until one of the three men tugged on her shirt that she raised her head, but the meteor was already a few meters from the rooftop.
Ah, why is there a meteor here?
Bang-
There were four loud consecutive explosions, and the debris and wreckage flew and shot everywhere.
The dust was everywhere, making it hard to see the situation. The people spent a minute coughing out dust and rubbing their eyes until the smoke dispersed.
Li Chunhua was nearest to the crash site. Once she opened her eyes, she saw the entrance was gone, half of the building was destroyed, and the place was filled with high temperature. Just a second later, a large fire erupted, engulfing the destroyed part, and it was spreading in their direction due to the wind fanning it.
This is bad.
Li Chunhua made a hand seal, but not before vehemently praying to the heavens to let her spell work.
"Basic water dharma spells come forth, cleans the earth, and purify the lands: Water Curtain."
The sky above her head turned dark, and one could hear the loud thunder and lightning rumbling like a calamity would befall the earth.
The sky split and the heavens cried.
Splash-
A large amount of water descended on the whole area, soaking all the people on the rooftop in an instant.
The ferocious fire died at once, and when not a spark of it was left, the rain stopped.
The neighborhood around the apartment complex was flooded with water rushing to the height of the first floor.
Li Chunhua spat the water out of her mouth before looking at her hands in utter bewilderment. "There is something with my dharma spells." As she said these words, she turned around and was shocked to see people kneeling in front of her, kowtowing and addressing her as "Deity."
"Someone finally came to save us."
Ah, she was only going to ask where she could get a good meal.
Li Chunhua scratched her wet hair.
--
A few minutes later, on the rooftop, under numerous pairs of worshipping eyes, she asked. "Do you know a good restaurant?"
In an instant, countless hands rose, and people started bragging about a diner they knew in absolute enthusiasm.
"Mr. Fang owns a noodle restaurant, and every day there would be numerous people lining up to get a bowl from him."
"I know a great hotpot restaurant that sells cheap kobe beef, gives discounts and lot of free side dishes."
"An auntie from my hometown cooked the most delicious blood curdling duck soup with vermicelli."
"In my university..."
Li Chunhua was filled with hope that she could finish the task and asked these people to tell her the locations, but...
"Unfortunately Mr. Fang died from being bitten by a monster on the first day."
"The hotpot restaurant had been destroyed."
"My hometown is filled with monsters. I’m afraid the villagers are all gone."
"My Uni has turn into a ghost town."
Ahhh...
"One more question, do any of you knows how to cook?"
All of the drenched people looked each other before shaking their heads.
Li Chunhua: (; ̄ д ̄) System, can I change the mission?
Somehow she felt killing a thousand monsters would be easier.
