The Cannon-Fodder Villainess Faked Her Death, Her Five Beast Mates Go Wild
Chapter 35: The Eccentric Mious
CHAPTER 35: CHAPTER 35: THE ECCENTRIC MIOUS
Due to the Beastmen’s unhealed injuries, the return journey was slowed down by twice the usual time, and by the time they reached the tribe, it was already pitch dark.
The exhausted Beastmen bid a hasty farewell and returned to their respective caves to rest, while Belinda took Bai Qiao and his group to find the High Priest, who was acting as the leader.
Having treated the injuries of seven Beastmen in just one day, and having spent half the day on the bumpy journey, Wen Shu was so tired that her eyelids were fighting each other as she returned to her cave. She ordered Nan and Wu Xuan back to the auxiliary cave to rest and fell onto the bed hoping for a long sleep.
But she was still concerned about Mious’s injury, so she could only muster up her spirits, placing the small black snake, which had fallen into a coma, onto the blanket.
Even though its form had shrunk to only half an arm’s length, the scars on the small black snake’s body were still clear.
The scales on its belly were mostly corroded, with dark yellow pus seeping from the edges, and large charred areas deeply sunken into the flesh in the middle.
Wen Shu frowned, initially thinking it was just ordinary corrosive liquid, but didn’t expect the toxin to be so strong. If delayed any longer, with her current abilities, she might not be able to heal it.
But she had indeed consumed too much today, her spiritual power severely limited, making it almost impossible to activate her superpowers...
She took a deep look at the small black snake, gritted her teeth hard, and still decided to forcefully activate her powers. Mious was dragged into this by her, she couldn’t just watch him die.
The moment the thin white light enveloped the small black snake, the familiar pain surged into her brain. Soon after, she felt dizzy and didn’t know when she fell into a coma, only remembering the sound of painful gasping by her ears and the dense, bone-chilling pain in her head.
When she groggily awoke from hunger, the light outside the cave was already bright.
Waking up hungry for the second time, Wen Shu pursed her lips helplessly, got out of bed, only to find her steps surprisingly light, and the birdsong in the distance clearer than ever!
She delightedly activated her superpowers, and sure enough, the light in her palm was much brighter than yesterday, with faint signs of a breakthrough in her spiritual power.
Sweeping away her inner gloom, she happily thought of going to the kitchen to find some food. As soon as she turned around, she met the gaze of Mious, who had changed into a black robe.
His figure holding the stone bowl paused upon meeting her smiling eyes.
A trace of unnaturalness flashed across his handsome, indifferent face, his long lashes slightly drooped to avoid her gaze. He took a couple of steps and sat down by the stone table, speaking in a cold tone, "Come over here to eat, I have something to say to you."
Not knowing what he wanted to say, Wen Shu immediately noticed the food in his hand and sat down on the other side of the stone table without much thought, staring straight at the fresh roasted meat in the bowl.
Seeing her like this, Mious remained indifferent, expressionlessly pushing the stone bowl towards her and softly urging, "Eat."
Hearing him say this, Wen Shu rudely pulled the bowl in front of her, gobbling down the skewers of meat ravenously.
Mious slightly frowned, lifting his eyelids to look at her. For once, he didn’t feel disgust; instead, he felt somehow complicated.
Although she ate quickly, it was cleanly done. Her lips, stained with grease, were full and neat. Her pale, skinny cheeks puffed out as she chewed, her eyes almost gleaming green with hunger.
Last night when he woke up, he saw this face, eyes tightly shut, lips deathly pale, collapsing weakly beside his face. If it weren’t for the slight tremor of the eyelashes brushing her cheeks, he would have almost thought she was dead.
How much did she love him, to torture herself like this to save him...
An odd swelling sensation rose in Mious’s heart, this feeling had never faded since last night, especially now that she had woken up.
He had an inexplicable urge to hide, yet couldn’t control the worry, largely due to overwhelming guilt.
As the female nearly finished eating and began to slowly chew, Mious’s thin lips moved, "You don’t have to go this far for me, I won’t accept you."
He suddenly blurted this out, making Wen Shu’s eyebrow jump, almost biting her own tongue.
Huh? Why say this suddenly?
Seeing her guilty reaction, Mious thought he had struck her heart, causing a strange numbness to rise from the tip of his heart. He pursed his lips before speaking again, "I see you get along well with those two males, don’t ignore the present over me, and don’t mistakenly hurt anyone’s feelings, to avoid future regret."
His voice was cold and deep, and it was rare for him to say so much in one go.
Wen Shu’s brain froze upon hearing, taking a moment to understand. Was he afraid she still liked him and wouldn’t break the contract?
Her mouth was still full of meat as she anxiously chewed and swallowed, grasping the male’s well-defined big hand on the table.
As warmth suddenly covered the back of his hand, Mious’s heart skipped a beat, staring dumbfounded at the serious-looking female, his entire attention fixated on the slippery touch, only feeling a numbness creeping from his hand up his arm, swiftly spreading across his back.
Not waiting for Wen Shu to finish inspecting the injury, he abruptly withdrew his hand, an inexplicable panic in his heart, but his face growing colder as he sternly questioned, "What are you doing!"
Seeing his large reaction, Wen Shu was startled too, standing up in trepidation, afraid he would suddenly become angry and start shouting and fighting again.
"Don’t overthink, I’m just checking your injury. I promise you’ll be healed within half a month, then I’ll definitely abide by the agreement, let you go without bothering you!"
Wen Shu raised three fingers, but remembering Beastmen didn’t understand this, she smiled and retracted them, "Besides, I still have the Beast God Contract, don’t I?"
Seeing her earnest expression, Mious finally remembered the Beast God Contract.
Oddly enough, though he should feel relieved to soon be free from the female, an inexplicable irritability filled his chest.
He didn’t think much about it, attributing the annoyance to the female’s offense.
After glancing coldly at Wen Shu’s face, he grabbed the remaining skewers of roasted meat and left with a grim look, "I haven’t eaten either."
Wen Shu found his childish behavior baffling, sitting back on the stone stool, pondering about making something later herself. But Mious returned, slowly walking up to Wen Shu.
He looked down at her, placing the skewers back in the bowl. His deep eyes filled with seriousness, he warned, "If you wish to live peacefully, don’t expose your ability to purify toxins."
Unless she foolishly adored vanity, ambitiously seeking power... if so, he wouldn’t bother with her, letting her fend for herself.
Leaving that cold remark, Mious turned and left.
Watching him leave, Wen Shu was stunned for a long time. What was he worrying about?
She had this question even when he warned her yesterday.
If her ability were just special, he shouldn’t react like this, does it mean something else...
Unfortunately, the plot didn’t mention anything about this.
However, since Mious was tied to her life, he shouldn’t harm her; his advice could be taken.
Unable to figure it out, Wen Shu stopped thinking about it, picked up the meat skewers and savored them slowly. Just as she finished a skewer, footsteps sounded from the cave entrance.
Thinking it was Mious returning, Wen Shu realized the numbers were off, the chaotic footsteps were densely packed, at least seven or eight Beastmen.
Who would come looking for her at this time?
She tensed her spine warily, staring directly at the cave entrance.
Two familiar Beastmen walked in first, the elderly High Priest in a black robe looked peculiar, followed by a worried Ku Jia and his five subordinates.
Upon seeing Wen Shu, the males behind Ku Jia successively placed five bundles on the ground.
Ku Jia hurriedly stepped forward, bowing deeply to Wen Shu, "Wen Shu, the female, the commander vomited blood last night, now his breath is weak and he’s about to fail, please save him! As long as the commander wakes up, these are all yours!"
