CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 62: BELINDA IS CAPTURED

A weak and trembling female voice echoed in the empty corridor.

The young male felt his ears go soft. Looking at the fragile back of the female, the more he looked, the more familiar she seemed.

Recalling the gentle and beautiful female from last night, how she appeared while healing him, he felt as if bewitched and slowly lowered his sharp claw blade. "Female, turn around."

Wen Shu detected a hint of strangeness, turned around, and met the male’s eyes, becoming completely stunned.

The male in front of her was wearing dark animal skins, with skin of a healthy wheatish tone.

He was tall and handsome, with well-defined features that had an exotic depth. Those golden eyes sparkled with a fervent and bewildering light, so familiar that it was hard to look away.

Gazing into his eyes, she blinked. Her eyes unknowingly misted with warmth, and she opened her mouth, wanting to shout his name but was alert enough to restrain herself.

In the darkness, the male’s curly red hair looked like burning dark fire, with no scar at the end of his brow.

He wasn’t Wu Xuan, just looked a bit like him...

As Wen Shu turned around, Chi Yuan also held his breath; it really was her!

His pupils dilated with excitement, but seeing her red-rimmed eyes, he thought he had frightened the female. He withdrew his wolf claws in a fluster, stammering, "Female, don’t be afraid, I won’t harm you. Recently there have been many unfamiliar scents near the dense forest, I thought enemies had infiltrated..."

Upon saying this, the male closed his mouth nervously and explained in a hushed voice, "Don’t tell anyone, Lord E Jia forbids it."

Scratching his head sheepishly, he grinned, showing eight white teeth, his gaze pure and innocent.

Clearly protected well by family, his character seemed completely different from Wu Xuan’s...

Wen Shu stared unblinkingly at him, realizing she didn’t know much about Wu Xuan’s past; Wu Xuan was a Black Panther but grew up in the Snow Leopard Tribe.

He and Wu Ya were siblings but looked nothing alike.

Where did the scar at the end of his brow come from, and his strength far surpassed that of Beastmen of the same rank...

Wen Shu felt a sourness in her nose, her chest tight to the point where she couldn’t breathe, but now was not the time to be sad. Luo Fei didn’t seem like he would help her; leaving as soon as she could was her only chance to find Wu Xuan again.

She took a deep breath, wiping the moisture from the corner of her eyes, and with some anxiety asked, "Is Lord E Jia very terrifying? I was just captured, you... you’re not like the southern raiders, are you?"

Saying this, she widened her eyes as if recalling something dreadful, backing up a few steps in panic.

Being an outlaw himself, Chi Yuan understood what the female was referring to.

Seeing the female’s face turn white, almost retreating into a corner, his eyes flickered, stepping forward but not daring to come too close, and explained seriously, "No, we are different. The leader has set rules, no male is allowed to humiliate a female, or they will be exiled to the dense forest..."

Is that so?

Wen Shu scrutinized his eyes, which seemed sincere indeed. She temporarily believed him, and her gaze shifted towards the corner near the crevice.

A bit strange...

She was clearly discovered, yet apart from the male in front of her, no other guards appeared.

While she was filled with doubt, Chi Yuan was worried others might find the female, fearing the leader might have a conflict with her, so he cautiously leaned in, "Female, where do you live, shall I escort you back?"

The male was overly considerate, but Wen Shu had no intention of returning. She had been in the latrine long enough to get noticed.

Since that’s the case, she might as well look around and memorize the Blood Alliance’s internal structure, which would help in rescuing the females later on.

She furrowed her brows in difficulty, looking up at the male, pitifully asking: "I’m afraid to go back... Luo Fei must think I’m trying to escape. Could you walk with me a little longer?"

Chi Yuan’s heart ached seeing her look at him like this, and with so many brothers at the entrance, he agreed readily.

The male was a great guide and naïve, easy to deceive.

Within mere minutes, Wen Shu had already coaxed all the information out of him, even learning there was an escape tunnel!

"Whoever came up with this idea is truly smart..." Wen Shu praised a bit, without stopping her explorative strides.

But Chi Yuan glanced ahead, raising a hand to stop her, his clear voice slightly solemn, "Let’s go explore the other side."

Wen Shu looked ahead in confusion, realizing they were approaching a dead end.

There were no exits ahead, not even lamps; the meager firelight flickered in the darkness, faintly illuminating moss-covered stone walls.

As they stood still, a damp and chilly breath rushed over, making them feel uncomfortable all over.

Wen Shu furrowed her brows, feeling it wasn’t a good place, prepared to leave with Chi Yuan.

But just at that moment, a towering figure nearly two meters high walked out from the wall.

The light was too dim, the male’s entire face hidden in darkness; Wen Shu could only make out a silhouette.

His pitch-black profile stood against the wall, his broad palm brushing against his forehead, smoothing his somewhat unruly long hair, revealing sharp, prominent brow bones, and a pair of eyes glinting with dim light concealed in shadow.

Viewed from afar, his aura was sinister and dangerous, as if he was naturally one with the darkness.

Wen Shu inexplicably felt a tension, immediately wanting to turn away, but the other party keenly noticed them.

He lifted his eyelids, looking over indifferently, his deep blue eyes seemed to fixate on a dead object, his pupils like a deep, still pond, devoid of any ripple.

Suddenly locking eyes with him set alarm bells ringing in her head, Wen Shu’s heart pounded, every cell in her body screamed to leave now!

But her body felt frozen in place, unable to move momentarily. It had been a long time since she felt fear like this...

"Female? Female?"

In her daze, Chi Yuan’s calling voice sounded in her ears.

Wen Shu snapped back to reality, realizing the dangerous male had already retracted his gaze, returning to the cave.

She exhaled sharply, feeling a bit weak, taking a couple of urgent breaths, turning around with unsteady steps, "Let’s go, let’s leave..."

The breeze blew, making her shiver with cold, realizing her back was soaked with cold sweat. Recalling that male, her heart pounded faster in lingering fear.

But before she could walk far, a shrill cry pierced the air.

"Get away—"

The voice was tinged with a sob, wrenching and chilling, but Wen Shu still recognized it. It was Belinda! She was captured too!

"What’s that noise?"

She looked up at Chi Yuan, discovering shock in his eyes too, but that shock didn’t seem to signify complete ignorance of what was happening.

Wen Shu’s face turned cold, "Didn’t you say the Blood Alliance is different from the southern raiders?"

Belinda had helped her; she couldn’t just stand by.

Without waiting for Chi Yuan to respond, Wen Shu followed the direction of the voice, quickly striding into the darkness, to find that at the end of the corridor was just a single cave...
