The Cannon Fodder in the Global Apocalypse Game lives a leisurely life
Chapter 38: The First Global Chat War
CHAPTER 38: THE FIRST GLOBAL CHAT WAR
While more than half an hour had passed in the secret realm, only less than five minutes went by in the main game world, and some of the players, with the help of their summoned natives, were able to level up easily.
Those who didn’t have or had natives who had lower stats than them had to resort to ingenious ideas to deal with the savage feline mobs, like kiting from the fences, digging out trenches, and laying man-made traps. Although the speed of leveling cannot be compared to the others, there is still progress.
Currently, the highest level by now should have been Xun Mingsheng, but due to his injuries, several team leaders from various groups caught up and were maintaining a steady pace.
Dumpling Duke seems to have an elusive temperament like Big Brother Anonymous and wants to be low-key. Players that are hot on his tails and teams that wanted to recruit him set their interests aside first because someone brought up the topic about the class change.
While no one was still able to reach the required level for the class change, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of players for discussing it.
[I eat clues for breakfast]: I’ve always dreamed of being a martial artist like those in Jianghu movies, executing powerful attacks with their fists and kicks, and I can’t believe it’s actually going to come true in an apocalypse game. Now my crazy bat sh*t resentment for it has been halved. I just hoped the initial skills would be kicka** and not merely for looking cool. Otherwise, this game will be a major flop.
[Spreading IQ on the world]: My childhood dream is also to be a wandering warrior, roaming the perilous world with my blade as a companion, restoring order, and punishing injustice. It would really be awesome if the warrior class had flying skills like those cultivators in the Xianxia novel.
[I’m soft and delicate]: Warriors and martial artists are outdated. The mage class is the new trend. You can just unleash skills and kite monsters from a safe distance behind your army, and the damage output is explosive.
[Lilac in the meadow]: Archer class is decent too...
The Global Chat is filled with excited people expressing their dreams and class preference. It was very peaceful until one player posted this question.
[Just a complete passerby]: Ah, I’m not knowledgeable about these classes, so anyone can help me find out which class is the best?
The best class?
Yup, this was the question that triggered the First War in the game world.
[I eat clues for breakfast]: You don’t need to think about it. Martial artists are the bomb. We don’t need the external help of weapons, unlike others who rely on them and get useless once their weapons are scrapped.
[Spreading IQ on the world]: What kind of nonsense are you spouting? Even without weapons, I can take you out within seconds, and so as the other paper classes.
[I’m soft and delicate]: Both of your classes sucks. A mage can kill you without letting you get near her. Your chunks of principles and armor can’t last a second under our bombardment, especially in the later part of the game where we learn higher-level spells.
[Lilac in the meadow]: Sister, that’s not right. According to our games in the previous world, your skills, whether AOE or PVP, will consume a lot of mana, and most of the skills you possess don’t have target lock functions. And what if you encounter monsters that have nullification magic? You’ll be useless, too. And most importantly, in a team fight, mages and healers get taken out first, so better be careful of your necks. An archer class is pretty much better. We have agility as a means to escape and can dish good damage, both physical and magic.
This doesn’t end here. Compatriots from other classes also sign up for the war like hungry wolves, with their mouths as their ammunition in defending and boosting their class.
The fight escalated, and it was getting personal to the point where players started targeting the other players’ eighteen generations of ancestors. Even the pets were not left out.
The insults were so colorful and irksome that they could make those deceased ancestors of theirs come back alive from the ashes to join the verbal war.
The player ’Just a complete passerby’ saw that the situation was getting out of hand and silently closed the tab, but before he could successfully escape, someone mentioned him in the Global Chat.
[I love gossip]: Since all of you are hell-bently opinionated with your dream classes as the best class, how about giving ’Just a complete passerby’ the decision to pick which class is the best?
Σ(ಠ_ಠ) Oh...Oh... Someone threw the gunpowder on him.
The players temporarily ceased fire with the upstairs suggestion, and now the majority of the players keep pinging, ’Just a complete passerby’, eagerly waiting for his answer.
But ’just a complete passerby’ became a true passerby and logged off. He sat in his rickety bed, contemplating his earlier decisions. If he knew this would happen, he would not have turned to the global chat for help.
Thus, the war that temporarily stopped once again sparked, with his silence, and it continued until morning with the nocturnal players gaining dark circles under their eyes and having sore throats from croaking all night.
The day players was quite curious about what happened and asked one of these nocturnal players who was still able to persist until morning.
And the results were not surprising, the global chat war resumed again and became even more intense than last night.
Even Brother Niu and Beef Noodles were amongst these players.
Meanwhile, on Li Chunhua’s side, after realizing her mission may be as difficult as ascending, she spent the remainder of her time until the flood retreats in gathering information about this world.
She doesn’t know why the secret realm is only called Hallow City, but the planet she was on was called Tendra.
About seven months ago, on an ordinary weekday, some people fell sick, fell into a coma, and were admitted to the hospital.
A week later, amongst these patients, some had awoken as monsters, while others were ability users, and the rest of these patients didn’t manage to wake up.
The monsters started biting people, drinking their blood, and spreading the infections through bites. The city turned into a complete horror movie, with scenes of carnage everywhere.
The government responded to the crisis by dispatching military personnel to aid those survivors in escaping. They tried to eliminate the monsters, but the sheer number of them was too great. Therefore, the government turned the military region into a base.
This military region is located near the western borders of the city, which are 2 miles away from where they are. Because they were not within the routes those rescue teams took, they were trapped here ever since and had been living by looting those shops nearby.
But these were not a permanent solution because the food and water within those shops were not inexhaustible. There were no rivers or streams nearby, and even if they did, they might be contaminated.
They tried to be self-sustainable by growing their own food, but the water for their daily consumption was already a problem, so they couldn’t take care of plants.
That’s how she met those three men. Because the food and bottled water within the range of several streets had been wiped clean, they had to increase their range and ultimately met with a monster.
People called it the Undead.
The undead have their own grades too. The higher their IQ, the greater the threat.
The one that she had slapped before was a level 2 with the sentience of a toddler.
When she asked them if there was any cure, they shook their heads. The government only found out something that these monsters were afraid of, but that’s it. There is no mention of the cure. It was quite frustrating.
They heard this piece of news on the radio a month ago. That’s the last piece of news they were to receive because there were no more batteries.
While she was gathering information, people kept asking her why she didn’t have any knowledge of these things, to which she vaguely answered that she had occasional amnesia.
Cough. When it comes to lying, her skill is chicken rib.
Thankfully, the people didn’t pry into the matter but still gave her odd looks, which she ignored given that the time was tight.
Since she only had less than three days, she couldn’t afford to be a salted fish, not even for a single minute. (╥﹏╥)
She immediately decided to set off towards the base they were talking about.
The people, upon hearing her choice, tried to persuade her to stay. After all, with her around, their safety was guaranteed.
Li Chunhua declined but still asked if someone was willing to help her.
Surprisingly, the three men actually volunteered because they couldn’t stay with these people anymore after all that had happened.
Li Chunhua was grateful and assured them that she would guard them with her life.
Twenty minutes later, after helping those people find a new stronghold, Li Chunhua’s entourage began their journey.
Less than halfway, Li Chunhua noticed something odd with her status screen.
(๑•﹏•)?
What’s going on?
