CHAPTER 38: CHAPTER 38: BIRTH PARENTS

At the corner at the foot of the mountain, four figures were slowly walking along the mountain path paved with smooth stones.

Wearing a white long dress, the charming female leading the way in front had a gloomy expression, stomping her feet in frustration, "Business, business... It’s always business. If this is how it is, I’d rather find an ordinary male without power or influence; at least he could accompany me all the time!"

Beside the female was a middle-aged female dressed in a dark red robe, mature and full of feminine allure.

If she guessed correctly, this middle-aged couple was the original protagonist’s biological parents.

The original protagonist’s father, Yun Suo, was a Seventh Rank Eagle Beast with extremely fast flight, so Wen Shu was not surprised they came so quickly.

But she never thought nor desired to meet them.

However, Beastmen are quite sensitive to the scent of their offspring; even if she ran into them, she feared she’d be recognized!

Seeing them getting closer, Wen Shu turned her head to try to hide, but all she saw was a bare high mountain, and only Lucius’s cave offered a hiding place.

Without considering anything else, Wen Shu clutched her stomach and ran back to the cave where Lucius and the others were about to gather for a conversation. Seeing her return, they paused.

Lucius raised an eyebrow slightly, with a questioning smile in his eyes, "Wen Shu, did you forget something?"

Hearing him use her name, Wen Shu was a bit surprised at how quickly information was exchanged; he already knew her name.

But she didn’t show it on her face, instead she bent over, furrowed her brows, and urgently asked, "I suddenly have a stomach upset; may I borrow your toilet?"

As soon as she spoke, seemingly unable to wait, she squeezed past the group without waiting for Lucius’s approval and rushed into the cave.

Behind her, Bai Qiao’s family had just arrived.

As Wen Shu hurriedly turned into the toilet, she overheard Bai Qiao introducing Lucius’s group to her mother, Bai Rong, "Mother, this is Shu, who saved my brother and me from the mutant beast."

Her introduction was enthusiastic, yet Bai Rong didn’t immediately reply. When her voice finally sounded, there was a familiar tone in it, "Shu? Isn’t that the leader’s alias?"

She went to the main city annually for official reports and instantly recognized Lucius.

"So it’s City Lord Bai Rong."

Lucius also recognized her, and he calmly explained a few things before acting surprised at Bai Qiao’s identity, skillfully exchanging pleasantries with Bai Rong.

Wen Shu listened for a while, realizing their conversation was quite superficial, filled with mutual compliments, but even doing just that might take a long time. Did she intend to remain in the toilet for half a day?

Wasn’t it obvious that she was telling Lucius she was hiding from someone?

She glanced around, noting the facilities were backwards, yet the Beast World’s toilets were quite clean. Beside the two stall holes were two buckets: one of water, and the other of soil used to mask odor.

Wen Shu peeked in, finding the soil resembled carbon and exuded a refreshingly fragrant scent...

She came up with a rotten idea.

In the cave’s outer hall, Lucius and Bai Rong were still exchanging pleasantries, talking about Lucius’s sudden mid-journey fainting incident.

Bai Rong assumed it was part of rescuing Bai Qiao, a calculating look in her eyes as she inquired with concern, "Qiaoqiao has Sixth Rank Healing Ability; if you’re uncomfortable, you can ask her for help."

Lucius shook his head, laughed softly, "No need for fuss, I’ve recovered..."

Bai Qiao understood the severity of his injuries, drawn closer in surprise, noting his indeed rosier cheeks, she exclaimed in disbelief, "Is it self-healing? Shu, your rank must be high!"

Knowing she misunderstood, Lucius didn’t clarify.

The rare ability of the female astonished him; if she could indeed heal internal injuries, she’d possess a broad future anywhere.

But he had another arrangement for her...

He silently chuckled, about to respond when a tall black silhouette suddenly dashed out from within the cave.

Bai Qiao was seated outside, startled by the black figure flashing past and clutching Bai Rong’s arm, "What is it?"

With the scream, the males responded swiftly, revealing beast claws as they encircled the stone table, guarding the females and Lucius in the center, eyes attentively watching the shadow.

Yun Suo stood at the forefront, eagle claws at his chest sharp as blades, cautiously observing the shadow, recognizing it as a female by her figure.

"Hold your fire, it’s only a female." His eyes reflected confusion, nostrils twitching as he detected a pungent clean sand scent.

Hearing his words, Ku Jia and others recalled Wen Shu using the toilet, looking at her in confusion before noticing the female’s clean skin, wrapped entirely in clean sand, even her hair wasn’t spared.

Seeing their wary expressions, Wen Shu awkwardly explained, "It’s me, it’s me, calm down. While rushing into the toilet, I didn’t stand firm and accidentally spilled it over myself..."

As soon as she spoke, Bai Qiao immediately recognized her.

She stared in shock at Wen Shu, seeing her skin soaked and smeared in black sand, unable to restrain a frown; that was clean sand for the toilet, didn’t she mind the dirt?

The female Tina called her sloppy and untidy, and it turned out true...

Regarding the female’s unexpected actions, Lucius also sat on the stone bench, thoughtfully observing her.

All eyes fell on Wen Shu, she uneasily smiled, causing the clean sand on her face to fall off swiftly.

Feeling a cool patch at her cheek, she lowered her gaze to find the clean sand covering her skin had dropped onto the ground.

This dried way too quickly!

She casually lifted her hair, trying to shield the side of her face and neck.

Identifying offspring isn’t just about scent, the original protagonist had a birthmark near her collarbone close to her shoulder!

Feigning calm, she waved a hand and lightly chuckled, "Sticky and uncomfortable, you guys carry on, I’ll be heading back."

Finished speaking, she hurriedly left without looking at their reactions, making her way to the cave entrance.

Lucius noticed her panic, a curious look crossing his eyes.

Watching her quickening pace, he raised an eyebrow, laughing lightly, "Bai Qiao, didn’t you ask how I recovered?"

He stood and quickly followed Wen Shu, halting her departing figure, "It was Wen Shu who saved me."
